Adorable bakery! This place is so warm & inviting the minute you walk through the door. The decor is really cute and there are a few cozy seating areas. The girls behind the counter couldn't be nicer or friendlier! My husband and I got the following: cinnamon rolls, oreos, a chocolate chip & s'mores whoopie pie and a latte to share. Stopped by the Topsfield Bakeshop while visiting MA and grabbed 3 classic whoopie pies! The interior of the shop is very nice and inviting with a corner display of treats. I ordered up a Smores, cinnamon swirl and grahamie whoopie pies which were so good! Light fluffy cake rounds with a soft, sweet whipped filling in between. I rationed them out over the next 36 hours but they were fantastic! Definitely would be back for another visit if I lived in the area! read more

We've ordered at least two cakes through these folks. In the city we used to go to Sweet Tooth in Southie, which is a tough act to follow, but this place had been up to the task. I think they are the only shop within a 20 mile radius that can do gluten-free, or at least do it really well. Several days ago my wife ordered a 12inch, gluten-free vanilla on chocolate cake with cannoli frosting on the inside, she ordered it on Saturday for a Sunday event and the TB delivered in spades. The cake was amazing looking and the turnaround was admirable considering this was essentially a custom cake job, though maybe most of them are to some degree. Was surprised with the review mentioning the slow turn-around time, guessing that was written by Esposito's as the guy only has one review (and also because the other reviews of Esposito's really dump on it). My fiancé and I went here Sunday for a cake tasting, it was such an amazing experience. We walked in to this beautiful dessert shop with smiling faces. We were greeted right away and I said we had an appointment they brought out many different slices of heaven. It was difficult to decide because each was as delicious as the next. This place is amazing. After a quick bite at Topsfield House of Pizza, I glanced down the street and saw and ice cream cone shaped sign. I have a hard time turning down a chance for ice cream, so my wife and I popped into this bakeshop for a quick scoop. We ended up getting an assortment of cookies, espresso shots, and a carrot cake whoopie pie, in addition to ice cream. Everything was ridiculously delicious and the staff could not have been nicer. I don't get up this way often, but I will certainly go out of my way to visit Topsfield Bakeshop again. read more

Consistent poor customer service and rude employees :( An employee messed up my order for a party I was hosting last month and would not own up to the mistake. When I told him he could check the order form I filled out, he claimed he couldn't find it. At the very least he could have discounted the whoopie pies but he did not offer. I have been to the bakeshop a few times over the past few months and the staff consistently seem to be rather rude and unfriendly, especially this one young man working the register. This was honestly the final straw and I will not be going back there... Absolutely one of the best bake shops on the North Shore! You can truly feel the love and joy as soon as you walk in. My fiancé and I came in for Dessert Night and man am I glad I wore stretchy pants!! We tried the affogado, chocolate cake/chocolate mousse mason jar and the warm apple crisp. We initially went with Topsfield Bakeshop because we were getting married at Willowdale Estate. The proximity of the bakeshop to the venue, made it an easy choice. The cake tasting was delicious. Over 10 slices of the cakes they have, bring your sweet tooth. We went with their strawberry cake and they created it beautifully. We wanted just piping on the side and our florist was going to have fresh flowers to decorate. Needless to say, the cake was gone. I was driving through town and wanted to stop in and purchase some bread for my family. I came into the shop and there were people sitting and drinking coffee and eating baked goods, however there was no one to wait on me. I stood there for a good ten minutes, said hello a few times and no one came... Finally, a guy with a very big attitude showed up. I wish there was a total hidden video so that the owner could have seen and watched the way he spoke to me. There was another gentleman waiting with me over the ten minute time frame. I asked the price of this small loaf of ginger bread, he told me it was $12. I asked if it was made out of wheat because my husband has issues with gluten. He called someone on the phone and then asked the price of the bread, it wasn't $12 it was $6. I had asked him to call and double check on the wheat. I asked why he quoted me such a high price on the bread and he was rude and said I had to give you a much higher price just in case! I bought a brownie for $2, I was being generous because after his tone and crummy attitude I really should have just walked out.
