    Cajun hotdog Bacon Cheese hotdog

For those craving a real dog (not beef), stop on by this cool food truck attached to a taxi. It's right across from Cumberland Farms. This truck is seasonal, so catch them while you can! They have a few hotdog choices, but take notice, it is cash only. I went with the bacon cheese & the Cajun. Yes, if you're a full grown adult, you will need to purchase two for a fill up. The dogs are on the skinny side compared to a grote & wiegel (I'm showing my age). Nonetheless, they are satisfying. At first when seeing the sliced deli cheese, I was disappointed but hey, I do the same thing at home, so I knew it was still going to be good. For the Cajun, I went for the mild relish instead of hot, & it was great! Kinda wish I had more. The bacon was sliced not bits. That's a thumbs up for me. Each bite consists of bacon. I did notice condiments aren't readily available...I'm addicted to Ketchup. There is seating outside with umbrellas, but no tables. Do you really need them though. When I have another hankering, I'll be sure to head here.

Oh man, there are no words to describe Top Dog. Actually there are... just an awesome simple steamed Thumann's hot dog, with a snapping casing that pops when you bit into it, with all the fresh homemade toppings, plus your choice of beverage served from a hot dog shaped trailer towed by a vintage yellow cab. You can put that into a TV ad jingle! However, if you are looking for a fancy hot dog with all the frills & glamour, toasted bun, bunch of toppings to choose from, etc... then this won't be the place for you. Top Dog keeps it simple by having a very limited menu with limited toppings to choose from; but everything here is homemade and fresh. I have not had a hot dog here I did not like. My favorite is the Cajun Dog all the way and the Kraut Dog with spicy mustard. This place is cash only! Make sure to bring bills $20 or smaller as they tend not to take larger bills.

The sauerkraut here is homemade and you can tell...its great.

How could you not like this place?! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and an awesome menu. We tried the reuben dog, taco dog and guilty pleasure dog with the Cajun fries. Dogs are messy but fun.... loved the taco dog! Cajun fries were too salty but appreciate that they are made in house! (Wish they had sweet potato fries with a fun dipping sauce though!) Can't wait to go back and try more creations!

Riley's is much nicer inside than you'd ever expect from a hot dog place. There's a lot of space,…read moreeverything is clean, and the whole setup has a trendy industrial feel that works really well. Even the bathrooms were noticeably nice, particularly for such a fast-paced lunch spot. I had the Chicago Dog and the House Dog. We've been on the hunt for a good Chicago dog that's, you know... closer than Chicago, so I was glad to see one on the menu. It was quite good, but not what I expected based on the ones I remember from Chicago. This version leaned heavier on the relish and toppings, didn't have the bright green relish, and ended up a little messier overall. It did match exactly what the menu described, though, so that part's on me for not reading it more closely. All that micro-complaining aside, I'd get it again--though I may first try to work through the extensive menu a bit. There are some great options, and you should expect to struggle deciding (maybe check the menu in advance). The House Dog was delicious, but also pretty messy--definitely grab some napkins. Prices were a tiny bit higher than I'd expect for hot dogs, but the quality, presentation, and overall vibe seemed aligned with that. Overall, Riley's is a great option if you want a nicer sit-down hot dog experience with lots of choices and a comfortable atmosphere. I'd go back, especially to try more of the specialty dogs.

Joint # 76: THE HOT DOG GIRL, Haddam, CT. The Hot Dog Girl has been slinging dogs since May 2002…read morefrom her very own hot dog cart. Lauren, a.k.a. The Hot Dog Girl, had a super friendly disposition and smiled as soon as we exited the car. Her love for hot dogs dates back to her youth in New Britain, where she would patronize the local joints for Martin Rosol's, Inc. Hot Dogs. Today, Lauren stays true to her roots and sells the very same dogs she grew up on. Trust us when we say that this roadside cart is nothing to overlook folks!! Swing in and see what we're talking about. RATING(S): J. Diggity Dog: 8.5/10, Dog Man Sac: 8.5/10. J. Diggity said, "Martin Rosol, dirty water, gotta love it. Natural casing dog. This thing had a great snap and a lot of flavor. Chili, got a little bit of flavor out of it, wasn't spicy. Had to wait for a little clearing, there was a lot of onion in there, which kind of covered up the flavor of the chili, but it was still good. Also tried some of the relish, we had half on there. That was also delicious, you got to try it, it was homemade with it's own little recipe. Overall, I liked the dog, had a lot of snap, had a lot of flavor. It was a bigger dog, not the thinner restaurant-style dogs. I'm going to give Lauren with The Hot Dog Girl an 8 and a half." Dog Man Sac said, "We did have the Martin Rosol dirty water, delicious. You know what I liked about it (to J. Diggity)? ... it was very, very hot! It was piping hot. I also liked the condiments. The chili probably could have used a bit more spice for my liking, but the relish made up for it. Lauren makes a homemade relish, it's delicious. I highly recommend it if you come down. Definitely get the relish. I am a Dog Man Sac 8.5 for The Hot Dog Girl." -THE DAWG TOUR
