Popular donut shop I have been wanting to try and finally stopped by today right as they opened. Inside is cute with shelves of books but seating was not comfortable so I wouldn't stay long and visit or read a book. Donut offerings behind the glass looked as you would see expect. Tried the Bavarian cream filled and the donut did not feel fresh and was "heavy." Frosting on top was too thick as well. Also tried a lemon filled bizmark with powdered sugar on top. This donut was much better, although I had to scrape off excess sugar. I have 2 or 3 other donut places in the area I like more so I probably won't be back. read more

After trying the Top Pot Doughnuts offerings in the grocery stores around where I live, I decided to come to the Tacoma store to try the salted caramel old fashioned since I was in the area for the 2023 Pac-12 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at King County Aquatic Center. The parking spaces around the store were full when I arrived, but after waiting a short while a spot opened up and I took it. The entrance was easy to find, doughnuts on display were labeled, and they had the salted caramel old fashioned I was looking for. Placing my order and payment was quick, the price with tax was $2.70. Eating the doughnut, it took a fews bits for the caramel flavor to saturate, and it did not become overpowering by the time I finished. There's a few tables to dine in with a beautiful street view to people watch while the sun shines through the glass walls of the shop. There's an amazing selection of hand crafted donuts in flavors that you wouldn't think of off hand. I ordered an Americano with steamed coconut milk and caramel drizzle. Hands down our go to place for doughnuts. Being a NOC shift worker, always on the hunt for great early morning eats. There are not too many things that trump freshly glazed Krispy Kremes. However, there is a caveat. Like many things, there's a window of opportunity to enjoy them. Because these are made early in the morning, I personally wouldn't get them after 1100. Dont even bother at noon . However, if you can, order them as early as you can. With all the app delivery coupons, we tend to get these via delivery. Hooray! Top Pot now has a Tacoma location! That is great news! I have been to Top Pot in Seattle a couple of times. In the past truth be told I felt like some of their doughnuts were perhaps a bit inconsistent. Some of their doughnuts I enjoyed while others were just fair. At this location however I went here twice in one weekend! I went here on my own on a Saturday and came here again on Sunday with Steve. Both times I really liked what I selected here. They were cake doughnuts with sugar on top which proved to be very enjoyable! One of the days here I got a small Chai tea which was good as well. The place can get pretty busy and a significant line can develop. It is most likely to occur on Saturdays when the Farmer's Market is going on here but on the Sunday we went here it our order was quite speedy! read more

This is my first time here at this proctor district location and i can say it is pretty empty, just me and another dude! It's a large space and it's a cute study or date cafe. I love the simplicity of the design and the sophisticated feel to it. There are book shelves against the wall that have books filled with different authors such as Irving Stone, William Styron and more. I have come here several times to get work done on telecommuting days...it's generally a good quiet place to work (80s pop soundtracks notwithstanding) and I have yet to be here when it was crowded, although I usually am here after the morning buy-donuts-to-take-to-work crowd would have rolled through. I know, I know...they're DONUTS for flub's sake, they're supposed to be sweet, but these donuts, especially the old fashioneds, are so sugary that they make your teeth vibrate. On the other hand, the people who work here are also very sweet (see what I did there?). And, despite what I said in the previous paragraph, the Valley Girl Lemon might be the best donut I've had from any donut shop in the Puget Sound area...mayhap the tartness of the lemon curd filling is just enough to counter the sweetness. If the plan was to successfully execute snarky, condescending customer service to sell expensive donuts & pastries... congratulations! They've reached their objective towards mediocrity! Not a stranger to Top Pot, it was my first visit to this location and I wasn't impressed. The store layout was well done, music wasn't too loud. There are plenty of tables to sit and talk or read Mark Twain from their well crafted library. Chairs hurt your rear after 10 minutes but it works. The latte wasn't much to celebrate.... was rather weak. No almond milk. Boo hiss. The Harvest Squash bread wasn't bad. It could have been mixed a bit better before baking (try to say that real fast 10 times) but overall it was good. 4 bucks a slice was steep. Most items have a color coded price indicator that is aligned with a chalkboard behind the back counter. It takes some practice for first time visitors and can be a pain if there a line behind you. It doesn't help when the staff that's helping you just walks away from the transaction. Yep. That happened. The customer service killed it for me. The stale donuts nailed the coffin. I'll probably continue to use another source for our business meeting edibles and avoid it for our social functions. read more
