The sparkling passion fruit and lighter wines had great aroma and freshness; the reds and blends were rich without being heavy. We left with some bottles. Do the vineyard tour to the top of the mountain if it's available. You get a ride from the lower vineyard through the forest and past the ponds up to the upper vineyard at about 2,400 feet. The views at the top are worth the time. Tasting fee is reasonable and waived with a bottle or better yet, become a member and get access to the special events and the vineyard tour. We've had several amazing tasting experiences in wine country where the sommelier tells you many more details about the wines including where on the property the grapes are grown, how it is made, and what different notes we will taste in each wine. We ordered two tastings but all the wines were brought out in small carafes, we couldn't tell if each one held enough wine for one of us or both of our tastings combined. This wasn't ever explained either, so we assumed it was for both of us to share. While we awaited the arrival of our friends, my wife and I found a picnic table in the shade. Once our friends arrived they ordered a wine tasting flight to share. As we put the finishing touches on our tempranillo, an employee came by to see if we were ready for another round. Since it was a 100 degree day, we figured that it would be wise to order something cold and refreshing. Although we have never been fans of rosé, it just felt like the appropriate thing to order. We enjoyed our time at Smokey Ridge Ranch, next time we will bring a charcuterie board to enjoy with their large pours of wine!
