I love, love, LOVE Torchys! I have never been disappointed with the food or service. The ambiance is great for having a meal and even drinks with friends and family. The restaurant itself is usually clean. During rush hour it's a bit messier, but that's understandable in my opinion. There is a lot to choose from on the menu so you can be sure there is something for everyone in your party, even vegetarians. I've never had a bad experience with the servers or cashiers. There was one instance in which our order was incorrect, but they promptly fixed it and compensated us for it. There are many Torchy's locations but they are all consistent. What you order at one location will be the same no matter what location you visit. My only complaint would be the drinks. I am not a fan of the sodas they offer and wish there more non-soda options as I'm generally not a soda fan. Other than that I definitely recommend Torchy's and will most definitely be back in the future. read more

Worst experience ever! This would've been my second time visiting Torchy's Tacos since I am from Roswell, my boyfriend and I were excited to eat here again. He was getting a tattoo that would take all day long so we were sure to call Torchy's to see what time they close due to COVID-19 I don't trust yelp or google being correct on hours of operation. When we called a gentleman picked up the phone and told us they closed at 11pm. When I arrived at 10pm Torchy's was closed I called and the gentleman said "Idk where you got that from but that's wrong." And hangs up. Rude service. I gave it a two stars because their food is better than their service and I'm sure that gentleman was having a bad day. read more

We have Torchy's in Houston that I've been to many times. I was just getting back into Texas from a road trip to Colorado, and was looking for a little taste of home. So I headed to the Torchy's in Lubbock right next to my hotel--the Overton. The location looked nice on the inside--things appeared clean, I had my group claim a table large enough to accommodate us (12 people) and I headed to the bathroom. It was nasty. Pee was all over the ground and on multiple urinals. It just looked like it hadn't been cleaned in too long. I ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna and the Fried Avacado. I've ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna before, and it's pretty good. I was looking for something lighter, because I had eaten heavy food my entire trip thus far. I ordered a soda, because I feel like you have to order their unique sodas when you go there! Those were good, but the ice machine wasn't filled. We sat down at the table, and it was super dark. This was because the light fixtures were on a circuit that was blown. There was nothing management could do about it (we asked) and there wasn't another area to accommodate a group our size. The Seared Ahi Tuna was waaaaaay overcooked and it just made the entire taco Incredibly fishy. It was difficult to swallow--and I have an iron stomach. I'm not sure if it was the Tuna Taco or the Fried Avacado, but I wasn't overly impressed with that either. Again, I might have just been feeling ill from the Tuna, but I left the restaurant completely underwhelmed. On a positive note, the employees were friendly, there just wasn't much they could do. I never like sending back food, so I didn't ask them to take it back. All in all, it was just a pretty poor experience with the atmosphere, food, and bathrooms. read more

Well i think this is more overrated. Looking at price before we ordered. I was assuming these tacos will be really big. Average of $4-5 per taco..no sides? But as we looked at what people had on the table...we all ordered 2 each. I got shrimp which was good and salmon which wasnt, the fish and beans were dry. Had to remove beans out. Hubby got jerk chicken and catfish. He said they were ok but was still hungry. Kid got tuna and carfish..he liked tuna better. Nothing we got was something we would spend the money for again eapecially when we can spend 10 each at abuelos and get sooo much more food and delicious at that. I love torchys tacos. I don't care that they are expensive their food is good. However.. Something bad happened last time. Like really bad. :( It appears that torchys makes its own tortilla chips in-house. It also appears that at some point Wed or Thurs that someone didn't check them and cut up some moldy tortillas and fried them into chips. It ruined my whole meal. It was disgusting. That being said.. *This review probably needs a disclaimer that I'm a former Austinite and would have Torchy's queso hooked up to me via IV if I could. The first of every month is like Christmas morning because I get to find out what the Taco of the Month is. My tastebuds have endless praise for the Scallywag and the Roscoe. Seriously, Google what's in them and tell me if you aren't fighting the urge to run to your car and speed right over. TAKE MY MONEY. My other go-to tacos include the fried avocado, the Democrat, and the Matador. The $3 drink choices are also pretty good for what you're paying, especially the sangria. For as many people that are there whenever I go, I've never had any trouble finding seating for even big groups of people. The patio is really great when the weather is nice (so, 5/365 days of the year in LBK). Downsides include pricing and slow service, but I've accepted that because the tacos are worth it. Watch out they will over charge you at the bar and then add their own tip on. Ordered 2 mixed drinks and was charged $28. Thought it was high but whatever so I tipped a dollar. Next day I noticed I was charged $33. Bartender changed the tip. Called the manager who said he would take care of it and call me back...3 days later still waiting. This busy fast food style taco joint has great food; However, the service was less than I'd expect with so many employees. Stopped in on a Thursday evening and waited in line 15 min. They could use another front register. I ordered the monthly special and a Corona with a lime...the limes were in the cooler but was told I'd have to go to the bar to get a lime? We sat down and waited another 20 min for our order, they forgot the chips and queso and was told it would be right out....after we were finished eating we flagged down a server and finally got the rest of our meal. No worries, I ordered a second beer at the bar and we enjoyed the chips...great food but not a top notch service experience. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. Ordered online today at 12:04. Order was supposed to be ready to pick up at 12:13. I arrive about 5 minutes late, thinking the order would be done, but it wasn't. I'm given a pager and told to put it on a mat in the middle of a table, which I do. Twenty minutes pass and I still haven't been given my To Go order. I go to the counter to get an approximate time frame, because I'm on my lunch break and need to leave soon in order to get to work on time. My To Go order had been sitting behind the counter getting cold for who knows how long, while I waited at a table with a pager. There were several people in the restaurant when I arrived, but the crowd had begun to thin while I waited. At the time I retrieved my food from the counter, there was only one person in line waiting to order. They were not busy, and several employees were meandering aimlessly back and forth between the kitchen and the front counter. If they had been doing their jobs I would have received my order in a timely manner and there would have been no problems, save for the HAIR I found in my fried avocado taco when I was halfway done eating it. Yes, a HAIR. I am extremely aggravated that I wasted my time and $12 on food that I couldn't eat. I was a fan of Torchy's from my years of living in Austin, and I have frequented the Lubbock location often since I moved back here, but I will not return. I have noticed a steady decline in food quality and service at this location over the last couple of years, but my experience today put the icing on the cake. Lost my order twice in the last month. Each time waited about an hour before I finally received my food. To top it off my to-go order I ordered last night had the most stale chips I had ever seen or tasted in my life. But if you enjoy bothering staff for 45 minutes to then find out they lost your order, then wait another 10 minutes for them to make it, to then get home to stake chips with your queso, this is the place for you. The brushfire taco was excellent! I also got 2 breakfast tacos that were not as good. The spinach egg and bacon needed more spinach. Also I ordered it on corn and got flour. First time eating here. We walked in around 1:20 and it was packed. The line went relatively fast considering and we were impressed with the friendly staff, and delicious food. I ordered the crossroads and tipsy chick. My husband enjoyed the tipsy chick while I loved the crossroads. Our two year old ate the chicken fingers meal and the chicken was very soft and easy for her to chew, it also had a good flavor. The chips and queso is a must here people, yum! I usually get the Mr. Orange. This taco has blackened salmon topped with a grilled corn and black bean relish, queso fresco and cilantro. Drizzled with Avocado salsa, then served with a wedge of lime. It is really fresh and light tasting, but fills me up. They also don't get enough credit for brunch. They have yummy mimosas and tacos made of waffles. If those two things don't get you excited, well, then order something else! They have a rotating seasonal taco of the month to get excited about too! I really do like the fact that they have the word "damn" on the wall just because it is funny to see such a thing in conservative Lubbock. It is like having a part of Austin in Lubbock with me. I wish this was an updated review, because you would be able to see the way I really enjoyed this place before. My last experience was very regrettable. I usually visit with a friend and we enjoyour tradition by getting the same old things and sneaking our diet away at the soda fountain station. My order is two Mr. Pinks, and her's is the Shrimp tacos. I love my Mr. Pinks and I think they're a great concept. My only flaw before then was how badly the tortillas stayed together all the time and the lack of side sauce. But now, things have just changed quite alot. The portions were very much reduced. I used to get a cut of fish before and now only chucks to each portion of the taco? I used to be able to make 4 smaller tacos with the double portion of Mr. Pink's tuna, but now barely even that. But that's not the worst, that probably what helped me get through this meal! Once I took a bite there was something VERY wrong. My mouth was on fire, not an enjoyable salsa type of way but a fire that can only come about due to over seasoning. My mouth experienced as much pain as eyes might when sprayed with pepper spray. It was completely inedible. Yes, the taco is usually spicy but not unenjoyable to every degree possible. I'm originally from mexico, so I do spicy for FUN but this was different. Why would you do that to people? I took a couple other bites just to make sure it wasn't just my mind tricking me but- nope there was no denying something had been put into my food to make it 100% less enjoyable and unsatisfactory. If you live in Lubbock and you haven't been to Torchy's yet, you're wrong. Yes they're a chain, but don't hate on them for that (what are you, from East Austin or something? Gosh). They have some pretty awesome tacos. Personal favorites are the Crossroads (Brisket, Bacon, Onions, Cilantro, Sauce) and the Brushfire (Jerk Chicken, Mangos, Cilantro, Diablo Sauce). Their rotating selections of tacos of the month are always awesome as well, but the T.O.T.M. tends to be a bit on the pricey side, so plan accordingly. They are close to campus, and they have great drink specials, so they're usually pretty overrun with the college crowd, which can be frustrating. If you go on an off hour (or for breakfast because breakfast tacos are proof that God loves us and the world will be okay in the end) then the line isn't too bad. Even if you do happen to catch a long line, it moves fast, hop on in. read more

I really enjoyed the tacos with brisket and they put a large amount into the tacos, which make the price totally worth it. On the weekends they have 3 dollar mimosas and sangrias.
