We used Just Fix It for a list of miscellaneous items we needed to do around the house. We had them replace some cracked tiles in the kitchen, touch up chips in the walls from the installation of our new countertops, and we had them paint a shed in our backyard we had installed last year. Their workers showed up every day they said they would be there on time and they stayed the entire day (even taking lunch in their cars). They scheduled backup rain delay days to plan ahead in case of inclement weather. Their estimate matched exactly the amount of time it took their workers to complete everything on our list, and they also allowed us to add something to our list and still got it done in time and on budget with their original estimate. Had them out the middle of June to install a bathroom faucet - I was very satisfied - Had a problem with a flickering light above my kitchen sink - scared me since it's electrical - someone came out Thursday morning June 21, 2022 - he checked and said it was a loose wire - I was very relieved - got home from work on Friday and turned that light on - not only was it flickering is was totally shutting off - I called at 5:40 yesterday evening and left a message "we'll get back to you within 24 hours" realize I'm jumping the gun a bit because of a few minutes - asked if there was any warranty or guarantee on the work - well - I haven't heard anything as of this writing - we aren't talking about a bad paint job or caulk - it's electric!!!! - read more

A few weeks ago I had them do various handyman projects and they did a good job. Based on the handyman project completion I then contracted them to paint my 2 story home and some outside wood repair/replacement. Both Robbie and Mark very professional and courteous while communicating well with me. We did daily progress walk thrus and did our final walk thru today. We hired Just Fix It!! Inc to do work on our house. After 5 days and 5000 dollars I'm realizing there isn't one task they didn't do a half ass job on. Even when it comes to painting, the walls were supposed to be a greenish grey instead they painted the entire first floor purple. That's merely one example of how poor the work was. When it was brought to the owners attention, he screamed at me over the phone. It's unbelievable the level of unprofessional the company and the owner is. I'll post some pics later to show how bad we got ripped off. Lesson learned. Never again. So much for the friend hookup. I've tried many handymen/contractors for various projects around my historical home. These guys are the most reliable and honest of everyone I have tried. They have been the only people who have been responsive, reasonably priced, and timely in setting up the time they can get to our project and completing it within the stated time frame, and they do a very solid job! They're now my 1st go to for handyman and basic fixes around the house (they've done walls and ceiling drywall repairs for us and it's good as new or even better) as I have attempted to use almost every other handyman service recommended and they've all fallen short except for these guys. read more

Shawn was awesome to work with! We had called them with quite the difficult time frame to install flooring, trim, and doors before a party we were hosting. They came out quickly to quote us and were able to start a couple days later. Unfortunately we discovered a mold problem after demo which delayed the project. They were hired to do a complete bathroom remodel. The quote seemed reasonable and the timeframe seemed reasonable. However, it took twice as long as they hsaid and 50% more than their quote. I continued to have problems for months, including a leak into my dining room below the bathroom causing black mold in the ceiling. They were dismissive of my issues and not willing to fix their own mistakes. It took almost 9 months to get the bathroom right. They had to come back at least four times to fix the problems before it was corrected. I still have issues with leaks but I will never call them again. read more

We had Just Fix-it out in the mid of winter to install a mailbox that had been knocked over by a car. They showed up when promised and worked in brutal cild conditions to get the mailbox and post installed. In the spring, when the weather thawed, the box and post looked a bit like a drunken sailor and required some work. Just Fix-it came out on a warranty call with no complaints and did a great job getting things looking solid again. They came out without us needing to be home , calling before they came. I don't know why Yelp doesn't like the seven reviews that say these guys are great, because these guys are great. I've used them repeatedly, both at my house and my mother-in-law's condo. I'm pretty handy, so I do most things, but there were a few things at her condo that I'm just not strong enough to handle like replacing the rollers on the sliding door or adjusting the through-the-wall AC unit. At our house, they spent two whole days (at a very fair price) doing everything - painting, repairs, storm doors, plumbing - to get things off my "to-do" list in prep for selling our house. We had used JustFixIt! for a few minor plumbing repairs in the past and thought they did a good job. But when we hired them to do a more significant project we had a completely different experience. We agreed with JustFixIt! to hire one of their workers for 5 full days, at their going labor rate. We wanted 3 rooms and a garage ceiling painted. We had to get on their waitlist for 6 weeks, but were assured by the office manager that one of their best workers would come to our house on Mon, July 1st and be there for 5 consecutive business days. I pointed out that we had overseas family members moving back in with us on July 11th so the work had to be completed by then. Not a problem, claimed JustFixIt! My wife and I proceeded to pack up all the books, pictures, and personal items, and moved the furniture toward the center of each room. We also purchased the wall and ceiling paint, so everything was ready to go for the painter, who was scheduled to arrive on Mon, July 1st. The painter didn't show up until 11am on the first day, 9:30am the next, and 12 noon on the 3rd day. At this point the painting project was getting behind. There was no explanation given by the office manager as to why the painter was arriving late and not putting in full days. To make matters worse, his attention to detail was lacking (large nail holes had not been filled in before painting began), he didn't clean up carefully (the garage floor had splotches of dry wall mud on it and the living room had drywall dust on shelves), and was taking smoking breaks every 30-45 mins. On the 4th day the painter never showed up, and we received no call from the office manager as to where he was. On the 5th and final day, when he was supposed to finish the job, he failed to show up by 12:30pm so we called the office to say we were ending our relationship with him and JustFixIt! (No one answered the office phone, so I left a voicemail, but did not even get a returned call). The company offered no apology nor made any offer to send someone in his place so the 3 rooms could be painted before our guests arrived. Incredibly, we were offered a 10% discount for future work. Now we have a houseful of people with 3 rooms that can't be used because they are packed up and covered in tarps. To add insult to injury, we had to find a new painting contractor and wait another few weeks until he is available to finish the job. Once we terminated JustFixIt!, my wife and I started getting repeated calls on our cell phones asking us to send in payment for the partial work completed and the materials purchased. All of a sudden, they were interested in communicating with the customer. Because we didn't return their calls immediately (visiting family in Michigan), the office manager escalated it to one of the owners. He called my cell and left an insinuating voicemail - asking we were avoiding them and "shirking payment" for the amount due. I found it quite insulting for him to say that when we had never even received an invoice that showed the actual hours the painter had worked and itemized the materials he had purchased. Once I received the detailed invoice, and confirmed it agreed with my record of the actual hours worked, I promptly paid the amount owed - even though JustFixIt! failed to perform the services they promised. The office manager even offered to have someone come to the house to pick up the check. I only wished they offered that kind of attention and service to my painting job. read more

I have tried several times to get an estimate from this company with no luck. Just Fix It came out to our house on 8/27 to provide an estimate for shower repair. The rep that came out, Jason was very pleasant, knowledgeable & gave us a couple options for repair. Upon leaving our house he stated an estimate would be sent the same day. I asked for a business card but he could not provide one. Since I had no business card or point of contact I reverted back to my original appt request in which Daniel Huemmer @ Just Fit It had replied back to me. My email to Daniel on the evening of 8/27 was following up to receive an estimate. I received no reply from my email to Daniel. I left a voicemail on 9/1 with the company's general voicemail inquiring on when the estimate would be sent. Madeline with Just Fix It did reply back to me in a voicemail stating they had all of my information & pics on the job but were behind in their estimates and would get back to me. I never received an estimate. I left another voicemail to Madeline's attention on 9/16 inquiring on when the estimate would be sent. I have not received a follow up and it's been more than 1 month since initial appointment. I am not sure why a company would waste their time coming out for an estimate & then never follow up. I called on a Friday to get a handyman for a small toilet fix. I was very pleased with the price quoted although I had to wait for Monday for an available handyman. I was booked for an appointment between 3- 5 pm Monday but the coordinator said he would call Monday morning to follow-up. I did not receive a call Monday morning so I called back. The coordinator apologized for not calling due to an emergency that came up which apparently cancelled all plans for my appointment that day. He promised to call me back (yet again) within the hour to reschedule. Again (surprise) no call back. Everyone has bad days and emergencies that come up so I was willing to work with them but after being jaded twice I have to believe this is no coincidence. This past summer, my brothers and I sought help to conduct repair work needed on our mother's house in Darien. All of us live out-of-town and the number of things we needed to do in order to prepare Mom's house for sale was overwhelming. I interviewed and received estimates from 5 or 6 contractors in search of a good general purpose handyman crew who would not cost us an arm and a leg. In the end, we picked Dan and Just Fix It because we liked Dan's approach. Dan proved to us that he and his crew would be there to take the stress off us. And they certainly lived up to this. There were a myriad of things needing to be handled ASAP so we could get the house on the market. In addition, the house was left in awful shape by previous tenants. When I arrived to the house from Colorado on Labor Day, there was a leaky pipe, the carpet reeked, repairs were needed on many items and the list of things I needed done grew and grew. Dan had his crew set up to begin work later in the week after I arrived. However, when I called him the evening I arrived with the leak problem, he and his group came to the house ready to work the following day. They came in and attacked the priorities flawlessly. I let out a huge sigh of relief. This wasn't a single instance occurrence either. Phillip, who became the chief handyman at the house over the next two weeks, did a fantastic job in tackling projects in order of their priority. We kept a Home Depot account open with them (via gift cards) and if I needed something, Phillip was happy to pick something up for me while he was there. At the end of the two week period, I looked around and was amazed at the quality work on so many different types of projects. This isn't where it ends, however. Dan knew I would be the only person here (my brothers came during the summer to handle some things) during this phase. Dan became a friend who I could count on to not only assist with the usual work I was paying him for. He also advised and offered me some of his own employees to assist me with my personal BIG, BIG project...holding a yard and estate sale. Dan's philosophy is that when you hire his crew, his Rolodex is yours. Being from out of the area, I had little familiarity with a lot of different things. I also needed painters, cleaners and some good solid advice on holding the yard sale. Although I'd already had several painters set up for estimates, Dan recommended I talk to a gentleman he knows, Roberto. I inevitably wound up hiring Roberto and his crew. They did a great job! Dan offered one of his office employees (Trina), who agreed to assist me with setting up and offering advice on the yard/estate sale. Another one of his employees, Nikko, is an avid fisherman (his father and grandfather are, as well). My father had a great deal of fishing equipment we'd need to sell. Nikko offered me tips on how to organize the equipment to sell...and even assisted me with the pricing of items. And to top things off, Dan let me borrow folding tables (6 of them) for displaying merchandise at the sale. He also had a tent he told me I could use if it rained. This is going above and beyond what you would expect when you hire a handyman and his crew! There are many more good things to say about Dan and his crew. I'll probably add more when I think about them. However, anyone who is considering hiring a handyman to do work at their house will be very happy if they choose Just Fix It. It is a family business which treats you in as part of their family. They are reliable, do quality work, go above and beyond AND are very reasonably priced. How often do you come to the end of the job and the contractor tells you the estimate was a little too high...and that they owe you some hours? Go with Just Fix It. I was given many options that day, to fix the door jam. All included taking the door down, the trim, and pretty much redoing the entire doorway. I did decline. I fixed the problem of the door closing all the way in under five minutes with a rotary tool. Wasn't difficult or rocket science. As far as the trim, I was called from Home Depot and informed they no longer carried the same trim I had. I was told he, Sean, was going to look at my paperwork and see if he could find more trim, because it would be easier then replacing all of it. A whopping total of about 12 feet. He said he would call at the end of the week or Monday. Never called. It doesn't make sense to turn down allegedly many options to fix the issue of the non-matching trim. It's not like something similar in the same color couldn't be found, the trim's not even solid wood. So, the owner is either choosing the unethical unprofessional route of lying or was lied to. Neither is good business. I didn't think asking for them to fix their wrong was such a big deal, no matter when, it was their error. Even confirmed by their own staff. I'll have to pay someone to fix THIER BLATANT SCREW UP. Just like I did with their lazy and unsafe electrical handy work. CONSUMER BEWARE!! read more

I can do a lot of things on my own, so I don't typically need a handyman. However, I am horribly afraid of heights and when my neighbor kindly pointed out that the corner of my 2nd story roof was pulling up in the gusty winds, I had to find someone to fix it for me. I called around to about 7 different groups in my area to get an estimate. Of all of them, Just Fix It came out as the best. On top of that, they were also the quickest to respond and get moving on this. I had Douglas as the guy who came out and did the estimate and also did the work. Let me start by saying how great Doug was. He took a look at what was needed, answered my questions, and was simply a nice guy to work with. He gave me straight answers, and was able to help me out. I could tell he was very knowledgeable at his job, and knew quite a bit about all sorts of home building/repairing projects. As for the work, Doug got up there and not only nailed down my shingles with better nails, he also took the time to put down some tar to help give it more security. After he was done, he took the time to explain what the problem had been, as well as everything he did to fix it. Again, he was very friendly and very easy to work with. I was so impressed, I even had him take a look at my basement, as I am planning to have that finished sometime in the near future. He took the time to walk through, do the measurements, and then have some discussion with me on options of what we could do. He told me which options would cost more, and which would be cheaper to go with (so that I had all the information I needed to make a good educated decision with how I would like to proceed).
