Long story short(ish) - I sent my 1965 Impala to them in February of 2024 for a new trunk pan, and body work (filling two holes, one on each rear quarter panel above the exhaust) as well as a paint job. Not only did I have to beg and please for photos of the car while they had it in their possession, but it took them until November of 2025 to actually send me a picture of the car and guess what; NO WORK DONE TO IT AT ALL! To make matters even worse, I didn't end up getting my car back until February of 2026 - They held my car hostage for an entire 24 months. And to my dismay, you could argue that I got the car back worse than how I sent it to them. The paint was chipped around the door jam, it's littered with drips, scratches, bubbles, and pock marks. I live in NY, and I had a local body shop guy come to look at it to see if we could save the car, but it's worse than we could imagine. The paint is only half the problem - the actual body work they did underneath the paint is warped, and I'd need to basically undo everything they did and start from scratch if I want to save my car. $10,000 down the drain. And guess what, just as a last kick in the tail - The trunk pan wasn't even replaced. They just welded the holes and put sealant to make it look like they put an entirely new one in. I wish I could do more than just write this review that most people aren't going to see, but unfortunately this is the best option for me. NEVER CONSIDER THIS PLACE A FUNCTIONING BUSINESS. - Oh yeah and one last thing to note by the way - I sent the car down to them with a high quality seal skin car cover, and got the car back with an unopened cheap $50 off brand car cover from walmart

It refused to start for a few more days after this so I got it towed. Being new to Charlotte I thought this place would be good to tow the car to due to it's great reviews and how close it was to where I lived. It is not and I have absolutely no idea how it has so many good reviews. Sadly when they investigated my vehicle the following week (not concerned about how long it took, it was during the holidays so it is understandable that it took them a while to get to it) the car started. I guess because of this they decided to not investigate the issue further, note the car still has trouble starting and will likely break down again in a few more days which I assume is what they are hoping... They either did not find the issue out of laziness or chose not to disclose it in hopes my car would be back there for another $150 "Drivability Evaluation". They charge $78 to clean rear brakes. This includes spraying your brakes with a can of $5 brake cleaner. The only thing they offered me that was priced fairly was the oil change at $66. I rejected all of these services besides sadly the fuel system service and oil change. I was under the assumption that the fuel system service actually included a full service and not just a $20 cleaning solution dumped in with my fuel. I should've asked first which is my mistake. I'm writing this review in hopes other people do not make that mistake and maybe this scam of a business can start operating fairly with the consumer in mind. UPDATE: Owner was "threatened" with a chargeback that he seems to love to overdramatize into something it's not. He seems to have a habit of misrepresenting things, especially his services. I was polite during the call while the associate on the phone was yelling and screaming and hung up on me. Also I didn't have a SO make any reviews about my experience as that is my experience and mine alone. After learning about how your business operates I most definitely took my car and left without coming back inside to ask for you to take another look. Yes, they're expensive, but they're honest and they work with you, all the while getting the job done without having to go somewhere else to fix the initial problem. They've fixed my wheel bearings, catalytic converter and miscellaneous normal maintenance routines. They also provided me with an uber to and from my house at no cost at all, while my car was being worked on even if it was just an oil change; GREAT perk in my opinion. While I agree the pricing is very high, it is a corporate owned business and the workers can't do anything about that, but that doesn't mean their employees and mechanics don't care. This is probably the ONLY Tuffy I would take my car to, because they genuinely do care. Derrick especially, he has helped me since my very first day walking in and just trying to get by, as we all are trying to do. Keep it up y'all. And thank you guys so much for all you've done.

I live in Gastonia but took my husband to work off of Sam Furr Rd, about 35 minutes away. Got all the way up there and noticed the car was trying to pull away even with my foot on the brake. Looked down to see the check engine light on and the RPMs revving up to 2k, to 3k over and over again. Now at this moment, I'm feeling sick. I have my 2 year old little girl and skittish basset hound (no Leash either). Clearly, I thought this would be a normal back and forth trip. So I yelp some auto shops in the area and go to one which will not be named, but will be receiving a review from me after this. After speaking with the front desk person for 10 minutes about how a technician has to "troubleshoot" it and drive it (remember my little girl and dog with no leash??) and how it'll cost $120 JUST FOR DIAGNOSIS I finally said "can't you just hook it up to the computer and pull the code?", he was like "oh yeah." I get the code (ECT circuit), call my mechanic & he says I can drive it home but I just bought this car. Idw take any chances. So I google and start calling shops in the area. One shop recommended Barbee Import Services since he only worked on Hondas. Now my phone is dying. I need to get gas, my dog and daughter are WAY OVER being in this car any longer. I call and let the man know my situation, the whole horrible situation. Lol He says "bring it on in." When I pull up, another gentleman starts going over the car automatically, computer hooked up, getting the VIN....within a few minutes they're wanting to pull it up to the bay. The owner graciously let me borrow a leash that had been left by another customer as well (as long as I gave it back) and I hooked up my phone to a charger in the office. So I start walking my dog around to go potty and before I know it, they're pulling the car back over to me and handing me the keys. "It was unplugged." The owner says. I was flabbergasted. "That's it? How much do I owe you?!" "Oh, nothing!" He replies. And he refused to allow me to give him any money. I was in tears. To go from some place that wanted to take advantage of me for whatever reason knowing how absolutely vulnerable I was with a child involved (not to mention, had the first shop I went to helped me the first go around, I would've been able to get my daughter from school at 2:30....something I told them as well) to this awesome small business that valued their integrity and customers care....it truly restored my faith in humanity. (I need to add, I get the first place is trying to run a business but sometimes situations arise where you can be a good human being instead of make money. I had money, just not for what they were asking for.) In any case, I fully intend to bring my cars back to Barbee Import Services, despite living 45 minutes away because I KNOW they will be serviced correctly and with my full trust.
