Tori is AMAZING. Full stop. My husband, 3-year-old and I had the opportunity to purchase one of my family's homes in my hometown of DC and things came about quickly and with lots of anxiety. Luckily, I found Tori and, even on the initial estimate walkthrough, she was immediately calming, and so "you-got-this!" that we really felt like we did. Once we hired Tori, she came in like a well-organized storm and got us into a groove that even felt good to a feverish sickie like me (I had a bad cold which was kicking my butt); she recommended and coordinated a phenomenal experience with a great moving company, got us packed (with the exception of the art and record collection, which we left for the movers) within 3 sessions - while entertaining and including our rambunctious 3-year-old, taught us very doable future organizing tools for the new place and was a genuine blast to be around. And when we initially thought we'd be unpacking as soon as we arrived - instead of getting renovations done first as we settled on doing - she offered to put us in touch with a DC-based organizer or to come down and help us herself. Tori is truly fantastic! We were feeling unhappy in our 1 bedroom apartment, and rather than inflating our lifestyle and getting a bigger place (or leaving NYC!), we decided to give Tori a try. Yes, techincally you can just dig in and declutter yourself, but when you engage Tori you get several benefits: 1) You carve out a designated time to do this activity 2) Because you're investing in it, you take it very seriouslyi 3) You're saving all the "trial and error" you'd normally get when trying to DIY, which can waste your time and money (if buying mutliple "organization solutions") 4) You get very pro advice! 5) You wouldn't be researching an organizer if you would've done it yourself! Regarding #3: Just having Tori show up and say "do this, change that, get rid of this, and implement these systems" accomplished a home transformation for us in 4 hours. If I tried to do that on my own time, it would've taken 25+ hours, or never have been done properly. Tori is the best organizer and an incredible value. When I reached out to Tori I was desperate. I am pretty good at sorting and getting rid of stuff but I had gotten to the point of needing an expert. Tori worked with me over the course of four hours one evening and we were able to purge my closet of seven bags of clothing and consolidate all of my clothing into one closet and two drawer spaces. Tori took all of the excess clothes that night and donated them, emailed me the receipt. She also reached out to The Real Real so I could consign six pairs of shoes. She then followed up her visit with an email checklist of resources and organizational systems so I could DIY the rest of my closet. I feel so relieved. Tori has moved me twice and without her I'd still be living amidst moving boxes and packing paper. For most of my life, I've been battling against clutter. I'm a sentimental writer who likes to be surrounded by familiar and inspiring things, so I always saved way more than needed to be saved. I'm a person who's nervous about not having the proper documentation for things (what if I'm audited? or in a car accident? or in a Ponzi scheme?), so the accumulated paper in particular was overwhelming. I have a home office in my small bedroom, and there was no distinction as to where the work ended, because it never did. Tori came in with a good-natured and understanding approach: we spoke about what I needed and she gave me an estimate for how many hours it would take: she stayed with me every step of the way to explain what was really needed and what I could ditch. She helped me to rearrange the furniture to create "office" and "living" space, and gave me guidelines for upkeep, which - more than a week later, I'm still following. Shredding so much paper, giving away so many books, and finding a place for the things that were important to me (a "memorabilia" box goes a long way) was scary and cathartic, but Tori made it a nurturing and validating process (and as painless as a massive purge can be for someone like me). We worked with the furniture I had, and Tori gave me suggestions as to what organizational pieces could be added. We created a to-do list for projects, and I'm making some slow progress on it. :) Of course, I'll have to commit to the upkeep, but Tori's checking in on me to see how things are going: I feel proud to have taken this organizational step and am committed to keeping things neat as I move forward. I just moved and would very highly recommend Tori. She helped us prepare for the move by purging items that we weren't going to take (seems silly to pack up things you'll just throw out) and getting a sense of where we were thinking of using items in our new space. She coordinated with my movers and helped make decisions on what/how/if to pack certain items, which made unpacking with her so much easier. I'm a pretty organized Type A individual (and have the time to unpack as I'm on maternity leave) and at first I scoffed at having to pay an organizer so much, but she helped me deal with getting moved in, which included stuff from our 2 br apartment and furniture/wedding presents/a storage closet full of other stuff from in laws, which I could never have done nearly as well on my own. It was quite the undertaking, and she put a plan in place, helped delegate things to do for all my friends and family who helped, and made lots of suggestions on where to put things. She got me packed, moved in, and unpacked into our renovated 3BR home (plus all the stuff that comes with a 4 month old) in 4 days. I was so fortunate to find Tori via a Google search that took me to the Yelp reviews. We were scheduling a move after being in our apartment for 15 years with 15 years of collected "memories". Between work and my son, I. could not imagine tackling the move with just my husband to help. Enter Tori. She came over, assessed, and took photos. She provided me with several quotes outlining several different options. We decided on 24 hours for pack and unpack. Tori began with my kitchen. This was my huge worry because we have endless glass. In a few hours it was done. Not a single piece broke, chipped, or scratched. Incredible! I could go on and on. But, to sum it up, for us 24 hours divided over 4 days had us packed and unpacked. My husband and I did do most of our clothes. I packed our son's room and Tori unpacked and organized it. Plus, she did the bathrooms! This was the other daunting part for me. In short, Tori is nothing short of amazing. As an added plus she is simply a nice person. She can get along with anyone and can talk about anything. Tori helped me clear out a lifetime of paper clutter and although I did not expect to enjoy the work, I ended up getting into it. She helped me do what I thought I could have done on my own but never did. And together we created a filing system so that moving forward I can maintain it myself. Tori actually makes the job fun. The amazing thing is, when I forget where we put something, I call Tori and she knows where it is. We did my bedroom (where I have lots of built in cabinets) and 2 walk in closets. I used Tori for my move this week; my husband and I were moving from a spacious one bedroom to a two bedroom with less square footage as we prepare for our first child. With losing significant closet space and adding a child, I was feeling extremely overwhelmed with the entire process and decided to bring someone in to help. After my first conversation and consultation with Tori, I immediately felt more at ease. She has such a calm demeanor and approach to the organization process, I can't recommend her enough. She talked me through the closet design process prior to move in to help set us up for a much smoother transition when we unpacked, and it was instrumental in having the unpack be a success this week. Tori helped me move into another bedroom within my house and had an insane ability to visualize the potential of a room full of clutter and help me turn it into my new favourite space. I moved into my sisters bedroom after she moved across the country, the room was extremely messy. Tori spent the day with me categorizing items to toss out, stuff to save and things to store. We vacuumed and cleaned the entire room top to bottom, including paint spilled on the carpet, and once we had a clean slate, it was time to move my beloved treasures and furniture in. My favourite part of the whole experience was that she worked collaboratively with me and continuously asked me for my preferences and opinions on the entire set-up, ambiance and furniture placement of the room. I worked with Tori this past Sunday on a closet overhaul and it was one of the best things I have ever done!!! She is so good at what she does and makes the process so easy and comfortable. I have been living in my apartment for 6 years so stuff had naturally accumulated and I was in a total rut.
