He gave us the option to reschedule or give it a shot knowing the bite could come back any time. We chose to reschedule for a few days out. On fishing day, there were only 4 of us anglers, Captin Jarrid, and our deck hand Ayden. Jarrid & Ayden set the trolling lins out and we hit the tuna real quick. A couple guys landed, but the bite died down. They set the trolling lines out again, switched jigs a couple times and we hit the tuna school again. It was non stop action till we finally ran out of bait. We got tons of fish. Awesome group of guys on board. Jarrid & Ayden worked real hard and this trip was more than worth it. However, my experience was anything but pleasant. I was greeted by a lady who, when I didn't know everything, berated me. To make matters worse, as she got off the call, she hurled offensive remarks at me. Salty fisherman are one thing, but being rude, condescending, and calling people four-letter words is absolutely ridiculous. They were complete ***. Avoid this company if you want any semblance of respect or professionalism.

Had a great time fishing for bottom fish on this boat. We started with rock fish which did not…read moretake long to get the boats limit of 7 fish each. The skipper actually dropped the anchor to fish this spot which something that I have not seen on the ocean. We used live bait (anchovies) which kind of surprised me, but it was effective. We used light gear with 10 lb test line which was really a hoot. From there we moved a short distance and fished for flounder. These fish were small, but we were motivated because the flounders were to be the bait for our true target, which was ling cod. After the flounder we moved to another spot in deeper water to fish for ling cod. This spot was in deeper water so we couldn't anchor but the skipper did a great job of keeping us over the fish. We limited out with 2 nice size ling cods per person and a few extras for the crew. The deckhand did a great job keeping us rigged up and baited. He also filleted all the fish for a good price and did a great job. The only downer was my mistake. I like to follow the track of the boat using my phone and a marine map. Apparently, this is a huge no no. They are concerned with people stealing their spots. I totally understood the skippers concern, so I turned off my phone and put it away. As angry as he got, I'd think he would put up a sign or something telling folks that gps tracking is verboten. Or maybe something in the terms and conditions. I would definitely go bottom fishing on this boat again. The skipper has good knowledge and boat skills. If there are bottom fish to be had, he will put you on them.

Still, in spite of carrying a boat of half seasick passengers who thought they knew best regarding what they wanted (myself of course included)--which was to go home and kiss some land--Captain Tom kept on. We finally found an area where the bottomfish kept biting and magically delivered not only more fish than we needed (though we didn't hit our minimums which.. according to my uncle who's done this before with Tommycod and according to the proud captain.. is unheard of) andddd best of all the sky opened up and the seas settled down. All went home happy, feeling much better, and hungry for fish. Also of note, their max passenger number to 6 which makes for a tight knit bunch and individual attention. It is not for the faint of heart though, as you are traveling out on the high seas in a relatively small boat just to spot some birds at the risk of losing your stomach contents and 8 hours of agony. But it is well worth the risk if you can pull it off! The staff is knowledgeable and quick to help you with any of the tricky bird ID's. They go the extra mile to let you see the rarities and they get just as excited as all the rest of the people on the boat when one appears.

The first day, we checked out the Fisherman's Boardwalk and crabbed/fished for over 7 hours. Caught a few Sea bass and limited out on Dungeness Crab! It was a pretty enjoyable day. Our second and third days were not as good because the weather was a bit colder, cloudy and very windy. Took a while to get our limit of crabs, but had no such luck getting the fish we wanted. Overall, we all had a whole lot of fun on our 3-day trip to Westport, WA! Got an ample amount of Dungeness Crab to take home and some Sea bass as well. Definitely needed a Vacay away from home and also from work. Even a short trip like this was beneficial to relax and rejuvenate ourselves.
