This updated review is based on the Mother's Day tea snacks they had for preorder. They were all absolutely incredible and I really wish this is something they can do more often because it was a great way to not only sample more of their items, but to enjoy them fresh even from the comfort of one's home. We picked up the box the Saturday before Mother's Day and we ate things slowly, the baking directions worked perfectly for us and the jams or spreads provided were perfect. I just wish they labeled them so we'd know what fruits were in them for anyone with intolerances/allergies. Overall, we will be back and I discovered new favorite items; I just hope they're on the regular menu!

Beautiful multipurpose building. So sweet and charming. Very busy and already running low or sold out of items. Completely gluten free. Delicious looking cookies, pastries, quiches and breads. Coffee and tea available as well.

Omg where has this been all my gluten free life?! Where do I begin?? The cakes? The variety of bread loaves and muffins? Their meat filled pasties?? You had me at..all of the above..and I did in fact sample.. all of the above.. in one sitting. It's one of my prouder moments. Highlights? The German chocolate cake was to die for and the beef empanada goes perfectly with whatever it is you're wearing, so just get both. Long line but worth it. Fully gluten-free and they take it very seriously not allowing any outside food that could cross contaminate. There is a little seating in the vicinity, but lots of people seemed to grab and go. Arrive early if you desire cinnamon roll goodness.. and who doesn't desire cinnamon rolly goodness?

I'm not a gluten free person but this place is so beautiful I had to give it a try -- especially since I'd heard so much about it. Well, it's a really beautiful spot and it's gluten free. The peanut butter cookie was wonderful, so peanuty and soft and the coffee was okay. But really you go to the Wren's Nest for the aesthetic experience. The design is exquisite (especially for Tacoma!) and it feels like a magical getaway the moment you walk in. A perfect spot to grab something warm on your way to or from Point Defiance Park on a cold day.

Lots of happy faces this morning at 8:51 on a Saturday morning in Wren's Nest Bakery. There was a large line of patrons wanting gluten-free pastries, coffee and lattes this morning. The bakery looks amazing, This bakery reminds me of something you would find in San Francisco or New York City. Everything is made fresh daily. Not knowing what to get, one of the customers was adamant that I try the bagels and cinnamon rolls. That was great advise. The bagels were amazing and my wife loved the cinnamon roll. Their coffee and latte were fantastic. We also bought a few slices of their gluten-free cakes, of which they have lots to choose from.

Gem of a bakery that is gluten free. They really are thoughtful about that and do not allow outside food or drinks. There is ample and variety of seating for studying, to grab a bite at, or to chit chat with a treat. They even have rooftop seating with a gorgeous view to the water which opens at 9am. Some of the items I've tried and enjoyed were the mushroom and Gruyère quiche, cherry hand pie, and Rosa's pound cake. I tried their snickerdoodle and chocolate chip cookies which tasted good but I have a preference for a crispier cookie. I am eager to come back as I've heard that their chocolate tea cake is delicious.

    I'm finally here!

Ooh... I debated whether to write this review because this place is already bursting with crowd every morning and pretty much stays like that all day on Fridays and Saturdays. There is a very good reason for it though, because Wren's is an exclusively Gluten-free bakery and they also offer several baked goods that are also both Gluten-free and Dairy-free. I have tried most of their stuff except for savory items and macarons, and they are all exceptionally delicious, freshly baked using very high quality ingredients. And can I tell you how beautifully baked they are? Like... their cake slices are so perfectly cut and each bite is balanced without being overly sweet or dry. My favorite is their Strawberry Cream cake, I think it's seasonal but if you can't decide on what to get from there, this is it. They offer scones, cookies, croutons, pretzel bites and breads all baked in house in their beautiful, clean kitchen. They do not allow outside food or drinks, rightfully so because they are special diet restricted bakery. The bakery cafe itself is amazing with plenty of seats in nooks and corners, fireplace-side tables, and even roof-top tables on nice day out. The staff are friendly, coffee can take some time, and when you order, they don't bag it for you on the spot, you have to wait aside until it's boxed for you (it's very nicely packed), which makes the wait time longer. They're located on the same street as the way that leads to Tacoma Point Defiance Ferry Terminal, so parking is street-parking only and can be tricky, but doable. They won this year's Best Bakery in the South Sound by the Puget Sound Journal so come early, and pack a lot of patience if you're coming on a Saturday. I noticed a lot of reviews talk about price. It's not your average bakery, slices of cake is about $11.00, but my personal experience around other bakeries in the area, this is not expensive at all considering they are Gluten-free and very presentable, delicious baked goods. Enjoy!

This is a great spot for gluten intolerance. They make delicious gluten free breads that don't sacrifice flavor. The Kolaches make for a tasty, hearty breakfast or brunch treat. I love the historic building delicately renovated. Outdoor / indoor seating makes it a great spot for summer and winter.

Wrens Nest is always a five star experience! I found this bakery 2 to 3 months ago and cannot stay away! It is dedicated gluten-free yet I don't tell my friends who can tolerate gluten my little secret! On Saturdays, they make the cinnamon rolls and they were always flying out the door!! My favorite go to meal is the sausage egg and cheese kolash and a cappuccino. I almost always take home a slice of carrot cake. Sooooo good!!! Inside, it's one of the nicest, most relaxing places in Tacoma. The natural wood elements blend in nicely with our Pacific Northwest vibe. Service is always spot on, the crew is genuinely nice. Lorene and Cliff are two of the owners and I see them there often. I have a service dog, and it never fails that they ask me the same questions every time we come in, yet they are valid questions about service dogs. I appreciate that they stick to the questions they are allowed to ask and don't make us feel bad about coming to enjoy breakfast every week or so. Come check out Wren's Nest Baking, you will not be disappointed !

Yes, it's on the pricier side but this is one of those "you get what you pay for" moments. No artificial taste, no shortcuts just clean, intentional ingredients that you can actually taste. It is a small, woman owned business that serves a customizable menu that is also aesthetically pleasing. It was quite hard to navigate the way to the store front walking from Ruston Way Waterfront, since the area is still being renovated. What looked like it would be a short walk over, ended up being a way longer walk with all the fencing still up. Once we finally arrived at the Waterfront Market at Ruston, I ordered the Blue Belly, which includes pineapple, banana, avocado, agave, vanilla protein, collagen, hyaluronic acid, vitamin D3 + K2, and spirulina. The barista asked for what kind of milk I wanted in the smoothie, but I don't remember if I defaulted to whole milk or asked for an alternative. My total ended up being $14.31. All the smoothies are served in 20oz cups, so as of right now you can't change the size. The smoothie was very banana forward, as I expected whenever a smoothie has banana in it. The smoothie was good regardless and tasted very fresh. One suggestion I have to make it easier for the staff and customers at Belly Smoothie is to write down the customers name on the cups. There was a bit of confusion when solely the drink names were announced for customers to grab.

Our first experience was quite pleasant--I enjoyed a Bloody Mary (Bunny's Brew) and a burger, while my husband savored some wine along with the spicy pork belly sandwich. We also started with a meatball appetizer. Overall, we appreciated the good service, charming ambiance, and delicious food. Our second visit was even better, especially sitting by the window with stunning views. Once again, the service was excellent, and the food was truly tasty. I had another Bloody Mary (Cooper & Salt Bloody) and spaghetti pomodoro. I can't quite recall what my husband ordered, but I remember sharing a delightful Tiramisu for dessert. By the third time, we came with the family to enjoy dessert after lunch. Most recently, during our fourth visit with friends, we found that the service and menu remained consistently enjoyable. All in all, this is a fantastic place to dine, with beautiful outdoor views--even on rainy days. My one curiosity is whether the menu changes? Although every visit has been wonderful, seeing some new dishes would make the experience even more special!

Once we realized the error, we informed the waitress, confident that her oversight would be handled with care. Unfortunately, instead of it being handled in a professional and apologetic way, her "manager" claiming to be the "owner", came over and began questioning us and implying that we had done something wrong. We simply wanted a receipt showing proof of the cancelled transaction in case the first payment went through. Though, he didn't provide adequate documentation only saying- "don't worry, it didn't go through". Had the cookies and cream and tiramisu and they were creamy and tasted fittingly to their names. The former had chunks and crumbles of chocolate sandwich cookies and the latter imparted a pleasant coffee liqueur flavor. Their products include mainly gelato in about 18 flavors, including popular ones like mint chip, chocolate, sea salt caramel, creme brûlée, and raspberry sorbetto. The bourbon apple pie and maple pecan caught my eye and would be flavors I'd like to try next time if they're around. They also carried about a dozen flavors of fudge in some creative flavors like caramel macchiato, cotton candy, black cherry bourbon, and dark espresso. Rounding out the assortment was about a dozen different flavors of chocolate truffles, plus a selection of other chocolates. There was one staff member manning the stand, she was friendly though our interaction was brief. The stand itself was neat, organized and clean, the printed sign hung on the back wall of the stand made me think this was a relatively new business trying to get its feet off the ground. There's seating at tables in a shared open area used by multiple stands/restaurants. Bathrooms are shared with the market facilities and parking is located directly in front of the market.
