My kids and I went to TooJay's last night for dinner, arriving just before 7pm. They had ONE server working, but when we arrived, we were one of four table seated. We decided to keep it easy, each of us ordering a bowl of Matzo Ball Soup and Sesame Bagels w Cream Cheese. Additional patrons were seated, and other than beverages served, our server was running back and forth trying to accommodate the additional table (totaling nine). At 7:30-ish, she came back to the table to tell us that they were out of Sesame bagels after we waited 1/2 hour for our meals. We told her just to bring the soups... forget the bagels. Another 5 - 10 minutes passed, and our soups were served. My daughter asked for some crackers to go with the soup. She left the table, and went over to another one. We assumed she would then go get the requested crackers. Poor assumption. She never came back to the table until we were done with the soups. Sidebar note: The soups were obviously microwaved. One matzo ball were hot in the center... the second one cold... and they both were (as best as I can describe it) dried out. She came back over only to bring the check. She had apologized for the bagels, saying they had a lot of "big parties" earlier in the day. I paid, leaving a 15% tip, which I considered generous all things considered, and we left. We ended up getting additional food elsewhere. It's interesting to note that the guy behind the deli counter didn't come over to help. I want to share what was a thoroughly disappointing experience. I live in a part of Florida that does not have a NY deli-style restaurant and have eaten at TooJay's locations many times over the years. I stopped in for some corned beef and rye bread from the counter to go for a group of us to make sandwiches for dinner. All I can say is we were 100% disappointed when I got back to our lodging and we opened it up to discover it was nothing more than what we can buy at the Publix deli counter back home. This was not fresh made corned beef, it was no better than Boar's Head and flavorless. We paid a premium price for an inferior product I can get at the grocery deli. This was not even close to NY deli style corned beef and not at all anything like what I have been served while dining in at the restaurant in the past. The rye bread crust was completely soft, no crunch. The flavor redeemed it. All in all, this was such a disappointment and will likely never dine at a TooJay's locations when near one in the future if this is what they are passing off as NY style corned beef these days. However, a shout out to the gentleman working the deli/bakery counter last night as he was the lone bright spot. read more

First time at this TooJay's and what a treat it was. The staff is so welcoming it's as if they're all one big family inviting us into their home. Nina took care of us and she was super informative, helped us land on some really great entrees. I went with the pastrami burger and my sister ordered a breakfast sandwich. We took leftovers for later and ordered some things to go. They are doing specials right now with various wraps. My sister got the BLT wrap and it was delicious. We also took a chicken noodle soup to go for our mom that really hit the spot. The banana pudding cake was one of the best cakes I've ever tried, cannot wait to go back. read more

Toojay's is tired. Thirty years ago, when this was the only place in town to get a decent bagel or deli sandwich or smoked fish, it was a little more special. Now it's... fine, acceptable, but not the best bagel in town, not the best sandwich, not the best breakfast, not the best value. During our brainstorm of places to take our mom's for Mother's Day, this was the final answer as my mother in law had never been. It was a no brainer since my mom loved matzo crackers and is obsessed with rugalach. There was no wait upon our arrival during lunch time. The hostess found us a table to accommodate mom's wheelchair. I ordered the refreshingly and not too sweet peach iced tea for my beverage. For my entree, pastrami sandwich was a must with cheese of course. Walking around the outlets today we worked up an appetite. The food options here are limited & the food court is pretty sad. We ate inside for the air conditioning and shared a mile high pastrami on rye and a potato knish for lunch. Amanda, our waitress took good care of us this afternoon. Stopped at TooJay's for dinner, and that was a big time mistake. I was served as a starter Caesar salad, I ordered it with NO croutons. As you can see, it was served WITH croutons. I ordered chopped liver, what they served me was the driest chopped liver I've ever had in my life. I ordered a turkey dinner as my main course with broccoli as the vegetable. it came with string beans. They finally did bring the broccoli, but not until I was already done with my meal. Wow!! Absolutely delicious! The Pastrami Cheese Burger is juicy, tasty and always cooked to perfection! Not too much juicy pastrami.. just the right amount! I ask for it medium rare and it was juicy and medium rare! It is most definitely "Special "!!!! It's my #1 favorite order- my next favorite is their Patty Melt! Shrimp salad sandwich is also huge! I take half home! Their all day omelettes are a huge portion and you can customize, I absolutely love their sesame bagels. Love their soups! (Not crazy about their Latkes, potato pancakes- they are always dry and overcooked) French fries and onion rings are delicious! Too full for their desserts but all of their cakes, black & whites, danish pastries are delicious! I really think TooJay's overall is a good brand. I'd say 3.5 if I could here on Yelp via stars. They also maintain the Jewish Deli vibe, and the counter staff is usually the most entertaining and juggle a lot. Food is always good, service is hit or miss. I do feel that since they were bought out the menu changes aren't hitting. Prices like everything else has gone up. They've removed some popular items from the menu. I will say if you're sick go get a quart of chicken soup. I prefer mine without noodles or matzo balls. Their egg and tuna salad is a nice little counter buy as well. Enjoy!! read more

For years Toojays has been our go-to place for any meal. Unfortunately the last 3 visits were way below par and we never were able to get out of there in under 1 1/2 hours! The waiters consistently bring only part of the meal at a time. For example today we got our breakfast eggs and then 10 minutes later got our bagels or toast and potatoes. Had to wait half an hour for more coffee. The servers don't seem to notice or care! Don't they have experience in eating out themselves? Is some of it the cooks fault? Really loved our lunch here. The staff was welcoming and friendly -- from the hostess to the server! We had to wait on line to be seated but it took less than a 5 minute wait. The hostess even helped get our drinks and set ups. Like everywhere, they are a bit short staffed. But that just gave us the time we needed to decide what to order. They have a brand new menu with lots of choices. We both opted for their 2-2 -- with soup and a half sandwich. He got chicken vegetable noodle soup and I got matza ball soup. The soups came out fairly fast and were piping hot. His soup was chock full of veggies and everything else. My matza ball was fluffy and the chicken broth was seasoned just right -- not too watery nor too salty. I got their half pastrami and he got the chopped liver. The pastrami itself was good. The chopped liver had lettuce, tomato and onion on it. It was overflowing the bread. We liked both sandwiches. The only not so good thing? The bread. My sister in-law and her family loves this place. We've been here a few times. I've had most of the breakfast items, salmon plate and chicken noodle soup. Everything I've had has been pretty decent. I would agree with what someone else said though, it has more of a diner feel than a restaurant or deli. Although, they do have a deli section. I really liked the chicken noodle soup for when I wasn't feeling well; it helped pep me back up. The place is in a shopping center with other stores so lots of parking. The staff were nice, we always tip. I'm pretty sure once we are in the area again my sister in law will have us come again. read more

First off the staff was great. We had Carlos as a server and he seemed to be going non stop. I used to frequent the locations in Coral Springs and Boca over 10 years ago. We stopped in because we were getting hangry from Holiday shopping. We both ordered the Choose Too... soup and a half sandwich. I went with the Split Pea and it was great! It came out nice and hot as did my boyfriend's Matzoh Ball Soup which he enjoyed. My corned beef sandwich was a different story. As seen in picture it was quite fatty and when I bit into the sandwich it was hard to come away without a whole piece coming out with it. The rye bread near the crust was super hard, almost like a crispy crouton.. my boyfriend's was the same. We didn't complain. We just ate around the hard parts. A can of Dr. Browns was $3.29. You know what makes no sense? When people refer to TooJay's Deli as a "Jewish deli," and that can't be further from the truth. Besides being violative of basic Kashrut Laws, i.e., among other things, by serving pork, shrimp, mixing of meat and dairy, etc., TooJay's is also violating the wonderful NYC deli tradition of brining and curing meat in-house. TooJay's serves processed meats and lower-end commercial products (you luckily won't find in the few remaining authentic NY delis), and it seems as if most of their customers neither know nor care about the difference. Authenticity aside, when we first walked into the restaurant we were rudely, and curtly, not welcomed by an employee named Hadley (sp?). When seated, our waitress forgot to put in our orders and went missing for protracted periods (for some unknown reason) - in an empty restaurant. She seemed like a nice person, and maybe she was having some personal issues, so despite the service lapses we still tipped her twenty five percent. Some of the food was better than I had expected and the prices are very reasonable. The Matzoh Ball Soup was different than any version I've had but was okay. However, the Potato Knish was dry and flavorless. The Potato Pancakes would have been fine had they not been burned to a crisp. The Turkey Dinner was certainly passable and even comes with a free soup. The young lady at the Bakery counter was the friendliest employee in the store but, unfortunately, the many baked items we ordered were terrible. TooJay's Deli is really more diner than deli, and if service would have been better the rating would have been higher. read more

Five-Star Dining Experience Yesterday, on Monday night, I had dinner at your restaurant with two friends visiting from Canada. We chose your restaurant because I've enjoyed your sandwiches at another location and wanted to share the experience with my friends. We ordered a burger, a sandwich, liver, and matzo ball soup. I tried the sandwich and burger, and both were absolutely delicious! The burger was juicy and flavorful, and the sandwich was perfect. The matzo ball soup was also outstanding--it had such a comforting, homemade quality. What truly made the evening special, though, was the exceptional service. Our waitress, who I believe was from China, was incredibly friendly, humble, and attentive, all while wearing a warm and welcoming smile. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name, but she truly deserves five stars for her outstanding service. Overall, we enjoyed a wonderful meal and an even better dining experience.
