Pure Pastry has something for everyone and everything we've never been disappointed with them. We were fans for years and loved their cookie sandwiches and Persian love cake so much that we asked them to make our wedding cake. Kim not only produced a delicious chocolate cake with seasonal berries for our big day, she also made smaller supplemental cake triangles in multiple flavors, which was a great idea that allowed the main cake to be smaller. We're still working through our leftovers and they're just as good frozen! Everyone who works there is great. Kim in particular is warm, funny, and super-adaptable. She even managed to come up with delicious alternative treats for our guests with severe allergies. So no matter what your dietary restrictions, if you like sweets, definitely check out Pure Pastry. Cannot recommend them enough. I will say that if you see them at an outdoor market there's a good chance the line will be really long, so you might be better off ordering through their website. I know people love the food and it's fresh, raw ingredients. Those are exciting options for people who have this dietary preference! But it's not a great place if you have allergies because nothing is labeled and there are no ingredient lists on the website, either. My friend brought a dish to share and because of my night allergy, I didn't know if I could eat it. The friend called to check ingredients as there was no other way to find out (not even a label on the package) and got a response later saying that the cake had cashews. Really glad I didn't have any! No one could taste that it was made with nuts, so that was interesting. Everyone else loved the cake. So, if you have no allergies, go for it. Otherwise, unless you can talk to the owner and aren't worried about cross contamination, this business is not for people with food allergies. read more

I had heard great things about Kim's pastries and looking at the winding line at the Roslindale Farmer's Market, I was convinced I'd be in for a treat. But sadly, I was disappointed, not once but twice. The first time around, we tried a coconut scone. It was....ok. Dry, not sweet, honestly a little bland. Wouldn't order it again. So the next time, we went for something called the Persian love cake. It sounded and looked amazing. But again, the taste did not level up. There was some spice in it which was just too much, and left a bitter after taste. When I first bought it, I wondered if one tiny cake would be enough (although it cost $9...err). Everyone in the party tried a bite, didn't want any seconds, and we had to compost half of it. So second attempt wasn't a win either. Three stars because I'm still open to trying them out one more time. Looking at the other rave reviews, I'd say there's something great I haven't tried yet. read more

The best I've ever had! My brother and sister-in-law had a carrot cake for their wedding from Kim Gregory and it was the best carrot cake I've ever had! No one could believe it was gluten free and sugar free. I wish I had a picture of how beautiful the cake was but it was consumed faster than a picture could be taken. I have had the pleasure of trying several pastries from the Roslindale farmers market since moving nearby. Be prepared for the line to be around the corner! I have loved all the flavors of baked "dough nots" especially the apple cider one. The bittersweet brownie is to die for and I'm not even GF! I also recently fell in love with the custard cake (seasonal fruits rotate). I haven't loved the couple of pastries that are completely allergen free (no dairy, vegan, gluten free), but most of what I've tried (and it has been A LOT) is delicious. One of Beverly's best kept secrets. If you are looking for delicious pastry and treats you have found it. Kim has vegan, gluten free, dairy free... And regular baked goods but so much care and thought has gone into them. My wife and I have gone a few times now and always end up in a conversation with Kim. She raises her own chickens and doesn't use refined sugar. She makes her own Maple sugar... You are talking serious dedication but it definitely shows in her work. The peppermint patties, the truffles, the cookies, biscotti, muffins... All so good!! The menu does change so I recommend going for a look! I discovered Kim's at the Roslindale Farmers' Market. I wasn't expecting to find high-end baked goods amongst all the vegetables and things. My first many experiences were with Kim's staff. They were the nicest, most accommodating people you could find - highly knowledgeable about the products and enthused about selling them. I've since met Kim and this woman embodies everything a proud owner creating high-quality products would. She's kind, she's interested in you, she's patient no matter how long the line gets and she knows her stuff. As a baker myself, I am blown away by the innovation she brings to everyday baked goods. She created flavor combinations that I had never thought of. And all of her stuff is so fresh and tasty. Add to that that it's local and organic - I mean ... Have never met such a rude and unprofessional shop owner. Needed 4 dozen vegan cupcakes for our daughter's bridal shower. Recommended by an organic restaurant we contacted her for a tasting allowing her to set the time for pickup. Were told she had a retail shop but were directed to a residential area with no signage, not even a mailbox. Having traveled almost 40 miles we were left to sit on the street and in the driveway for 20 minutes in 90 degree weather. Called 4 times before they answered the phone and was greeted with an attitude. Never had the tasting we left. Wouldn't let this women bake our dog a dog bone. Is it even legal to bake commercially in a residential garage? Avoid this woman like the plague! read more

My wife liked her Facebook page a while ago, and had always wanted to try her stuff. We found her at a farmer's market yesterday in Beverly. We went up to the stand and a women who is Kim's friend helped us. She was so sweet and very helpful, explaining all the pastries and what's in them. She was so enthusiastic that it made us want to buy everything. After getting a few things Kim herself came over smiling and talking to us. You can't help but like this women. She heard us talking about how we went looking for her and gave us a free pastry. We tried all her stuff and let me tell you outstanding, all her stuff is great.
