Tacos Selene is a hidden gem near Denver Downtown!! It was located in one of the busy lanes over looking the beautiful downtown. As I walked in around 4 pm with family, we were the only ones in and then as the day progressed, more people came in for an early dinner! Clean, little rustic looking, Walls filled with fun graphics, kind staff, fun looking bathroom signs (women's) is how I will describe this restaurant. We ordered tacos - al pastor, carne asada, chicken, shredded beef, Adobada (pork without pineapple) and smothered marinated pork Burrito. Loved all the dishes and the clear winner for us was the Adobada meat (marinated pork). Every single bite was flavorful, juicy and tender. The seasoning was just right without it being overpowering. Both the Tacos and the gooey Burrito were filled with lots of meat - honestly, it was simple and satisfying without it being too greasy. Pricing was very affordable for the food portions and the food quality you get here. This is definitely an authentic spot you want to visit whenever you are in the mood to eat Mexican food - simple high quality food. Highly recommended and a spot I will always return to whenever I visit Denver next time. read more

Was back in Tacos Selene again today working on a smothered burrito fix and the food was good. Their smothered burritos being similar in sloppiness to other restaurants was greatly enhanced with the use of their salsa bar. The pickled onions, radishes, and even carrots are a great addition to any dish on top of their lineup of home made hot sauces. Food was so so. Green chili was bland and burrito had very little chicken and was mostly rice. I got the smothered Chicken burrito. Ordered 30 tacos for takeout. Received a tray with meat, that was clearly not enough for 30. I was also told they didn't include salsas in my order and that I would have to fill my own from the salsa bar, which only had small individual cups. The girl was rude when I asked for a larger container so that I wouldn't waste my time filling all of them. I'm obsessed with this place, my favorite place for a breakfast burrito in the western littleton area. Food is prepared quick and staff is very friendly. The burritos are reasonably priced. The inside is your standard down and dirty (not really dirty) local mexican place. There is normally plenty of seating but it sometimes gets busy. I love that they have a topping bar with salsas, pico, limes, and more for your street tacos. I also love the Al Pastor. The queso is not great though, it tastes like just your basic nacho cheese sauce. read more

The best tacos of my life! I live in CA- and I can't believe that the best tacos I've had are here in Aurora. Everything about the tacos is perfection- 1. The tortilla is absolutely delicious on its own, I am a great cook and this tortilla elevated the taco experience. The meats- all of them so flavorful and good, the veggies are all crunchy and the salsas are 100 on my list. I think these are better than tacos el gordo in Tijuana, or any other tacos I have had in LA and OC - to help you give you a reference. read more

We enjoy this authentic Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is lackluster, but the food is great. Service is friendly, but food comes out a bit slow. I also wish they had bigger containers for the salsa as I had to wait behind a guy who was filling 20 of them. Came in on Tuesday- $1.50 per taco. They also have a salsa bar with pickled onions, roughly 10 salsas, & jalapeños. For $3 you can't beat it. The salsa was incredible, the giant jalapeños made the tacos exactly what I wanted. The tacos were big and filling. Will be back! read more

Great Mexican food, street tacos amazing, and impressive salsa bar. Pico de gallo has some heat but delicious. Quesadillas are insanely good as well. Haven't had a thing I haven't really enjoyed but the Barbacoa tacos are incredible. Service is great and friendly. Just wanted to update, 3 years later and a move across town, this is still one of my favorite places to get Mexican food. Staff are always nice and welcoming! Prices have increased a bit but I still think it is very reasonable. They have a great salsa bar that is definitely give you the heat if you want it! Burritos & the tacos are still full of flavor and great portion sizes for the price! ($2.50/taco; $10 for my all time favorite lengua burrito) I honestly prefer this location over the one in Aurora. The food seems more fresh here, they have not missed a beat with it. The horchata is okay, not overly sweet but not my favorite. read more

What is it about taco joints in strip malls that make them so delicious?!?! It's definitely not the fact that they're inevitably sandwiched between a check cashing store and a nail salon. Guessing it's just because the people that run it are REAL. Tacos Selene hits the mark on this, definitely in a non-descript strip mall in Littleton but come here at lunch on a weekday and it's packed, always a good sign. Got to try 4 different tacos and all of them were terrific. The tripe was not too salty and was perfectly crunchy. The Al Pastor had amazing flavor and just the right amount of pineapple to juice it up. The asada was perfect and the carnitas were well flavored and just slightly crispy, which in my opinion makes them perfect. The service was good, nothing spectacular but if it was it would be weird anyway. Good food if you stick to burritos and tacos. I made the mistake of ordering nachos thinking it would be a load of melted cheese with toppings but it was the gross nacho cheese you'd see at a high school football game concession stand. Hardly anything you'd expect to receive at a restaurant and definitely not worth the money. We sat down to eat and a woman who worked there came over and spent the whole time we were eating sweeping around our table and dragging metal tables around (like nails on a chalkboard), repositioning the dining room. She was on her phone while she was doing it and seemingly unaware (or straight up didn't care) that she was sweeping mere inches away from where we had food on tables. You will not be disappointed. This place is amazing! And I am glad they decided to come to this side of town because it is so hard to find true authentic Mexican food anywhere near Littleton. We didn't try everything on the menu yet, however we tried the tacos and they were delicious! We even got the opportunity to meet the owners and they are such wonderful people. They do sell tortas, tacos, burritos and also pupusas. Check out the salsa bar with a verity of different salsas and toppings to elevate your tacos to the next level- from mild to hot, it satisfies every preference. When I first started coming here it felt really hole-in-the-wall. I really need to start trying their other menu items but I keep coming back to their tacos 'cause these are the best street-style tacos in town. Trust me, I'm from Southern California and South Denver didn't know what a good taco was until Tacos Selene pulled up in town. It used to be only Latinos who ate here but now they've gotten a lot more popular. Prices have gone up a little bit since, but they're still reasonable. This place is also home to the best Mexican horchata in town. It's the creamiest I've ever had; you can tell it's made with real rice, not like, from a mix or anything. They've also got decent pupusas but their curtido could pack a bit more punch. This place is one of my favorites in town and extremely underrated. read more

I'd rate four stars if the service was good. I phone ordered for pickup and when I got there it was busy - dinner time. As I stepped up to the register, the cashier answered the phone and spoke with somebody on the other line for at least 3 minutes and didn't even acknowledge I was standing there. This wasn't a phone order, apparently a personal call because she was smiling while speaking.
