I am super thankful to Denise and her assistant for taking care of my fur baby, Gypsy. Gypsy is long- haired, and unfortunately also is not a huge fan of being brushed...so her coat got incredibly matted. I took her to Denise and we discussed that a lion's cut would be best because of the severity of the matting. We ended up having to split up Gypsy's cut into two sessions because she was very stressed during the first one. I thankfully was able to get her a light sedative from the vet for the second time. I stayed both times and let me tell you, this was no easy job. I have so much respect for Denise and what she does! And though my cat may not have enjoyed the haircut process, she clearly felt so much better! She's been grooming herself like 90% more, and has been way more cuddly, affectionate, and playful! Luna is very docile but also very, very timid and shy so i was very anxious. When my husband made the appointment and told him we could stay with her, i was so surprised. We not only stayed with her, they welcomed us to the groom room while they made her beautiful again! Luna was very matted as she is not a fan of brushing & we were NOT judgmental at all. They were both so gentle with her, she stayed so calm the whole time! After trying everything and losing a kitten to flea anemia, Denise agreed to de-flea the cats while I flea-bombed my apartment. In August my wife and I adopted a sweet, two month old kitten from a local shelter. We named him Yuki and we started looking into ensuring all his needs were met. When we adopted him we thought he was a Russian Blue mix due to his eyes and coat color. But as his fur continued to grow out to a medium length and he started showing a strong interest in climbing it became clear he had another breed in him too, Nebelung. With these traits starting to show themselves it became necessary to look into a groomer for him to help keep his dander down so as not to aggravate my wife's allergies (which thank fully are partially kept in check by his Russian Blue side). I reached out to Ms. Denise to discuss costs for a kitten grooming session and what Yuki needed. After further discussion we agreed that it would be best to wait till he was beyond his three month birthday so he could gain some more weight and grow more. So last week, I called her back and setup an appointment, going over what Yuki needed to have done. Yuki has taken several car rides before today's trip to the Top Cat & Tails, but they were all to the V-E-T's office, so when we arrived he seemed confused as to why the trip in the car had been so short (his vet is in West Nashville, near the shelter we adopted him from). Ms. Denise and her assistant were so excited to meet Yuki and being the confident mojito cat that he is, he took to their love and fawning over him instantly. Being a kitten his grooming session was shorter than that of an adult cat. They bathed him and shampooed his fur coat, they trimmed his fur so it was uniform and not so wild, clipped his claws, and cleaned up his fur coat so it was free of loose fur blowing him dry and vacuuming up any loose fur. Being his first grooming experience, he was a little scared when it was all said and done, but his fur coat was shiny and clean and he still loved being held by Ms. Denise. After getting home he settled right down and appears far more comfortable around the house than I have seen him in weeks. Will definitely be returning for future grooming sessions as needed to keep Yuki feeling and looking his best. Pro-tip: If your having trouble finding her shop, you have to go behind the building and down to the lowest level, and it's right there. The owners are very nice and truly care about the cats. They seem genuinely concerned about the well-being of the cats they groom and take care of. I have taken my Persian cats here for a couple of years for grooming and we have had a good experience with them. However, the last time I took my cats there they developed ringworm two weeks after the grooming. My cats are indoor animals and have no contact with other animals. During the last grooming they both got closely shaved, and most likely, contracted ringworm through a nick in their skin. I contacted the owner to let her know and suggested better disinfecting of her instruments and grooming environment. Instead of owning the issue and promising better sanitary conditions in the future, she argued with me and tried to convince me that ringworm is airhorn! It is very disappointing!!! I have spent close to $500 on treatment of two cats so far, and for sure will be looking for another groomer. read more

The most amazing, and brave, ladies work here. They groom cats and are one of the few places around that will in Nashville. I needed an immediate appointment for my long haired cat that had several mats on her body. They had an appointment available the next day. I warned them she was skittish but they still accepted her. The minute we walked in we were greeted and made to feel like we were long standing clientele. We were able to be with our kitty while they worked to remove the mats. And when I say worked... I mean worked! Roo, our cat, was trying to give these two wonderful ladies a run for their money! Where most other groomers would say, "sorry, we can't work with this cat" ... they instead showed every bit of love, patience, and consideration to Roo. She is young and had been in a shelter up until we adopted her so this was a fairly new experience for her with a groomer. They considered this along with how stressful this might be on her and showed nothing but the upmost love and care. We were shown tools that would help us keep our kitty mat free and even how to make her next visit a much better one.
