My husband and I came in on a Saturday afternoon and were surprised to find the place pretty much empty. We sat at the bar and started with chips & salsa. They were just okay; not the worst I've ever had but not the best either. For my entree, I ordered the 3 "tacos de calle" and choose chicken, carne asada and chorizo for my taco fillings. All of them were great and tasted authentic but the carne asada one was my favorite! The rice & beans were a bit dry but not bad overall. OMG... this place deserves 10 stars. The food is EXQUISITE, DELICIOUS!!!... Authentic...Mexican food, Guadalajara, Jalisco style. It is family owned, the grandma makes the TORTILLAS by hand, we met her and she is adorable. My husband and I found this place in January and we have not stopped visiting this place, we even order take out. The plates are well served. I recommend to start with the Birria plate or soup!.. The service is phenomenal, they make you feel like home. The moment you step in you are greeted with familiarity and attention. The place had the mexican decor and well served BAR. I love birria tacos so when I found out there was a whole restaurant dedicated to this delicacy, I knew I had to try it. I had an event nearby so I left the house early so I could beat traffic and stop in for tacos. My intern got stuck in said traffic so I dined solo. Inside the decor is nice and festive plus my server was very sweet. I started with an order of the birria dumplings. They were like gyoza but filled with beef and served with consume for dipping. Of course I had to get the birria tacos as well. It came with three tacos, beans, and rice, and again a consume for dipping. The tacos were great... probably in my top 3 for birria. We were here for opening night and had a blast. There was a live mariachi band, singing, and dancing. I didn't understand a single word of it and still had a great time. The food was amazing. The Hulk Burrito lived up to its name. It's loaded with rice, beans, cheese, and steak. Then it's covered in green sauce. The tequila mule was perfect. Great if you enjoy ginger. Had a nice evening at the newly opened Toro Burria. Very welcoming wait staff who were very attentive as well. Business hasn't picked up yet, so we were able to be seated right away. When we entered, it was only a few people dining, but it filled up quickly thereafter. It's a spacious place so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of other guest. The food was good. I ordered a burrito which was fairly large and fully stuffed with chicken, beef, and veggies. My friend ordered the wonton appetizer which was flavorful and the ACP and enjoyed it as well. The drinks were good, but could use less sweetness for better balance. I mentioned this to my waitress and the next drink was just right. It's in a great location with plenty of parking, so I know business will pick up soon. Looking forward to dining here again soon. read more

Unfortunately, I can't speak to anything other than the fact that we were coming in town for a concert, selected this for dinner, made reservations, got there, only to learn something was wrong and they wouldn't be seating anyone for 30 minutes. It's that damn good.! next I decided to order the Beria sample platter because I really love Beria and I was not disappointed. This thing is massive and so good. Oh my goodness, their white queso is some of the most flavorful cheese pulled white queso I've ever had in my life. It's a game changer. Truly you really need to order this. The next time you come and then it's got these little taquitos that are full of shredded Birria beef and then you got that little side cup of the burial, consume brawl to dip it in and then they also have like a little Birria cheese, queso kind of quesadilla where the tortilla has been dipped in that broth and then grilled oh my gosh, so good and then all of that is on top of these nachos that have lettuce and tomatoes and jalapeños and the shredded beer beef with that white queso all over it oh my goodness I don't even want to think about the thousands of calories this dish probably has but it's so delicious and you just have to try it. you just have to order this. First time here it is tucked away off Dorchester Road. Once walking inside, it's nice chill vibes, clean place. The margarita was very good along with the salsa, which had a lot of flavor. Maybe we came on a bad day but this was our least favorite Mexican restaurant we've tried. Service was slow and there were only 5 people in the whole place at the time. Wow! I'm so impressed with Toro Birria. We've been to so many Mexican restaurants in this area, and the food here is far beyond any other place. Everything is so flavorful and fresh, and you can tell it's homemade. Even the free salsa with chips were delicious, like I couldn't stop eating the salsa even though I rarely have more than 2-3 chips anywhere else. The spicy cucumber margarita was dangerously good! We saw that Toro served gorditas and we haven't been able to find good ones around Chucktown so we gave it a try. We started with chori-queso which was surprisingly big and flavorful. Since it was our first time there we wanted to sample a few items. We had the birria sope (very good), chicken tamale (very dry), birria gordita (tasty but a bit soggy) and the esquite (meh) Overall our experience was good. Our server was very polite and responsive. The ambience was your average Mexican joint. I would say it's a solid 3 stars. It's tough with so many other good options out there. read more

We tried multiple things in the menu and did not enjoy the food as it looked old and melted. The website that they use online adds three dollars per menu item meaning you pay a minimum of $12-$15 more online than going in person. I understand that ordering online does cost more but the price of a whole meal is just ridiculous. Thankfully the restaurant did redo our order, gave us guacamole that didn't look days old and gave us tres leches that wasn't completely melted in the bag. The first thing I would recommend doing is to drop the website they use and work on the quality of the meals. Well, I've read everything else two stars. Last night I had a combo from Toro Birria. Everything was great, along with their free extra hot fresh made salsas. Try getting those anywhere else! But the Chile Relleno was one of the BEST THINGS i HAVE TRIED IN MY LIFE!. Gourmet, stringy cheese, plenty, on top of a mild pepper stuffed with chicken, in a tomato sauce with onions and I have no idea what else. Too good to be true. So many things are the best here. It doesn't get better. Family owned--great, and kind service. Very nice and chill ambiance. But the food has so much flavor, they could get put in jail for it. hehe. Tuesday night, go figure...was craving tacos. Toro Birria came up on my search. Most reviews were good except one, that said food had "no flavor." Was sitting in the parking lot when I read that last review and was very hesitant to go in. At 5:30pm very few cars in the parking lot, didn't help. Started a new search for tacos and decided to stay right where I was at and give Toro Birria a try. Very pleased to report that there were no regrets or 'self talk' that I should have known better. Toro Birria was spot on. I got my steak street tacos and my guy had a chicken bowl. Both very fresh and flavorful. Please ignore the Yelp reviewer that wrote food was lacking flavor...thinking it could have been written by a competitor. Cast any doubts aside and give this place a try and support a new small business. Service is good and they are so willing to please. Great dinner. read more
