When I moved to Athens, I realized that getting a scooter would likely be a good idea. After seeing the ads for Top Dog in the Flagpole for their deal on the Owl Bolt, I decided that's where I'd go. It was a great decision. They treat you like family in a warm, friendly atmosphere telling you all about the scooters and their capabilities/hazards. You can test drive there in the lot and they'll even give you a little instruction before hand if you're a novice. Truly, it's a great place to shop and buy your scooter. I had a horrible experience with Top Dog. They act very nice when they want you to buy a scooter -- so much so that I sent them a Christmas card with $$ in it b/c I thought we would have a good customer-business relationship. BUT after you buy the scooter, they are EXTREMELY RUDE and RIP YOU OFF. I bought my scooter new from them and within several months parts started falling off. They did not honor my warranty and when I went back in after asking them to repair a mirror they had DUCK TAPED it together AND CHARGED ME FOR THE DUCK TAPE JOB. The part broke off again two days later. I also asked for a quote on a very simple job and the guy told me "no more than X" and then I went in and he charged me $30 more than X b/c he had to put in an extra screw. Stay away. I'd recommend buying a scooter off of Craigslist or looking at the other scooter shops on Baxter (which I discovered after buying my scooter!). read more

Horrible experience... Lacked profession... Can't fix what you ask them to... When they say they will call you back they never do. Now I discourage people to get a scooter in Athens, especially when shops like one are the only people that you can depend on. What a waste of my money read more

I bought a scooter from Top Dawg about three months ago, and have been very satisfied with them. The scooter itself has had a couple issues, mostly due to what seems to be some shotty assembly; it had a few loose connections here and there that caused things to not function quite as they should. Anyhow, the staff at Top Dawg has been terrific. When I bought the scooter, they didn't pressure me to buy or anything like that, and were very knowledgable and glad to take their time answering all my questions. Since I've bought the scooter, they've also taken very good care of me. The scooter broke down early on, and one of the owners came out to where I was to service the scooter, and was there about five minutes after I called him. Also, they've been quick and friendly about taking care of any other problems that had come up. I'd definitely recommend checking them out if you're thinking about buying a scooter! read more

CORRUPT PLACE. Came here twice to get my moped fixed. First time, my engine would die and said that I needed a new carburetor. Didn't think much of it and asked for a quote that they would give me later that week. They called me later that week to tell me they fixed my moped and it will cost $100. I was upset that they did not even ask to confirm if I wanted the repairs done. Anyways, I came into the store and paid off my bill and he mentioned my wheel was FLAT and asked if I wanted repairs. I declined as my skepticism has skyrocketed at this point. I took my moped and touched my wheels to see that they were perfectly fine. In two weeks I had another moped issue in which my engine would not start! I specifically told them NOT to do repairs until i have gotten a quote. They called me during that week and said they have repaired my vehicle and it's $100. Outraged I came to the store pay for my repairs and left. Little did you know, my bike broke down 1 week later. HORRIBLE PLACE. Don't ever come here. read more

I went here in need of a new battery, front turn signal light, and oil change. The man I spoke with who did the work charged me $44 for the battery which by the way was not even the right size. He told me that my scooter had a bigger battery but he would put in one that was smaller and do a great job. Well fast forward two hours and the battery died. He charged me $30 for labor which took only thirty minutes maybe 40 at most and said he didn't charge me for the bulb however I was charged $5 for it on the receipt and he even told me he literally put an old plastic cover over it and that the bulb was fine. I had heard bad things about this shop but I didn't think they would rip me off on something as little as a battery and light. Oh and after "adjusting" my loose rear brake, now it screeches when i ride it. So all in all the place is cheap and they rip you off. At least that was my experience. read more

THEY SELL PIECE OF CRAP SCOOTERS. I bought a brand new scooter from them, and a week after buying the scooter it wouldn't start. I took it in to get it fixed, they said the idle was broken, and they "fixed it" so that everytime I stopped at a red light or stop sign, the engine shut off and wouldn't crank back up. Which is really embarrassing having cars honk at you bc your scooter is blocking the intersection. I finally took it to someone I trusted to fix it, and even after paying money to get new parts for it, the scooter still won't crank 90% of the times I try to start it. Only buy a scooter from here if you consistently want to be late to class/tests/work because your scooter won't start or it dies on the way to school. Also, the service is HORRIBLE. They sit back in their back room and watch TV all day long, and they make you walk back there to ask them to fix the crappy scooter they sold you. And they treat you like you are bothering them when they have to get up off the couch to fix your scooter. I SERIOUSLY regret buying a scooter from this business. Buying a parking permit would have been way cheaper in the long run, and way more reliable. read more
