They definitely know what they're doing and they all have different areas of expertise. A lot of them have a background in some sort of PT or exercise. Equipment: Up to date equipment! I have yet to see any broken equipment. They mostly use Rogue equipment, which I personally prefer. Environment: Very clean. I've been here in the late evening and they have someone clean the gym everyday, which I appreciate with how much people sweat here. They also have a 2nd location on Carnegie Ave closer to Fort Bliss. It's smaller but it's still clean, fully equipped and really nice. People: Everyone is super nice and I the best aspect of Crossfit is that every one cheers each other on despite your skill level. People here come from different fitness backgrounds but they all want to improve and be the best they can be. Classes: I like that they have early morning classes and late classes. I like the regular Crossfit classes but they also offer FemmeFit (Crossfit for women), Crossfit Kids, and Fit Club (Weightloss program). They also have Open gym's on Thursdays so you aren't constrained to just doing a preset WOD all the time. Price: It's a very good membership price especially for Crossfit and the area. And trust me, I shopped around. People can complain all they want about the prices here, they offer a tremendously great deal for the quality you get. Remember, you get what you pay for. Yes, you can take "crossfit classes" at EP Fitness, but it's far from the same quality, plus they aren't Crossfit Affiliated. Give it a try, I don't think it hurts to try, and I think it's been one great experience.

I really didn't want to go. Crossfit? Are you kidding me?? I can't do that stuff! When we got there, everyone introduced themselves to us and they were so friendly. It felt weird but nice at the same time. We signed up after that first night. The classes are only an hour long and yes, they're tough. But I love the challenge. Even if you can't do a pull-up, push up or can't even lift the barbell, the coaches help modify the work outs for you until you get to that level. This gym is a crossfit protocol gym. They focus a lot on the weights. They go through different cycles, which always keeps your body guessing. If we do end up doing a workout more than once, it's because they want to challenge us and see if we can beat our last time or reps. You check into the classes through their own app or online. There's different levels of memberships, depending how long you want to sign up for. And they even have specials every now and then. Any crossfit gym is pricy, but it's worth it. The owner designs all of the classes for us and puts in a lot of time and effort to make his gym what it is. All the coaches do. This gym is like a family now. Everyone is so nice, we have get togethers and gym shirt and hoodies for sale. Definitely give RKU a try.

I relocated to El Paso so the hunt for Crossfit gyms began. Crossfit RKU has 2 locations. A North and East Location. I started out with the North location before I knew about the one in the East. The programming is solid. This is not a Crossfit gym that follows fads as far as training. I have no complaints about the training program at all! The main complaint, (which is a pretty big one if You know anything about Crossfit) is the community itself. Crossfit is unlike a regular global gym where You put Your headphones on and block out the outside world and workout. Here, community is everything. There is much encouragement and even the last person is cheered on as they are finishing their WOD or Workout of the Day. Here, not so much. This Crossfit gym is VERY clicky. Upon joining, all of the guys were friendly, but the women scowled as if You showed up to steal their boyfriend. (There are many couples here) and that really did not change. The only friendly females is the owners wife and the lady that collects the money. Other than that, they just stare. Especially during "partner wods" they pair up with each other and treat new people as if they have rabies or something. I actually decided to get over it because I was there to work out, but I did not look forward to going there. One day I overheard someone talking about the North location, which happened to be closer to my job, so I decided to try there. This location was MUCH better in terms of people being friendly. THe programming is good and the people were much nicer. Even after meeting a few of the girls there, they all talked about how people are at the East location which is why some of them drive further just to go here. I eventually decided that I no longer wanted to be a part of Crossfit RKU. At most Crossfit locations, what makes it different is that they don't bind You to a contract because it's about "community" more than the contract. You normally have to give 2-3 months notice and that's it. Not here. You have to either move or have a Doctors note. So I pay $130 per month and I don't go to the place. Because there are so many other Crossfit locations that get the"community" aspect and would not lock You into a contract if You don't want to be there, I would NOT recommend this box. There are too many other locations to experience the community of Crossfit. Crossfit RKU is not it. The only reason the place gets 2 stars is because their Programming is solid.

During the first class the coach called me by name and was very helpful, both to me and the rest of the class. The whole class was very friendly! Granted, I have taken the Crossfit Kool-aid and can't do without regular exercise anymore - I have found a home with Crossfit and feel like they have found the perfect balance of training for strength, endurance, mobility and flexibility! As a 56 year old man who once went nearly 16 years without any deliberate exercise, getting involved with Crossfit has been a life-changing experience. I've lost over 40 lbs, recovered the stamina I had 20 years ago and, in some ways, become stronger than I've ever been! Also slightly embarrassing is the fact that since it opened up in the plaza with Koze Teppan Grill and Café Italia, I've been getting a regular guilt trip from their sign every time I go to stuff my face with sushi or pizza. Nevertheless, I'm glad I finally got around to giving it a try. This gym is different from most I have seen in the past-- it's a female-only gym that is entirely class-based, with no equipment that you just go in and work out with whenever you feel like. Also, they center many of their classes around something called the MyZone. MyZone is basically a band that goes around your ribcage right near your bra strap. It tracks your heart rate, calories burned, "Effort Points," etc. Effort Points are basically a function of how high you get your heart rate and for how long. It's a whole thing, and there's an app, and I will admit, it's a bit confusing at first, but I will also say that, as of this morning, I've completed three classes with it and already have the hang of it. If you have any questions or hesitation, I would recommend you chat with the trainers on staff there-- they're super helpful in explaining what it's all about. I'll admit I was a little hesitant about joining this gym because the format is so different from anything I had tried before.... but honestly, after the three classes I've taken, I'm sold! I love the fact that your membership fee covers all the classes, with no extra fees. This means that you get a ton of one-on-one or almost-one-on-one time with the trainers for your base fee. At many other gyms I have seen, working with a trainer costs extra, and often costs a LOT more than it does here. The gym, from what I've seen, prides itself on an environment that is supportive, encouraging, challenging, and upbeat. All good things for a fitness studio, whether you are a newbie or a pro at working out! Other pros: - It's clean. Like I-don't-know-how-they-keep-it-this-clean CLEAN. - They run really nice specials on the cost of joining! To give you an idea, the MyZone tracker thingy usually runs about $100 (I'm 90% sure), but I got it for $50. Also, since I signed up after only two classes, instead of taking the full seven day trial that I could have, I only had to pay for the MyZone tracker, and not for the actual membership-- so I got October for only $50! Additionally, they locked me in at a discounted rate of $89 a month because I signed up during a promotion. So price-wise, it's a pretty nice deal. - I believe they even offer childcare by appointment if you have kids. So no more excuses that you can't join a gym because it isn't kid-friendly! - They have a ton of different classes: Zumba, Spinning, Boxing, HIIT, Barre, Yoga, Boot Camps and more! - They switch up their schedule so you don't get bored or have to take the same class over and over, because it's the only time slot that fits into your schedule. Also, they rework the class schedule every month to give even more variety. I'm looking forward to trying all the different classes that they have! Little Known Fact: Envie is an Australian Fitness gym! In speaking to some of the staff, I learned that it's actually quite popular over there, and is just getting started here in the States. So far there are only three U.S. locations, though they do have plans for more. How cool is it that they chose to open one of their three first studios right here in El Paso?! :D

The facility is setup with separate entries for spectator viewing and there are dedicated spectator bathrooms and locker room for those who are swimming. What really stood out to me is how they have an upper deck for spectators and there are plenty of rows for friends and family to watch. If you are interested in getting a swim workout in there are two ways to go about it. You can make a reservation ahead of time for a one hour session or you can roll the dice and simply walk-in. I have yet to make a reservation because the lanes are so large that it's pretty easy to grab a lane. Each lane is able to hold up to four swimmers. I've lucked out and have only had to share at most a lane with one other swimmer. Now when it comes to pricing you can pay for a swim session at a time, at the price of .... wait for it ... it's quite unbelievable ... for three dollars! You can also get unlimited swim for thirty days for only $30.

Straight down Sgt Maj, directly across from USASMA (the academy). If you're coming from east bliss and you hit the Biggs shoppette at the Luke intersection... You went about a block to far. Coming from main post or otherwise, Sgt Maj road opened up to 3 lanes... You went a tad to far. Check ft bliss mwr FB page for upcoming events held here at the park. Well supposly if you go in the swimmer area and then go into the kids area it's bad cause of the wate which obviously is weird so my mom decided to go talk to the manager and no she is not a karen or whatever for talking to the manager she had an reason to talk to him and she came back and said that he said it got to crowded in the kids area and the swimmer area which was totally different from what the lifeguards said which is crazy that they just lied to our faces and honestly the swimmer area and kid area was NOT crowded at all only one lane in the swimmer area was being used by a younger kid like younger than my sister and we even saw her go on the pool with the slide and she didn't get in trouble but we did? made no sense and it was just very weird and the manager was very petty to my mom which is not correct to do and the lifeguards lied straight to our face and even if it was true and that something with the pool water, fix it! it's not our problem you can't fix your own pool that has been up for a while and no wonder because the water looks bubbly which is not because of the water splasing onto each other it's gross water and the stairs up to the slide are disgustin as well, like hire a cleaner if you can because i do not wanna be stepping on that. Over all this pool sucks no offense, it's gross and all the above and the manager, Eric or Erick, please be better manger and stop being so petty you are aleast 40 or older to be acting like this like if your pool is causing this annoyance to you, you should even own a pool or work at it. It's also an excellent way to skip the traffic when traveling from New Mexico to El Paso (and probably visa versa but can't confidently confirm that part). I was leaving New Mexico after having a wonderful dinner and saw that there was a ton of traffic getting back to El Paso on my GPS. It suggested an alternate route; Trans Mountain Road. Normally, I'd probably just sit in traffic when I'm in an unfamiliar place. I'm from the Bay Area (California), and I am no stranger to horrible traffic. But who the hell wants to sit in traffic while they're on vacation?! I already deal with that 5 days out of the week, so spare me. It was still daylight so I decided to do it. I've driven on many windy roads, but I'll admit that this one was kind of nerve racking. Mostly because some of you Texans just don't know how to drive (sorry, not sorry). But once I got to the top of the hill and those views started to appear, it became enjoyable. I saw a vista point with a few cars parked in the distance and immediately pulled off to park there. Yep, this was it. I hit the jackpot. The pictures of the vista point doesn't do it justice. The views are outstanding! Panoramic beauty and lots of it. There's even a cute little lookout point and some picnic tables up there. It was windy as hell though, so not sure if I'd sit out there and eat something for fear of being blown over. Maybe in the summer when the weather is warmer and the winds are milder, but still. Fantastic city views of El Paso and some nice views of the New Mexican desert hills. This is definitely a hidden chill spot. I can only imagine how gorgeous the sunrises and sunsets are, but I'm sure it's even gnarlier to drive this road when it's dark. In any event, it's a lovely vista with an adventurous drive and a nice escape from traffic.

Its a large well set large heavy duty tent with an outstanding AC and lots of Cross Fitness equipment along with a few treadmills. Yes, many staff here don't like it when we state that essentially it is a cross fitness facility but it is. Iron Works East is open from Monday to Friday from 0600-1800 hrs with guided 45 minutes unit training available at 0630. If you are planning to bring your squad/platoon/company here for pt please call ahead and make a reservation; this is very important so they can have the appropriate number of staff available to guide and train appropriately. I have always had a very positive experience; the staff is knowledgeable, helpful and patient. All troops must have their CAC card to enter. I do wish they had "cubies" where one can leave cell phone and water bottle etc.

Its a great workout that only lasts 45 minutes and helps keep your cardio up when you're tired of running everyday which the army loves for some reason. With that being said, the gym is just alright. The equipment they have is geared towards cross fit/Olympic lifts which is great and is really all you need for a good workout. What this place needs, however, is a snack bar that you can buy shakes or food from after your workout. As it stands, it's purely a gym and that's it. The speakers they have are dated and it's obvious they are on their last leg; they need to be updated. Also, the bathrooms - especially the showers - need to be cleaned more regularly. The place appears to be old and run down when the facility honestly isn't that old. It's the failure to maintain the facility which gives off the appearance of it being old. The main guy at the front desk in the mornings - Jon - is extremely helpful and friendly and will gladly explain any exercise you have questions about. He's also the guy you talk to if you're interested in "competing" for the 1,000lb club. All in all, I enjoy coming here as I get a great afternoon workout during my lunch break. Hit the MEF!!

The young lady who answered the phone was extremely helpful. She informed me of the unlimited classes that were offered for a set price of $7 a day! You can also purchase a monthly membership that includes unlimited classes per day from kick boxing to yoga, zumba, boot camp, body sculpting, cardio dance, drumstick fitness and total body work outs - they have it all!! Danielle was amazing at helping me find my zen! I took a couple of intermediate yoga classes that allowed me to be in the moment and forget my fast paced life in Dallas. They were much needed classes as I started each day feeling peace and tranquility. I also took a full body strength class with Liz that made me work up a sweat! She was great at gently pushing me to reach new limits and helped me work on my form. She introduced me to new workout techniques for my core and integrated light weights for strength training. I remember when this MFT Iron Works Gym location was a gas station and the gate next to it was open. The staff is passionate and will ensure everyone in their facility stays safe. You can schedule to bring your unit for instructor lead pt. Exercise instructions take about 15 minutes and actual exercise time takes about 45 minutes. This is a great place to learn different circuit like exercises for the ACFT. I remember when this location was a gas station and the gate next to it was open. Wow, that was a while ago. Now days, this location holds MEF (Mission Essential Fitness) Ironworks Gym. Ironworks Gym staff is fit and passionate. PT sessions need to be scheduled ahead of time. They can hold up to 2 units (I am guessing depending on the size) Circuit Exercise Briefing for 15 different exercises takes about 15 minutes so the organized pt sessions last approximately 45 minutes and you do the circuit 3 times. I am sure their organized pt sessions are not always the same but as of Jan 2020 thats the day way it has be ran. Soldiers get a good workout specially a good workout prep for the ACFT. They got plenty of staff around to ensure soldiers conduct the circuit training in a safe environment.

The staff was really friendly and accommodating. The best thing was how willing they were to help when we left a phone inside the gym and they closed right after we left. I called and spoke to the owner, I think, and he changed a meeting he had to help us out. Now we don't have to drive without a phone! I highly recommend this box!

The space is brand new, super clean, and seriously aesthetic -- think turf, rowers, skiers, and a layout built for strength and conditioning. It's got that gritty, hard-work vibe without the gritty gym feel -- bright, modern, and surprisingly pretty. I dropped in for a class (they offer a free trial and $25 drop-ins), and it was such a great experience from start to finish. The owner, John John, was awesome -- super welcoming, hands-on, and made sure everyone was moving with good form. The community vibe here is strong; everyone was friendly but focused. Bonus points for the cute swag, spotless bathroom, and that little juicery next door that completes the whole "West Side wellness" vibe. Definitely a five-star experience -- I'll be back!

The greatest part about this gym is that it is open on the weekends and holidays! So if your looking for a workout during any holiday then this gym is for you! Must have a military ID or if you're not in the military have a visitors pass to get on post, also 100% ID upon entering the gym. With that being said for my military folks you can wear civilian clothes during pt hours at the gym.
