We ended up driving to the 34th Street location instead. My husband decided to sign up for a full year since his busy schedule wouldn't allow him to return just to complete the signup process. I, however, insisted on trying it out first. Luckily, I did. The gym was tiny, dank, and dirty. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, with men walking around grunting and even farting--definitely not my scene. My husband, on the other hand, decided to stick with it due to its proximity to our home. He figured the low cost and convenience made it worthwhile, so he developed a routine and stuck with it. Then the hurricane hit, and the gym was closed for over a month. My husband lost his routine, and I didn't want him going back because we never saw any professional remediation company address potential hurricane damage. Despite our concerns, when we tried to cancel his membership, the nightmare got worse. We called the 34th Street location (where we signed up) to cancel, only to be told they couldn't process it because the 34th location had "never closed." That's despite the fact that Pasadena--the gym he actually used --had been flooded. We were forced to sign up at 34th only because the Pasadena location was never open for signups, but their records clearly showed his usage at Pasadena. In the end, they refused to cancel his membership and scammed him out of over $500 for a service he couldn't even use.

Love it. Clean and great facility. Awesome to work out in. It couldn't have been better. My gym…read moreaway from home.

Stress, grief, trauma, anxiety, and major life changes can leave us feeling exhausted, disconnected, and stuck. That's one of the reasons I'm such a believer in personal training. The Athleticus has been a wonderful reminder that movement is medicine. Exercise isn't just about losing weight or fitting into a smaller pair of jeans. It's about feeling stronger, thinking more clearly, sleeping better, and reconnecting with yourself when life has knocked you down. What I love about the trainers here is that they genuinely care. You don't feel like a number. You feel seen. They meet you where you are and help you move forward one step at a time. Some days that means pushing harder. Other days it means celebrating the fact that you showed up. The facility is beautiful, the energy is positive, and the coaching is top-notch. Hands down the best personal training available in St. Pete/Gulfport I've seen firsthand how physical movement can support emotional healing, and I wish more people understood that connection. If you're carrying stress, grief, burnout, or just feeling disconnected from yourself, investing in your health can be one of the most powerful things you do. I wish more of my coaching clients lived locally so I could refer/recommend them to this spot!

Every trainer I've worked with has a deep understanding of both physical therapy and strength training, which really sets this place apart. They don't just put you through workouts, they build a program around your body, your limitations, and your goals. It feels personal, thoughtful, and safe, while still helping you get stronger over time. If you're looking for something beyond a typical gym or rushed physical therapy, this is it. Highly recommend.

While in St. Pete Beach, Florida, visiting my mom for Christmas, I was eager to continue on my yoga journey, even while on vacation. Luckily, Nava Yoga Studio was within walking distance of my mom's condo. Additionally, they were offering a wonderful new student special where you could partake in two weeks of unlimited yoga classes for $50. Both my mother and I signed up and have since taken three classes. Each of the instructors has been incredibly well-versed with their own unique style. The three classes have all been a variation of Vinyasa, or flow yoga. I like how the flow can be adapted based on your level of experience. My mom has been looking for a much deeper stretch while I really look to push and challenge myself. The studio itself is quaint and can probably only hold 12 to 15 people comfortably. They do use an app to have you reserve your spot ahead of time but also accept drop-in students for $20 per class (space permitting). They offer a variety of classes both in-studio, virtually on zoom, as well as some beach yoga. If you are like me, visiting from out of town, they do have yoga mats that you can rent for two dollars per session. Nava has been an absolute highlight of my Christmas vacation in Florida.
