We've been here 3-4 times and it is in the cutest house. The wait staff are super friendly. The inside has minimal decorations and lets the house speak for itself. Always clean inside. The food is good, nothing amazing, but good. I believe La Chev is a good experience restaurant with good basic French food. You would need to hon to downtown Charleston for great French food.

Our server Amanda was very nice and made my birthday special! She was really sweet and explained the menu very well and recommended great food that we liked. We were seated upstairs and it was an intimate vibe. Perfect for our group of 5. We ordered a bunch of small plates that were perfect for sharing. My favorite was the Coquille which had the scallops and bacon. It had a strong garlic taste which I liked. The meatballs were delicious and had lamb on it. The strawberry martini was delicious and wasn't sweet at all! I highly recommend trying this place and getting a reservation upstairs if you're a group of 4 or more. The patio space was really nice too and perfect for summer and drinking. Definitely check the weather first before sitting out there.

Everything was amazing food wise, except the French bread pizza. It was really basic and a waste of money. The shrimp and grits were excellent, it would be hard for me to order anything else because I'll be craving them. My husband's steak was perfectly cooked and the potato's were amazing, another thing I'll definitely be craving. Only downside is mosquitos if your sitting outside, definitely were bug spray as it isn't enclosed. There was also live music on a Thursday which was great for date night!

Visited La Chev 208 for a friend's birthday and had a great experience. Despite our large group, the staff was attentive and accommodating. The cocktails were delicious, the upstairs seating was cozy and intimate, and parking was easy. As someone who rarely eats seafood, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the salmon was. Looking forward to coming back!

I always love coming here! I had a little dinner with my girls for my birthday and it was just the best experience. There were seven of us so we were sat at a table upstairs in a private room. It was cozy and we were able to shut the sliding door to give a little more privacy as well. Our server was very attentive and was able to answer all of our questions about the menu and the restaurant. We got a variety of apps and entrees and everything came out quickly and correct. I highly recommend this spot for parties!

That grilled cheese and basil tomato soup is just so good -- it never misses. The drinks are always on point, the vibe is great, and the staff is super friendly. And don't skip dessert -- the crème brûlée is a must-try. Perfectly done and such a great way to finish a meal. Such a solid lunch spot. Can't wait to go back again!

A beautiful spot to enjoy lunch after shopping at the market. Enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious lunch in a beautiful little spot... and service is great! This last visit we enjoyed meeting and chatting the owners! Fun folks, you just want to ask them to pull up a chair. Goals? I need to head there for dinner because I am craving a good, warm beef bourguignon!

La Chev 208 is an absolute gem tucked into downtown Summerville. The moment you walk up, you can feel the charm--they've transformed a historic house into a warm, inviting restaurant that's perfect for a cozy dinner or a celebratory night out. From the start, our server Anna was wonderful. She was genuinely sweet, walked us through the menu, and pointed out some great recommendations. Her guidance set the tone for the evening almost as much as the cocktails did--and those were fantastic. Our drinks kicked things off beautifully and set the mood for what turned into a truly memorable meal. We shared several small plates to begin: the Pomme Frites, Coquille St. Jacque, and French Onion Meatballs. Every single dish was delicious. With four of us at the table, we asked how many meatballs we'd get--normally three. In true classy fashion, they surprised us by bringing four so everyone had one. And wow... they were outstanding. The Coquille St. Jacque was rich, indulgent, and loaded with scallops. And the Pomme Frites? If you know, you know--they were perfect. For entrées, we tried the Bouillabaisse, Salmon, Crab Cake, and the Bone-In Pork Chop. The Bouillabaisse was bursting with seafood and seasoned beautifully. The Salmon was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Anna had suggested the Crab Cake, and she did not steer us wrong--another hit. The Pork Chop was one of the standouts of the night: perfectly cooked, served over mashed sweet potatoes with collard greens that hit every note just right. We were sure dessert was impossible after all that... but since we were celebrating a birthday, the kitchen surprised us with an Apple Crisp. And holy cow--it was phenomenal. Warm, comforting, and the perfect finish to an already incredible evening. If you haven't been to La Chev 208, go. And if you went right after their reopening and felt it wasn't quite there yet--go again. The team has hit their stride, the food is exceptional, and the beautiful outdoor space in the back is worth the visit on its own. You won't be disappointed

I've lived in Summerville for almost two years and am late to finding out about La Chev 208 but so glad that I did! I went on a Sunday night with a reservation for inside. The atmosphere is warm and cozy inside & I liked that you can see the kitchen from the downstairs dining room. I started the meal with a French kiss martini and it was a bit too strong for my liking, but otherwise smooth. We ordered the French onion meatballs that packed so much flavor! My hubby got the lobster bisque and loved it. For dinner my hubby got the braised short ribs and I go the duck cassoulet. I absolutely loved the risotto that came with the braised short ribs. The duck cassoulet was not too rich or gamey and had great flavor! I ended our dinner with an espresso martini after our waitress Rebekah said she makes a really good one. She didn't lie! I think this was the best espresso martini I've had so far in Charleston, and I've tried many! It also came with golden glitter beans that made me so happy! I will definitely be back!

We had an overall great experience at La Chev in Summerville. It's described as a French restaurant, and the atmosphere definitely reflects that--beautiful, intimate, and on the smaller side downstairs. They do have an upstairs as well, though we didn't get to see it. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and made the evening feel relaxed. We started with a glass of wine and a few appetizers to share. The Lobster Bisque was the one letdown of the night--it tasted overwhelmingly like corn, and everyone in our group agreed. But the Duck Dumplings, French Onion Meatballs, and Provençal Mussels were all delicious. The menu felt unique, which made it fun to order different small plates and try everything together. Since we weren't too hungry, we split one entrée: the Coquille St. Jacque (Scallops). The scallops were cooked perfectly, and although the dish was very rich, it was still enjoyable. For dessert, the Crème Brûlée was fantastic--and they offer a free dessert on your birthday, which is a nice touch. Price-wise, it wasn't bad at all. For three people and all that food, the total was around $200 before tip, which felt reasonable considering the quality and amount we ordered. We didn't bring Luna this time, but they do have a full outdoor patio where pets are welcome. A great option for next time!

Fantastic service, fantastic appetizers, fantastic enter's and fantastic dessert. Everything was wonderful. We will be back.

    208 breakfast plate

La chev has a welcoming and well decorated environment. The service was incredible and quick but not rushed. I went for brunch and got a classic coffee, 208 breakfast plate and buttermilk beignets. The duck fat fries are cooked to perfection and so tasty! I also loved the beignets for a sweet treat.

    Amazing.

We've been here four times by now before writing this review and overall not really recommended considering the top notch restaurants popping up in the downtown Summerville area. While I will say the shrimp and grits are top notch, everything else falls really short. The duck dumplings, waffles (for chicken and waffles), and French bread pizzas were subpar. Almost seems not made in house, either frozen or sourced from a non-local vendor (spoken mass produced and price is not proportional to quality). They did, however, do a really nice job with the renovation and the wine selection is nice. Overall for French I would skip this place and go to Kersey house (duck there is phenomenal). However, I wish them luck in their future endeavor and hope they make some changes in the kitchen staff to help this place propel to the top.

The drinks are priced on the higher end, but the relaxed, comfortable atmosphere makes it feel approachable. We also love that they offer seasonal and holiday cocktails, which is right up our alley. We brought Luna along and sat on the patio, which was a nice option. I would love to see heaters added outside to make the patio more comfortable on cooler nights. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I ordered the Fireside Chat (served warm), made with Four Roses Bourbon, Croft Tawny Port, apple cider, orange juice, grenadine, turbinado sugar, allspice, and clove ($15). I really enjoyed the flavor profile--warm, well-balanced, and perfect for the season. That said, I was a little disappointed that my second drink wasn't garnished nearly as nicely as the first, especially given the price. Flavor-wise, though, both were very good. My husband started with the Gingersnap, which includes Monkey Shoulder blended Scotch whisky, Disaronno almond liqueur, butterscotch liqueur, spiced ginger syrup, heavy cream, Angostura bitters, cookie rim, and nutmeg ($16). He enjoyed it but felt it was definitely a one-drink cocktail due to how sweet, creamy, and heavy it was. He also ordered the Smoked Maple-Bacon Old Fashioned with bacon fat-washed bourbon, spiced maple syrup, tobacco bitters, and a salted brown sugar rim ($16). This one was a miss for him--too sweet, with the maple and smoke overpowering the drink, and not much bacon flavor coming through. That said, the presentation was excellent; watching the smoke being lit was a highlight, and I even grabbed a video of it. Our total came to about $71 before tip, and we didn't order any food, so it's definitely on the pricier side. Still, for the ambiance, creative cocktails, and overall experience, I think it's worth it--especially for a relaxed night out with a more elevated feel.

That said, not everything missed the mark. My coworkers ordered the chicken salad, chicken wrap with sweet potato fries , blackened chicken pasta, and bruschetta, and all of those dishes were absolutely delicious and well prepared. I would change the name because the name suggests they have oysters only and it turns out there is more, not a whole lot but enough for a non oysterholic to come in and have something to eat while you chug an ale or one of the shots with a slimy thing in it I got to try a shot of something that tasted like bloody Mary's mix with an oyster inside, I felt the slimy thing going down the hatch and later ordered a dozen or so oysters Parmesan, cooked taste a little like scallops, not bad and I could go back and try something else The calamari was ok, not as great as I can make them if I had a fryer with a thermostat, the batter was a little too thick and I tend to like them with a see through batter not a filler, it was crunchy ok but maybe a little overcooked and not a lot of people know that calamari should be flash fried for about a minute and if you go beyond that is like the Michelin man The place is fun and be prepared for a loud environment because it is small but go with an open mind and it is a nice different experience I will go back and try their fish and chips

My go-to favorites are the blackened mahi tacos, fresh oysters, mac and cheese bites, shrimp po' boy, and the chicken wings. Everything is always flavorful and well done, and the oyster shooters are a must. I love sitting outside when I can, and the atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and welcoming. The staff is always friendly, and it's just an easy place to enjoy good food and good vibes. Consistently solid and always a good experience. Five stars every time.

I have difficulty with steps but there were enough railings to make it navigable for me. The building was likely to have at one time been a small house. There were six of us in our party and we were initially told we would be sharing one bill and the gratuity would be automatically added. A couple of our folks expressed concern and intentionally ordered cheaper items and no drinks to make sure they had adequate funds to split the bill. Fortunately our waitress, who was a joy, did individual bills and did not put on an automatic gratuity. The policy had the potential to seriously reduce the restaurant's income. They should probably rethink this stance. As noted, our waitress was terrific and rapidly got drink and food orders sorted. The menu is pretty short, but probably a good choice for a small pub type restaurant. My wife and I both selected an on-tap local brew, both of which were good and reasonably priced. We both also selected the fish and chips. The order came with a side of cole slaw that was pleasant. The chips were obviously made on site and both properly cooked and well seasoned. We are always surprised at restaurants that serve obviously bagged and frozen fries. The fish itself was reasonably sized and nicely fried. Quite tasty, but we sort of expected good seafood as this is a sister restaurant to a local seafood establishment. For the price the portion sizes of all the meals at the table seemed just a bit small. So we will quite likely return. It's not fancy. It's not high end dining. It's a tad pricey for pub food, but overall pretty good. I note here that had our waitress not been a gem or had they enforced the one check policy, this review would have been a good deal more negative. I suspect they have an accessible entrance but it was not obvious. That may be a consideration for some and checking ahead of time would be prudent.

She asked for it to be plain, and it came out all the way. We asked for the item to be taken off of our bill, since it came out wrong, and it wasn't communicated that it would be safe, and the owner refused, did not apologize, and was very arrogant about it. Definitely not the waitress's fault. The owner's attitude was unacceptable. There was also a bug at our table that landed on both of us. To be clear, the attitude of the owner is the reason we will not be back.

The appetizers were very good although I didn't grasp the concept behind sweet calamari it was cooked perfectly and tender, the escargot were buttery and delicious. I had the chicken with the cognac sauce. (I know not very exciting) but I've been in the mood for a roasted piece of chicken for a little bit...and not only was the chicken expertly prepared and cooked but it tasted amazing, seasoned perfectly. The gnocchi and asparagus that accompanied it were delicious as well. It was single-handedly one of the best chicken dishes I've had. My wife had the fillet mignon with the fig demi, potato gratin and it again was completely spot on for tenderness, seasoning and flavor. It was delicious as well. My 4 year old basically demanded we get the chocolate cake for dessert and they said it was delicious. It definitely was large enough to shared with 3 or 4 people if you wanted a few tastes. The house is really exquisite inside and you can tell great care was taken in renovations. All in all it was a great dining experience and we are so glad we tried Kersey House, we will definitely be back!

You're at the mercy of the chef and whatever he feels like making that day. We had a wonderful time. Our server/bartender was wonderful and the food was so yummy! Being a surprise, it made me a little nervous, but even if it was something I would never order for myself, everything was still delicious! We stopped in another evening for a regular dinner service. Our server was great, very attentive, and the food was so good. Definitely a good experience and a little "nicer" dinner than many of the chains in Summerville. You can be casual, but the atmosphere is a step above that. It's also a beautifully done building that serves as an event venue, as well.
