There is one picnic table to sit on for a picnic, but try and ignore the graffiti. There is an area that's preserved and protected for Burrowing owls. I wish I could have seen one or two, but no luck this time. There is traffic noise and watch for what looks like a homeless individual who had ridden a bike in.

The property is pristine, the bathrooms look straight out of a magazine, and the new laundry room is beautiful. But what truly sets it apart is the people. especially by General Manager Meleta , who makes you feel like family from the moment you arrive. For us, this place is an escape. When I picked up my boat, I noticed the battery switch had been left on. When I asked about it, I was told they don't turn the battery switch off after flushing because they don't operate the boat during the flushing process. That explanation concerned me because the Mercury owner's manual states that the engine must be running in order to properly flush the cooling system. Based on what I was told by the marina, I don't believe my engine was being flushed according to the manufacturer's procedure. As a result, my battery was completely discharged because the battery switch had been left on. In addition to that, I experienced repeated problems with the fuel dock being unavailable and the entrance gate not working properly. In the end, I lost confidence in leaving my boat there. I paid to terminate my contract early so I could bring my boat home and take care of it myself. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this marina.

Great place to spend and afternoon at the beach! There is a great playground right next to the…read morebeach and some great spots on each side to go fishing. There are 3-4 large pavilions on the beach, along with grills. There are a couple of volleyball courts as well. Showers and restrooms are located near the entrance/exit of the parking lot. A word of caution - there are some sharks in the waters, so you don't want to venture out past the no swimming signs that are clearly posted in the water. Two downsides to this location - there are no waves (I know that's no ones fault!) and the sand/beach area isn't maintained by a staff, so there is grass growing very close to the beach. One could argue that you get that "natural" beach feeling, so to each their own.

I rented the 2 bedroom and it had 2 ac units to keep the place cooled down. I only had 2 gripes during this stay: 1. The shower head in the restroom. I'm not saying that it needs to be a rainfall shower head but a regular shower head set up in the ceiling isn't working. They need to just move it where a regular shower head goes, on the wall. 2. The bug bites. I mean, I get it, it's right on the water but no amount of bug spray worked. No home remedies worked. You just had to take it. I walked out of there looking like I have chicken pox but I had a great time! Other than that, everything was amazing! Tami and Lynn were great and any questions we had they were both ready to help. I will definitely come back but it won't be in the summer, I have learned my lesson lol.

We caught our limit of Sheepshead (good eats), he's put me on a wicked Snook bite twice, and we caught 10 keeper trout on my last trip with a Black Drum and a Flounder too boot. That leads me to my three things: 1) Joel takes care of the rod/tackle, live bait, ice and will clean any catch for you. 2) BYOB for drinks and snacks 3) He does not watch the clock. If the fish are hitting you are fishing. Look him up next time you are in the bay area and especially around the full/null moons. Bigger tide changes = more fish.

As I sat by the launch afterwards, I heard everybody coming back disappointed in the one or two mackerel they managed to catch. "It was too cold" or "They just weren't out there today" was common to hear. I just nodded and felt sorry for them while I massaged my sore arm and contemplated having to drink left-handed for the rest of the week. For the day, Will put us on an incredible early trout bite before we moved on. We hooked so many that we lost count quickly. Once the tide rolled in, we moved towards an inlet and passed an insane ball of action along the way. He said not to worry because we were going to the same place those redfish were heading. Sure enough, shortly after we got to the mangroves, a ton of big reds came in behind us and then the fun began. Every red drum we caught was slot and the challenge of pitching shrimp in the tangled mess of mangroves to get them out was awesome! Capt. Will made great use of my time and the only regret I had was leaving my prescription sunglasses back in Chicago. Next time!
