I started with their Sweet White Italy, which had the most refreshing pear, apple, and pineapple notes. Light, crisp, and exactly the kind of wine I love. Next, I tried a Washington Riesling with delicate honeysuckle and white flower aromas -- just beautiful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to relax after a busy day. Came here for a Mom's Night Out event, and really enjoyed it! It's a cute little place in downtown Verona, and I really love the idea. You come in, hand over either a credit card or ID to the bartender, and then they give you a card to use the wine bar. I really loved being able to choose the size of the pour and then do it myself! Something satisfying in that. I liked the variety of wines on tap, and the bartender is very attentive to the machine in order to replace empty bottles. There isn't a whole lot of seating available, which is the only downfall. The restroom is fun, as the walls are decorated with photographs of previous patrons. Next time I'd like to try some snacks! Toot + Kate's has a selection of 8 red wines and 8 white s or other. They provide a large container of water in the back with glasses, and have liquor behind the bar for other drinks. How it works: You go to the bar and request a card for wine, they request a credit card in exchange. You pay at the end. I would highly recommend they collect $20 cash in the beginning for cash customers and note it on the card account. "prepaid 20" The couch in the center of the room is so comfortable and probably currently my favorite location to sit. Though it was nice looking at the items on the Etsy shelves. read more

This is a fun and intimate space with a market that downtown Verona was otherwise missing - wine! There are plenty of restaurants and pubs you can go to in the area to get some offering of wine (and an upscale Italian place next door), but to have some place dedicated to wine and various wine selections without the full meal is nice. They do have some snacks at the winebar as well, although it's nothing much (which, to be fair, is kinda the point). There's a cheese plate you can order and while the crackers are not that great, they convey the squares of cheese to your mouth so I can't complain too much! It's nice to be able to select the size you want (three options) and then select your wine from the self-serve machines. I've never found a wine I was super crazy about here, but it is definitely a fun place to enjoy a glass of wine and they usually have about ten red and ten white selections from which to choose. The atmosphere is awesome. There's a small bar that is great to sit at if it isn't full, but there are tables and couches for a more intimate gathering if you're there with a group. It looks like they do private events as well. It would be a great space to do something like a wedding shower if you were looking for that. read more

Finally made it here with my sister in law. What a charmer this place is!! Adorably decorated and cozy with great different types of seating areas for groups (although it certainly feels more on the feminine side of decor!). It's not huge but I liked that. No outdoor seating on gorgeous summer nights is a huge bummer to me though! Wine selection was pretty large but I do wish you could pour any amount vs. their smallest pour being a set $3.00-$3.50. If someone just wanted a quick taste of something $3.00 is a lot! They had some great sounding snacks so we enjoyed the plate of 6 assorted chocolates. Just enough to go with a few pours of wine :) I'll definitely be back! read more

I have been to Toot & Kate's several times, but most recently last night. Toot & Kate's offers an intimate space with comfortable seating ranging from couches to high tables to the bar. The lounge feel is the perfect atmosphere for catching up with a friend, girls night or a date night - unlike a restaurant feel, you do not have a waitress interrupting you at any point and can get up and grab more wine whenever you want! The self-serve wine displays offer any style of glass you want, three different size pours (all reasonably priced), & eight-ish reds and whites. There is truly an option for any wine drinker (plus they sell beer, seltzer and cocktails). I also tried one of the cheese boards last night. Two cheeses, crackers, honey and dried fruit for $9 on a cute marble slat. Incredibly priced for a fun cheese board in the Madison area! They offer fun events and community fundraisers all the time. Finally, the staff is welcoming and you can tell they are excited to work there. Oh, and there decor + lighting!! T&K's is truly the most magical little spot in Verona - please go give it a try! Great new concept in Verona! I absolutely love the pour your own wine thing. So the way it works is: Go to the bar, get a card for the machine (preloaded with $100). Once you are at the machine, put the card in, and there are 7 red and 7 white wines to choose from. Another great feature is that every wine has 3 different size pours: Small (just trying out something new), medium (really like this wine a lot), and large (horrible day at work). I like the small size pours because it allows me to branch out and expand my wine drinking horizons without committing to a full glass if I don't like it. The owners are incredibly nice and you can tell they really care about the place being a success, as well as being a great community member and champion for other Verona businesses. My only criticism is that they could do more with the seating. There is a lot of wasted space in the bar, and when i think wine bar I think comfy, inviting seating. Toot & Kate's is just a little lacking on that aspect. They also offer cheese and chocolate plates and offer pairing suggestions with the wine they have, which is a nice touch. Looks like a great deal for the amount of food you get. I certainly will be back many times and think this is a great addition to the Verona area. read more

Really cute space, great wine, friendly staff and owners. Right now they do mostly wine, with some beer available as well. One of the employees noted that they're planning to eventually serve hard liquor/mixed drinks. This space could easily have slipped into "super pretentious" territory, but it's completely comfortable. And the wine is mostly quite good! I bought a bottle when I found a new wine I liked thanks to the tasting. Wish they had water pitchers around so I could've stayed a bit more hydrated between wine samples. And some little snacks or something for purchase would be nice. I think they'll maybe get more of that going over time -- just opened to the public today! I was about to leave 4 stars, but one last thing pushed me to five: they have a huge TV over the bar, which felt a little out of step with the vibe of the place. Yep!! This is the place I've been waiting for. Friendly staff, cute space, and of course...wine. This, in and of itself is enough to keep me coming back for more. However, the concept of Toot and Kate's goes above and beyond! You use your ID, or credit card in exchange for a wine card. With your wine card, you can try as many (or as few) wines that are on tap as you want! Not only can you try as many as you want, but you can also choose your glass, and the size pour (just a 2 oz tasting, or a full glass)! When you're done, you cash in your wine card to pay your bill! This winebar is a gem! I didn't know what to expect when I arrived, but we were quickly greeted by one of the owners, Toots. She's awesome and the story behind why she and her sister and brother-in-law opened the place is heartwarming. They have excellent wines selections and knowledge/recommendations about each of them. The self-serve wine machine is so much fun as well. The interior decoration is so fun! Check out the walls in the bathroom-so cute! Also, be sure to browse the local artists' work on sale. A nice little wine spot right on Main Street. Find street parking, give your ID, get a key card, chose a wine glass (white vs red), insert your card into the machine, place your glass at your chosen spigot, chose your size pour (2.5 oz - taste, 5 oz - half glass, full glass), keep tasting until you can't no mo,' then return your key card for the bill. A different "tasting" experience. Your bartender is a machine, but there are knowledgeable humans present to help you make an educated choice. There are about 8 white wines and the same for red. It was nice to sample wines I wouldn't usually try or buy, like Malbec and Tempranillo. If you find something you like, they sell the whole bottles too. Some of them are high end and others are more price friendly. Downfalls: They only had one of each type of wine, ex. only one chardonnay. So it's not the place to compare different chardonnays. Also, they really could use some more seating area, as I foresee this place gaining some clientele. Lastly, some meat on the menu would be a nice addition. My fiancee and I were trying to find something to do on a Sunday afternoon, and I'm so glad I thought of this place! I saw the article in the Cap Times a few months ago and have always wanted to try it. I'm so glad I did now! Just as a warning: after this weekend they will no longer be open on Sundays. But don't let that stop you, because this place is wondeful! I LOVE the wine machines. You get your own little card and pour your own servings of wines. You can get 3 different sizes of pours for 10 different wines (5 white and 5 red). Our bartender was really attentive and talkative for a slow Sunday and really nice! She let us know that they'll be changing out the wines next week. They plan on rotating the wines every 4-6 weeks, which I think is great. They sell full bottles of the wines you taste if you want to bring one home. They also serve cheese plates which is great. If you're looking for food, they allow you to order take-out from the Italian restaurant next door and eat inside. Overall, I really like this place. It seems like a really cool place for a private event or to just hang out with a few friends. If you like wine, make the trip! read more

As a wine lover in a sea of beer drinkers I was excited to hear that Toot + Kate's had opened in Verona. The staff were friendly and helpful, the space cozy...but I came here for wine right? Their offerings consisted exclusively of popular classics, from white to red and rosé in between there's something for everyone. Beer and cocktail drinkers need not feel left out with a small selection for both. I would have liked to have seen more interesting wines, outside of the "typical restaurant wine list." My inner wine geek felt left out by omissions of more obscure terroir and grape varietals, the wines we consumed were fine just not exciting. So why 3 stars? The self-serve system. The payment card and touch screen worked 20% of the time and required staff intervention a total of 3 times. I am not adverse to self serve or even technology, but have it work effortlessly. read more

I love the idea of the self-serve wine bar as it's such an easy process: get a card, and sample at your own pace without ever having to wait for a bartender. There is a modest selection of other options behind the bar such as sangria and beer if wine isn't your thing. Admittedly, I've not been here on busy nights so perhaps it's a little different then but so far it's been super relaxed. I've had a couple of occasions where the bottle ran out before it finished my pour and the last time, whoever was behind the bar was on her way over to fix it before I even turned around.
