Soma's best kept secret for affordable and quick nails! I don't really look for fancy in a nail salon, just good service, longevity, tidy craftsmanship. The interior of Polished Nest gives off shabby chic vibes rather than the sterile uppity environment some nail shops can have. I don't really do gel or dip powder anymore for the health of my nails. While Polished Nest does offer these longer lasting options, they don't have the widest breadth of shades and finishes (e.g. jelly nails) but they are always nice about using colors I bring from home. I love that they are super responsive and communicative about appointments and their website is updated with the latest services/pricing. Even with a regular mani/pedi (not gel) I find my nails last at minimum 2 weeks! They must use a really great base/top coat! Their regular polishes are the standard Essie and Opi brands. As with most nail places they prefer a cash tip so make sure to bring some! read more

Tucked between SOMA and Mission Bay, Polished Nest is an adorable, homey, and quality nail/beauty salon. The quality of the gel manicures and regular manicures is far above many of the other spots around town. The interior feels like you're in your fancy aunt's living room and you and all your friends are lounging around, getting your nails done. A different kind of vibe, but it's really grown on me & I prefer it to the more medical-feeling facilities. The color selection is good, they have a whole pallet of neutrals, as well as cat eye, holographic, and other fun options. The good thing about this place is also that they don't use any drills. Everything is done manually, which feels better and safer for my nails. Parking may be tough, especially during game season, but there are metered spots both right in front of the store and in some of the back streets. This was my partner and I's first time and although my nails came out pretty good, the service and environment around didn't match. The couches are old school chairs and they put your feet on a tiny and thin plastic barstool that is not very stable. It's very outdated and the lady I had was very rude and I don't even think she realized she was being rude and inconsiderate. When she was doing my pedicure I was resting my head on one of the pillows I put under my head and closed my eyes to try and relax and she just removed the pillow without asking or telling me that she needs to use the pillow. It was so rude not mindful. My partner saw and was like did she really just do that!? I got a mani pedi with gel and once she finished with my right hand, instead of her moving to the other side to do my nails on my left hand she had me put my hand across my body which she kept pulling and it was very uncomfortable. My partner said the lady who did his nails also had him put his arm across his body instead of the lady moving so we can sit comfortably. My partner and I would not recommend nor would we go back there. To us it's all the pieces that add to your experience and relaxation, not just the end result. read more

First time trying out the salon and I'm quite impressed (writing this review 2 weeks later) at how well the gel is holding up after a week of vacay hiking/water activities. Service was quiet, no small talk as the lady who assisted me had one AirPod in, but I think she was the manager taking all the salon phone calls hands free but it didn't interrupt anything so I was ok with it. The decor is somewhere between old Victorian and grandmothers well loved living room; I think they were going for old Parisian vibes. The individual couches (4-6 inside) were comfy enough with bag hooks above it. They didn't not offer water and not sure if there is a bathroom. For $45 (+15 with simple design like mine) gel manicure with hand massage it was pretty solid, same price for cash / card. So far the longevity is a great standout to me! read more

Very pleasantly surprised to find this mani pedi salon tucked away in SoMa! Not to mention, I found them on Classpass of all places!! After being locked away in quarantine due to covid for the last year, My classpass automatically renewed without me knowing...(mostly because I wasn't paying attention), but what better way way to use up 57 unused classpass credits then to get some serious pampering done. One of the deals I got was for a basic mani/pedi for 10 credits at the polished nest! I came in and was asked to sanitize my hands and sign a covid waiver. I was guided back to the seating area and I chose a color before they had me seated in a socially distanced arm chair. The salon is super cute and at the time of my visit, it was by appointment only. The antique/ vintage feel was different from the other salons and kind of felt like I might be at a tea party without..you know..tea... Anyhow, mani/pedi were great, albeit it took some time because only one kind lady did my toes then my nails. Total time in the studio was a solid 75 minutes, so make sure you have some time to just sit back and relax OR tell them you are in a hurry! I kept reminding myself to just enjoy my "me" time and I had a nice chunk of time to just breathe. They had masks on and plexiglass panels up during the entire appointment and the chairs were pretty far from one another, not sure how this will change now that SF is open again. They had a nice selection of different essie and OPI colors. I opted for a sort of neon traffic cone color called "No doubt about it" from OPI. Service- owner is the only one who speaks English she was constantly on the phone and distracted while doing nails, cut me in 2 places, really rough on removal and cuticles. Super rude she was like yelling at me to pick a color and then when I asked for matte or jelly she was like those chip- and I'm like why do you showcase it then?! Then she forced me to pick a color in a rush from the wheel Overall finished mani pedi was fine -but do not expect friendly service, or relaxing atmosphere. Environment is also not very clean. They do not clean the floors/ stations/material between clients. And they put the removal dust all over your clothing and literally shake the towel of debris into your own lap. My favorite nail salon in the city! There are two main things I love about Polished Nest: (1) it doesn't look or feel like a typical salon and (2) response time is insanely fast. I really commend the lady who runs this whole operation. Reservations can be made over text, and she's always on the phone taking calls, even when doing nails. So efficient! Nina Y. and I made plans to get manipedis one Friday afternoon, so I texted the number advertised on their website that morning. Within minutes, I received a confirmation from an actual person, not a robot. Impressive. I love the customer service here. We walked into a cute waiting area that had things like flip flops and nail polish for sale. Interesting. We were ushered into the main room and walked over to the vintage wooden cabinet with nail polish colors. I decided on lilac for my hands and white for my feet. My technician wasn't super chatty, but then again, neither am I. It was a good time for Nina and I to catch up. We realized that we usually get together for food and drinks, so this was a nice change of pace. It's fun to get pampered and feel like you're in someone's home from the 60s. Seems like they offer waxing, and I'm looking for a closer place, so perhaps I'll give that a try in the future. Altogether my manipedi was between $50 and $60. Sounds about right? First time visit yesterday to remove a 3 week old gel Mani....and very happy I found this salon. Jessica (owner?) was easy to schedule with and got me an immediate appointment... just text them! It was $8 to remove the gel Mani and $20 to get a regular Mani. Lily, my nail tech, worked fast. Gel Manis are not easy to get off my nails and she did it with relative ease and didn't damage my nails. The best part was I chose a white polish and Lily nailed it. White on a regular Mani can be very hard to do well, but she was a perfectionist. Covered my entire nail including the tips to prevent chipping, even coverage, made sure no paint was on skin and honestly 1 of the best paint jobs I've ever had! This place did an absolute TERRIBLE job with my nails. This is possibly the worst nail service I've ever received. - The surface of my gel polish is so uneven and thick/gloopy that it's visibly noticable even from afar. - The edges of my nail beds are so sloppy and the polish is all over my cuticles. - There are air bubbles everywhere and holes/gaps from unfinished polishing - The shaping & filing of my nails are haphazardly done and completely uneven. I had to ask my technician to file/shape one of my fingernails three times and still couldn't get it to match. - Not once was I asked if at any point in the process if what she had done was ok or to my liking. Maybe this was an off day or maybe my technician wasn't the best, but either way this was completely unacceptable. I would highly advise AGAINST visiting here. read more

They also had a little candy bar setup which was a nice touch.
