Being from Austin, Torchy's is probably the only place I'd eat tacos in Denver. The queso is legit. A lot better than I thought it would be and not spicy if you stay away from the sauce. The BBQ chicken was really good. Could have used some more sauce on that. The only not great thing was the cilantro-lime rice in my bowl. It did not have good flavor and was way over cooked and mushy. Didn't ruin the whole bowl but was bad enough to lose a star. Place looked clean and service was pretty quick. read more

Friendly service backed up with both creative and excellent presentations. I believe the value you receive for the portion size provided is fair and not overpriced. I was warmly greeted when I arrived for lunch sometime around 12:45pm. My 2 tacos were excellent (the orange w/salmon and the Jamaican jerk taco) and filled me up just fine. The 2 other guests with me enjoyed their tacos and our entire table left completely happy. If there had been any problems with immature staff in the past they seem to have been resolved. Where do you go on Taco Tuesday when it's 9:30pm and many places have closed? Torchy's is a good option. I have driven by multiple Torchy's locations over the years, but have never stopped. As I was heading to In and Out burger tonight, call it devine intervention, but my steering wheel jerked to the right and into the lot! It is Tuesday, right? Well, being a Torchy's newbie it took me a minute to peruse the menu and it looked a little pricier than I like so I was waffling between 2 or 3 tacos but Triple Torchy Taco Tuesday had a good ring to it. Well, after careful consideration I ordered the Brushfire, the Fo Sho, and the Democrat. I started with the Brushfire. Love this taco with Jamaican Jerk combined with jalapeños and Diablo sauce. Before starting this taco I tested a half spoon the Diablo sauce for Torchyness. It is in between mild and somewhat hot. So I dolloped a few spoonfuls into my taco. This was a darn good taco! I didn't remember that this taco had jalapeños until the last couple bites when I got a mouthful causing a 2 alarm blaze in my chest. But it wasn't run to the machine for another Diet Coke hot. The second taco I had was the Fo Sho and it was a good taco too. It does have some onions so get your smooches before eating. Again, a few spoons of Diablo for a little heat! The last taco was the Democrat. Now this taco was also amazing! A squirt of lime really works with this taco. The podium you ask? It was basically a photo finish! Coming in third, the Fo Sho. In second place, the Democrat, and in first place, the Brushfire. Again all of these were good and if eaten in a different order the podium could change. I see reviews talking about the price and it did seem a little high but not unreasonable. Look at the picture I took and marvel at the size of these tacos. From the flavors to the quality ingredients I felt like it was worth it. 3 tacos and a Diet Coke came to $21 something and my $3 in the tip carafe made it $24. Most places in the medium price point will cost $20 with no tip. So I'll pay to enjoy my meal and skip the lotto ticket. read more

Decided to try this Torchy's location once again last night at 8:30pm for a late dinner with the hopes it would rectify my previous review. Unfortunately, this was not the case and it honestly another disappointing experience here. It seems like the main issue comes down to a lack of leadership and attention to customer service. The staff seemed more focused on closing the store than actually taking care of the customers. The young guy working the register and bartender were hanging out, chatting with each other and joking around while over 7 other tables sat with nothing in front of them looking around confused why food was taking so long to come out. Not a single staff member made a comment to anyone recognizing there was a very long delay. It took over 30 minutes to get our food and orders coming out were incorrect. We ordered salsa, but was given queso instead. Another guest had one of his tacos forgotten entirely, and when he brought it up to the young man who took the order, the response gave the sense that he didn't care to be dealing with any situation that interrupted his time relaxing in a booth with another employee while ignoring the fact that so many people were just sitting waiting. He even let out an audible exasperated grumble throwing his arms around clearly frustrated about having to get up and address the issue with the kitchen. This was reflected once again when another guest told him that they were also missing part of their to go order. To make matters worse, the manager on duty didn't seem to care at all--just slowly walked around the edges of the store, put things away, but didn't make any effort to check in on customers or communicate with her staff. The overall vibe was one of "I don't care to be here I just have to be", with employees showing disinterest in doing their jobs well, dancing around, sitting around and not having a good example set by the manager on duty. The only person that was working hard and looking stressed was the young man expediting food to people when it did come out of the kitchen. Ultimately, the service was terrible, and it really reflects a lack of leadership and a poor attitude from the staff. We love the food here, but to spend $48 for 7 tacos and salsa, waiting over half an hour doesn't make that high price point worth it for a place that's supposed to be fast casual. We've been to other locations where this is not the case, so it might just be an unlucky night, but why is the timing so off? Tacos and queso were delicious as always but the chips were unfortunately stale! :( If you don't want to risk sitting around for far too long for delicious tacos that may come out at room temp, I'd recommend looking elsewhere if you're seeking a good dining experience. I am so thrilled there's another Torchy's now closer to me! The people is super cool, the girl running the register is always chill and very willing to customize tacos for us however we want, and she always nails it! I absolutely adore the blackened salmon salad. It is freshly cooked, still hot with steam salmon on a bed of fresh, chilled veggies with pistachios strewn around the big salad bowl. You heard that right, pistachios! A very generous serving too. I don't see this very often! Torchy's tacos are huge. So pace yourself! My go to are the breakfast ones as there's a fluffy omelet in each one. It's like biting into cloud. Such good sensory experience. Great for my taco needs, bad for my wallet! Plus I am always happy to see minimal green chili offerings I hit up their soft opening over Labor Day Weekend, and it was everything I hoped for! The vibe? Just like being back in Texas. Breakfast and margarita menu but we had neither of these. Very friendly staff who answered all of my questions efficiently and with no judgement. I had one that she did not know so she went and found the answer-so helpful! Yes they have vegan options! I had the Fo Sho with the sauce on the side. The sauce is NOT vegan!! On their website it says dairy and egg free and the kitchen confirmed that I should not eat the sauce. They have an avocado sauce that is an option. * I did not order the other veggie option but was told if I get plain avocado instead of fried -and no cheese-that it would also be vegan* Very open with lots of seating. I stopped in on this cold and snowy day to have a nice warm meal. I have not been to a Torchy's in several years. This is a brand new building in a great location and nice area of town. The parking is plentiful and in close. The building is immaculate inside and out. The menu is first rate and has plenty of fabulous choices. The woman that took our order and the woman that delivered our order to the table were pleasant and neat in their appearance. The bartender was also professional, polite and fun. After placing our order, we had our food on the table in about ten minutes. The food was hot, fresh, well made and very tasty. The street corn and the churro are first rate sides. Everything about this location is five star aside from the limited non-meat choices and the price. Six, seven and eight dollar individual tacos is extreme. I eat two with ease and my make companion downed four with ease. That makes for an extremely expensive "lunch". read more

So I just went to torchy's tacos for the first time great environment. The prices are accurate. I got a thing called the Republican. I got brisket with barbecue sauce and some type of cilantro, chipotle sauce, I believe but I took off two items that were on the taco that I did not want that one was good then there was the Democrat, which was Barbacoa cilantro lime wedge it was all right and for dipping sauce I gotthe chipotle sauce on the side and some type of salsa. The person who brought me my food asked " if he could get me anything else" which I appreciated. The tacos (Green Chili Pork, sorry not kosher) I have to say were " Damn Good." So why the 4 stars? The prices are high @ 5+$ a taco. I could have gotten 3 tacos, rice and beans with chips and salsa for near the same price at a local Mexican Restaurant. The bartender, Courtney, was great! She was good at the bar but was also very attentive on the floor. We come here all the time and she's the first person to bus our table...from the opposite side of the floor from where the bar is. I'm hoping management sees this because service here is usually average, at best (they aren't a full service restaurant to be fair, but that makes her effort that much better). 4 stars because the chicken wasn't fully cooked and we had to send it back. Lakewood and Torchy's ~ at last! So excited to have a fav come to town and closer to home. Great repurposing of a former Village Inn with easy access and expansive parking. What to expect? The same experience at any Torchy's - fast, friendly service, sparkly clean, and delicious food. Vegetarian options are limited so, I opted for one of each of the veg tacos and the try three appetizer with roja salsa (I was told poblano is not currently available). Tacos speak for themselves in the pics ~ generously filled and beautifully presented. Be prepared to eat with a knife and fork!! Between these and the appetizer, this was a 5 napkin meal and probably should have used more! Happy hour options, full bar with frozen margs, four taps with a couple of local brews and four screens to enjoy while you eat. Taco menu is full of great options for the meat eater - be sure to review the Lakewood menu for up-to-date selection. Breakfast options are available, a couple of salads, and there are unique sides as well. I've had the Mexican street corn at other locations and it is a fav. Get in here Lakewood! I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately that didn't happen. I stood in line to order while the guests dog in front of me couldn't quit sniffing me. After the person at the cash register took my order I was immediately flashed a tip screen, I don't understand why because I stood in line to order and bussed my own table. I was given a buzzer so they knew where to deliver the food. I noticed the table was dirty after I sat down. I ordered 2 tacos, A chicken fajita and a "republican" with brisket. The total for 2 tacos with no drink was $12.42. My tacos arrived 17 minutes after I ordered and both were cold. Not lukewarm, or room temperature, but COLD. The brisket was very cold like it came right out of refrigeration and was extremely salty and dry. The pork was also very cold and had a strange flavor. Both tortillas were cold, not even close to warm. The noise level was off-the-charts loud and everyone was trying to talk over each other, including the staff. In the dining room it smelled like there was a grease trap or toilet backed up. After all this, I still can't figure out what the tip screen was supposed to be for. read more

Usually we go to the location in Highlands Ranch where we typically have great service. This new Lakewood location was also pretty good for service. Nice guy taking orders and answering questions. We ordered the Airstream salad with salmon and it was good according to my husband. I've gotten this item from the HR location lots of times and this time it seemed like the protein portion was a lot smaller but I'm not 100% sure. I do wish they offered more dressing options than just a vinaigrette but it's not the end of the world. I ordered two bacon/egg/cheese tacos. I love these with the chipotle ranch and some pico de gallo. I love love love eggs and am grateful there is a reliable spot to get them for dinner. My complaint at both the HR and Lakewood locations is that the bacon is completely inedible. Almost unrecognizable as bacon. It seems like they probably get a big jug of bacon from Sysco or something and then they don't do anything to improve on it. It is huge dice-shaped blobs of fat, half-inch cubes. Raw. When I get this item from HR, I usually bring it home to eat and I can sometimes render away some of the fat in a pan or the microwave. My recommendation is that they dump all their Sysco bacon into a pan and cook it down further so it can actually be chewed and swallowed. Nasty nasty and I just had to scrape it all off the tacos today. Overall a pleasant casual vibe with nice people working. read more

I am truly shocked by the 3 stars and bad reviews!! I have now been twice and I was so happy both times. First, I am going to say I have had BAD luck with food in Colorado since moving here. I knew this was a chain, didn't expect much, but dang!! It exceeded my expectations and then some! The first time I went I got the chicken fajita taco. People are complaining about the price, but that taco is $5.30 and is filled with all sort of goodness! Lots of chicken and fajita veggies, and they give you 2 types of salsa with it. I have to say, I consider myself a salsa snob at this point, and both salsas were fresh and delicious and really added to the already very flavorful taco. That one taco honestly filled me up, but if you have a bigger appetite than mine, I think two is comparable to a burrito, and $10 for lunch is a score as far as I am concerned. I'll also say it was fast. I don't know why people are saying they were slow. I will say that I learned yesterday on my second visit, that they have only been open 6 weeks... let them get their groove down, peeps!!! Tranquilo, tranquilo, mis amigos! So, I went again yesterday during Happy Hour. I thought for sure the margarita would be mediocre, but drinks are $2 off, so I thought, "Why not?" Mi gente, it was delicious!! An ex-bartender here -- I could tell this was not all mix. And sure enough, they make their own mix with fresh limes and agave, and it showed. I ordered the really hot taco (I forgot the name)... it has mangos and jerk chicken and he warned me that it would be spicy. He was not lying. But, again, the salsa was a completely different salsa and it burned my mouth in an amazing way, and I loved it. I don't like pure spice just to burn my internal organs, I need flavor, and they delivered. Also, the chicken was delicious, too. It was totally different than the first taco I ordered, with different spices but cooked perfectly: juicy, had a charred flavor... super delicious. Then you combine it with mango, and the salsa, etc., and you have yourself a perfect taco. I loved it. I then ordered a taco to go. I am going to repeat that their tacos are really filling. That one taco while I was there was enough, and the to-go taco was for my lunch the next day. Finally, after 2 tacos, a delicious fresh made margarita, a full tummy, my bill was $19. C'mon people, $19 for dinner and a cocktail? That is a bargain. I am definitely going back. And thank you, thank you, for not putting green chile on everything. Not my thing. I know it is held in high regard here in CO, but it's just not my thing. They might put them on their burritos, not sure... they are a Texas-based restaurant, apparently. Had such an awesome experience tonight. We have been going to torchys for years and found out that a new one opened up next to where we live. Tonight we sat at the bar to watch the Stanley cup finals and the bartender, Peyton (sp?), was amazing. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and had a great time. I do not imagine I will go back to a Torchy's for a long time. The food was way too expensive, the worker lied about the portions sizes of the tacos, and we had to wait for someone to take our order. When we got there, someone was waiting in line before us and he was clearly waiting for a worker to get to the front to take his order. When it was finally our turn to order, I expressed how appalled I was at the price. Not the workers fault of course. But then she said that the tacos were large after I inquired about the size. I would learn upon receiving my cold tacos that this was not true. When she took our order, she gave me a buzzer and I waited inside for 15 minutes. I figured they were freshly making our food, so I knew it might be a while. I went outside to be with my boyfriend and his new puppy and waited out there, expecting the buzzer to go off any second. Another 20 minutes pass by and still nothing. At this point, I was about to ask for a refund. I went inside to ask where my food was, and another employee joked to me "Ah, your foods been waiting here for you!" I was appalled. The buzzer didn't go off and our food was left there at the front for who knows how long. Why did no one bring our food? I opened the tacos when we got home and I was annoyed to see that these were very average sized $7.00 tacos. All of our food was cold and we completely wasted our money and time. There was no dinner rush, there was no one there except for us and two other families. I go here with my husband in laws frequently. They all like the proteins, and I'm super picky about meat, so I'll take their word for it. For me the meat is just too meaty or too salty. Everything else is delicious! I've tried several combinations of meat free things. Their guacamole is sooooo good! It's always easy to get someone's attention to get more chips and the people take your orders are always nice enough. We've had to speak to the managers a few times because of my husband's allergies or my dietary issues, They're always super helpful. Over all the only issues we've had are standard issues- like forgetting our salsa once in the 20+ times we've been. This places is definitely allergy friendly. You just tell them your allergy and they flag it. It can get a bit too noisy for me, but it's not too bad. I like that it doesn't have harsh overhead lights and the music is always at a good volume. read more
