Jesse walked me through the scope of work upfront and we moved forward. The job wasn't simple -- the wall behind the shelves had herringbone tile. Jesse opened it up, installed proper backing so the shelves could be bolted in securely, then redid the herringbone tile and matched the existing grout so well you can't tell any repair was ever done. That's exactly the outcome you hope for with tile work. While he was in there, he also fixed a leaking tub spout that required opening another section of wall for plumbing work, then patched and painted it back to seamless. Jesse's attention to detail was outstanding throughout. I'll be calling him for any future work at the house.

I had the pleasure of contacting David, whom I asked several questions of how he would go about the process and I felt very comfortable with everything he walked through. He scheduled the work for a couple weeks out, text notifications let me know when he would be arriving and he was able to complete everything within a few hours. David cut the replacement beautifully using PVC so there is no maintenance on it in the future and caulked / sealed up all points of exposure to rain. Closer inspection revealed this was not always the case. We had to replace several of the spindles in the railing since they were noticeably bent. We called him when it was time to stain the deck. We thought his estimate was high but we said OK anyway. He procrastinated thru July and August when the weather was nice. You need at least three dry days in a row to do the staining. He finally got started in late September and finished in early October. Several rain delays. We found a lot of missed spots when we checked his work. We think he was in a rush to finish the job and get paid. One good thing, he didn't ask for any money up front. My wife spent 45 minutes doing touch up. I spent 2 hours doing the same. The original estimate was for cleaning and two coats of stain. Brandon later decided that only one coat of stain would be required since we were using an oil based stain. Brandon took almost nothing off of the estimate for this change. We felt he should have taken 1/3 off of the labor part of the estimate since he only did about 2/3 of the labor that was in the original estimate. We can no longer recommend KBN Homes.
