Foxhole Pub - Brandy Alexander - basically a delicious, boozy soft-serve second to NONE

A friend had recommended checking out the Foxhole after her last visit here - she said the small…read moretown vibe was great and the old fashioned were great. I've always liked the Sparta side of Fort McCoy better than Tomah, as it just seems more like an individual small town versus a big-box thoroughfare. What a wonderful recommendation, I had a fantastic visit. My co-worker can second the old fashioneds! Staff was super friendly and service was attentive. Clearly there are locals and regulars coming in that know each other by name, but being out-of-towners we were still treated the same and welcomed. We sat at the bar (always my preference), but there is plenty of restaurant seating if you come here with a group or with your family. They have a decent beer selection on tap, and the menu can cover pretty much all appetites. I ordered the veggie burger, which was somewhat generic but nevertheless tasty and I ate the whole thing. Overall, I'd say the food here is good - maybe nothing crazy unique, but good, especially with the somewhat limited options in the area if you want to stay away from chains and fast food. I will absolutely be back for another dinner and continue to try out options on the menu. I'd really love to do the fish fry if I'm ever here on a Friday night. But, who needs dinner when you have dessert?! OMG I'd seen some photos of their desserts online, and even though I'm not usually a dessert person, these photos drove me here that night! Wow. The Brandy Alexander is absolutely incredible. It's large but my co-worker and I each ordered our own (and finished it completely). Anyone can make a Brandy Alexander you sip from a cup... but this was like a soft serve goblet of ice cream with the booze mixed in throughout. The BEST. I will be back here every time I'm in the area just for this (and then good food and beer is always a nice add-on).

Nice sports bar. Food was what you expect. Not phenomenal, but enough to get you full…read more Atmosphere was good, not Smokey. Service was good, prompt and friendly. A place I would go to meet up with friends and just enjoy hanging out.

I've eaten here in the distant past. It is as good now as it was then…read more The staff is friendly and the service is quick. The food is also quick. The food includes the Irish stuff you would expect, and in the past they've been great. Think fish & chips, Shepards pie (actually cottage). My friend and I had sandwiches this visit and they were great. The menu says you get chips. What you get is a generous portion of deep fried potato rounds, just a little thick. Some crunchy and some a little soft. The dill pickle... not my favorite but that's my take. Do Not skip the appetizer. The mushrooms are amazing. They are roasted or braised, and they are delicious. There are Irish beers here including Guinness, Harp, etc. or if you prefer something else there's a full bar.

Had looked forward to having Walleye fish my entire visit in Minn/Wis and I wasn't disappointed. I…read moregrew up in the area and Walleye is fished by both locals and pros. I was delighted they had it on the menu. One lady was the bartender, order taker, waitress and even bused all the tables. This is the Midwest work ethic I was raised with! She did a great job all the while maintaining a smile and good humor with the customers. Every table including the bar was filled and everybody left happy, including us. My friend had a Ruben sandwich w/ coleslaw and I had the deep fried Walleye sandwich with chips. It got real quiet while we were eating which is a good sign the food was good. The accompanying potato chips were fabulous! Never had fries done this way. They are thin like a chip but actually fried potato medallions. Definitely will come back when in the area again.
