Torchy's tacos are definitely delicious, don't get me wrong, but if you're on any type of time constraints this is not the place to go. A coworker and I decided to eat here together today. As employees in the healthcare field, it's pretty important that we make it back from an hour long lunch period on time for our patients. We waited over 30 minutes for two tacos. They were good, but not worth scarfing down in 5 minutes and sprinting out the door to make it back in time. The pricing is also a bit outrageous, but there's not much you can do about chain restaurant pricing. Anyways, if you want to pay $7 a taco and wait 30 minutes, it's definitely worth a try. read more

My husband and I stopped in here for breakfast on March 30, 2018. I think that he had tacos with bacon and eggs. I had the Wrangler - scrambled eggs with beef brisket, potatoes, cheese and tomatillo sauce. I thought that it was great, and brought another Wrangler taco home for my daughter to try. She also liked the Wrangler, though she did ask me what kind of meat was in it. Once I assured her that the meat was brisket and not pork, she thought that the Wrangler was fine. (My daughter loves pigs so she refuses to eat pork.) I live on the west side of Lubbock and wish that we had another Torchy's Tacos on our side of town. Came here for lunch after a longgg time and the line is just as long as I remember! It took us 15 min to get to the front and I ordered the Tipsy Chick and the Green Chili Pork tacos. My friend got the queso and it was amazing!! Our food took 15 minutes to come and everything was so good. The Tipsy Chick comes with bacon bits marinated in a bourbon sauce, which totally worked with the rest of the flavors. I really liked the pork tacos too. I chose to get both in corn tortillas, and they actually gave me two tortillas per taco since they're pretty thin. Overall, food was great and I need to come back more often! read more

What has happened to Torchy's? Since they opened my family has loved them, so much that we sometimes find ourselves making the 35-40 minute round trip two or three times a month for take-out. Yet they recently changed the online ordering system to make it much more difficult to order and lately it seems they can't get our orders correct. We ask for avocado on some tacos, they forget it. We order two Democrats, they give us one. We order two orders of chips and guacamole, we get one. Of course they always remember to charge us for everything! The food's still good, for sure, but they aren't getting orders right. After the most recent disappointment I called and was told by a harried manager that my bill would be adjusted but four days later I see it wasn't. If you haven't tried Torchy's, I still recommend the food, especially for dining in. The tacos are delicious and the options are awesome. If you're ordering take-out, I suggest checking and double-checking your order before you leave, all the way down to unwrapping your tacos, to make sure you got what you paid for. After spending a lot of time in Texas, I had heard of Torchy's. However, being raised in Tucson, AZ I am somewhat of a taco snob. While I was in Lubbock, I decided I had to finally see what the hype was about. Since we were there after school had already been let out for the summer, it wasn't slammed, but it was still somewhat busy. We looked over the menu, entertained by the fun names of the tacos and were able to place our order without waiting. We had ordered Chips & Guacamole as a appetizer, The Democrat (beef barbacoa), Fried Avocado, Trashy Trailer Park (fried chicken taco with queso) & Mr. Pink (ahi tuna) for tacos, a chicken fajita, and Nookies (deep fried cookie dough balls) for desert. The chips & guac were brought out (and devoured) before the meal. The guacamole was so delicious and had a little kick from added jalapeños. You are also given a hearty amount of guac with the correct amount of chips to eat it with. When the rest of our meal arrived, we couldn't wait to dig in. While the tacos weren't the best I've had in my life, they were pretty yummy! The Trashy Trailer Park taco was an experience on its own, but all of our tacos had great flavors. The fajita had well seasoned chicken, but wasn't anything to write home about. I would've been happier with the meal if we had chosen a different taco instead. Our desert, the Nookies, were as amazingly delicious and sinful as you would expect deep fried cookie dough to be. We are definitely glad we only ordered 3! We enjoyed the flavors, and while these aren't exactly traditional tacos, they are perfect "college town tacos". By this I mean that I could totally see this place being packed during the school year (especially after Texas Tech games) with happy students enjoying some good food. Food is garbage. Fajita meat is tough and chewy. Salsa is not good compared to other Tex Mex restaurants. Always out of a certain beer that I prefer and the TV's are small and old. The only manager that is good here is John. The other managers including the bar manager has no personality and never come out to acknowledge or thank regulars. Sad. Omg how is this place still in business On a road trip from California to Texas me and my group stopped here for a quick snack and bathroom break. Very limited menu options so I got 2 tacos (chorizo cheese and egg) for like $5. Now I have no problem paying that amount when the food Is at least decent if not worth it. I finished maybe half of the first one then threw them both out. How hard is it to make chorizo and eggs? Hell the stuff I slap together in my kitchen comes out with more flavor than an actual restaurant and I suck at cooking! I had previously visited the Torchy's in Baylor & decided to try out the one here in Lubbock. I got the Brushfire which is jerk chicken, mango, cilantro & sour cream. It originally comes with jalapeños & Diablo sauce but unless you enjoy SUPER spicy I would recommend leaving them off. It was THE best taco I've gotten from them so far. This was a fun place to go for lunch. I got two tacos, the half order of chips and queso and a soft drink for just over $11. The tacos were good, and met my expectations. The queso was really good also. They serve breakfast tacos all day too. The guy working at the counter was very helpful to me and had some suggestions, because you could tell I hadn't been there before by the way I was looking at the menu. Can I give a negative star? 45 min wait time for a 5 dollar taco smaller than my hand. Had to take it to go because I had to be at work. ,It was ice cold and looks like cat vomit!!!! Left it sitting open on my table, my garbage disposal of a dog wouldn't touch it, and he eats rotten eggs from the trash and his own poop! This is insane! UPDATE: I generally take mine own advice and would have missed out. It is still quite noisy and it was only half full. The green chili queso is very good and a definite buy. The meat in the trailer park was a bit dry. BUT, they have breakfast tacos all day and the wrangler is as good as I've ever eaten. Next time, no matter what time of day, it will my food of choice! I've been to many a taco joint in my day. A few of them have been exceptional. This was my first time and I got to say, this isn't one of them. The food was just OK, but the noise level was way too high. All the metal and concrete inside made every sound echo. Couldn't even carry on a conversation at the table without leaning way in and talking loud...even without screaming fans or kids. About the food: the taco's were not the greatest. Had one with steak and one with chicken. On both, the meat was so over cooked and dried out that it was closer to jerky. The guacamole was pretty tasty though. read more

First time to this restaurant chain. Unique menu with different flavors for different tastes (mild to spicy). Staff was very nice. Food came out in a decent amount of time. Everything tastes very fresh. I had the Chicken Fajita taco & the Republican sausage taco. Both were great. Also had some of their house salsa which had a really good flavor. The queso and guacamole are great for sharing. However, I enjoy authentic Mexican or Tex-Mex when enjoying tacos. Perhaps I have not found my go-to option at Torchys, I am always willing to test out this theory. I will say that the Diabo Sauce is a staple in my house and I must always grab a bottle or two when I am traveling through Texas. It goes great on anything. I want to love this Torchy's. I really do. After all, I live across the street. However, I do not. It is mediocre at best. I think Torchy's is great drunk food...particularly on 6th street...the one in Lubbock always leaves me nostalgic. (That is not to say I don't go here for a margarita every now and then, but that is becoming more and more sporadic). Let's address the atmosphere (after all, I'm a lover of a good atmosphere): the bartenders are pretty deuschy. I mean, if you're in the "bro club", step on up. The girl bartenders will flirt with you until you tip big and the guys will "bro it up" with you (but I've noticed they laugh at almost everyone when they leave, which I don't really like in my bartenders). My star justification: while I am not a big Torchy's fan, I know a LOT of ppl who are. I think the one here in Lubbock leaves so much to be wanted. Stopped by with our party of 5 for lunch. They had COVID practices in order, we felt completely safe. The service was awesome and our drinks were good and very reasonably priced. We were very surprised by the selection and the full bar! Being from New Mexico, we were thrilled to find a taco place with real green chili, spicy queso, and corn or flour soft tacos. I love, love, LOVE Torchys! I have never been disappointed with the food or service. The ambiance is great for having a meal and even drinks with friends and family. The restaurant itself is usually clean. During rush hour it's a bit messier, but that's understandable in my opinion. There is a lot to choose from on the menu so you can be sure there is something for everyone in your party, even vegetarians. I've never had a bad experience with the servers or cashiers. There was one instance in which our order was incorrect, but they promptly fixed it and compensated us for it. There are many Torchy's locations but they are all consistent. What you order at one location will be the same no matter what location you visit. My only complaint would be the drinks. I am not a fan of the sodas they offer and wish there more non-soda options as I'm generally not a soda fan. Other than that I definitely recommend Torchy's and will most definitely be back in the future. read more
