The receptionist was so courteous and accurately relayed everything I told her was going on with my vehicle to the mechanics and went above and beyond to make sure I would leave with a fully functional vehicle. I had taken my car to 2 other shops (Eagle auto & Tom O'Brien) who both told me I needed 2 lists of totally different repairs. IAM went through the list and explained to me why I did or didn't need each item and the receptionist even shared photos from the mechanic of items like the air filter to prove it actually needed replacing. This is the most transparent and honest service shop I have ever been to. I have had zero issues with my vehicle since servicing here.

We were told it was offsite getting detailed, which I thought was unusual. Our salesperson drove us to the detailing shop so we could test drive it. During the test drive, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The problems started almost immediately after we signed the paperwork. As we were pulling out of the dealership, a yellow warning light came on that said, "Park Brake Limited Function - Service Requested." We assumed it was a minor issue, but the warning appeared every time we drove the vehicle. On one occasion, the warning turned red and the parking brake wouldn't release. We had to leave the vehicle where it was and return the next day to retrieve it. The much bigger issue is the engine. It makes a terrible noise on a cold start, and because the SUV was already warm from being driven to the detailing shop, we never had the opportunity to hear it before purchasing. Even after it warms up, the engine has a constant rattling noise that clearly isn't normal. I took the SUV to my local Ford dealership, where I was quoted approximately $6,000 for engine repairs and another $600 to repair the parking brake issue. I immediately contacted Indy Auto Man. The first question they asked was whether I had purchased the extended warranty. We declined the warranty because we reasonably expected major issues like these to be disclosed before the sale. At this point, I honestly question whether the vehicle was thoroughly inspected when it was traded in. Indy Auto Man did offer to repair the engine for around $4,000, but that still leaves me paying thousands of dollars for problems that existed when I bought the vehicle. I also asked if I could trade the SUV back in and purchase something else. They told me they would only accept it at its current trade-in value--despite my owning it for less than two weeks--and then subtract the cost of the repairs. In other words, I was left with no reasonable options. Yes, I've learned an expensive lesson about buying a used vehicle. However, I also expected the dealership to stand behind what they sell and take some responsibility for serious mechanical issues that surfaced immediately after the purchase. Instead, I was left with a vehicle needing thousands of dollars in repairs and very little support from the dealership.
