We have had 2 wonderful dining experiences at Jackrabbit Filly, and sorry that it took so long to get here. The inside atmosphere is very lively, with lots of seating options. They have a large bar, a few bar tables, and lots of tables in 2 rooms. The service here is so friendly, from the greet at the door to the servers who took our order and delivered our different foods, they were always so positive and seemed to like working here. The food here is one that does change at times. Check out their menu online to be ready, and you do have to order all at once. They have a nice cocktail menu so be sure to check that out. We enjoyed a multitude of dishes on each visit, making sure to try different things on each visit. A few favorites we have enjoyed include the crab omelette, shrimp wontons, and the karaage chicken is a must order. We were blown away with the karaage chicken, it was tender, juicy, and the crunch was perfect. I also ordered the Sichuan hot karaage chicken and the spice level was just right. It is great having Jackrabbit Filly in Park Circle, it adds so much to the neighborhood and should be on everyone's list to visit. We will be back and recommend it to all. read more

This is my second time at Jack Ribbit Philly, but the first time at their new location. I am not from the area, but when I am in town visiting family, I like to venture around and try new restaurants. My sister comes here almost all the time and gets that exact bowl that I ordered and she told me to order it and it was absolutely amazing. The dumplings were also exceptional. The dipping sauce that they had with them was very good.. I cannot remember what the drinks were called that I had but I had one that was made and then I had one of their frozen drinks and it wasn't too sweet. It wasn't one of those gross ones that you usually come across it was actually a good cocktail.. One of the bartenders was a little aloof we kind of sat there quite a while, waiting for him to refill our empty drinks for about 25 minutes, but other than that, everything was great and if you get a chance, check out the bathrooms, they are wild... in a good way. I would give this place 5 stars, but I'm giving it 4 because the bartender was not attentive. read more

Finally made it to Jackrabbit Filly! Their lunch and dinner menu are slightly different - I decided to stop in for lunch since the menu leans to be individual portions rather than sharing plates. Let me tell you, the lunch portion was still big enough to share! I ordered the scallion pancake which was fragrant, flakey and the sauce was salty. Not bad. I like places like this with lowkey casual vibes and a unique menu built for sharing. My husband and I sat at the bar for dinner. We ordered the following: pierogi, fried rice and Sichuan hot karaage (fried chicken). Being a Polish girl, I can confirm these are not authentic pierogi and they tasted more like a dumpling/ravioli to me, however they were still delicious and I would order them again! The chicken was fried nicely and had a good level of spice, which I appreciated. The rice was pretty good for the most part but also tasted like something was missing. This one has been in my Yelp Collection Bucket List for a while. Finally got here in a Thursday for lunch. Parking was tough but I found a spot maybe 2-3 minute walk away. Not bad. Walked in and was greeted immediately by the Hostess. She was so flippin friendly. Sat at a booth at the bar. Server was there quickly and friendly. They have a team approach to the table service. Asian food traditionalists will think I'm blasphemous for saying this, but I liked the food at Jackrabbit Filly. All the dishes we ordered, from the miso soup and pierogis with salsa macha, to the karaage-don and peanut noodles, were savory and satisfying to eat. The texture and appearance of the chicken for the karaage-don bore more of a resemblance to General Tso's chicken with its battered and crunchy exterior, and it didn't quite have the tender and juicy interior I was hoping for, but I enjoyed the lemon mayo pairing which resulted in a flavorful finish. The Peanut Noodles reminded me of certain iterations of Dan Dan Noodles and certainly tasted fine on its own, but adding the thick chunks of bacon/pork belly was essential in elevating this dish to the next level. The restaurant was very lively on a Thursday afternoon, and the staff very warm and inviting throughout our meal. My drink hit the mark for me, and I found the cocktail menu fun and creative. In fact, I would say "fun and creative" summed up our overall experience at Jackrabbit Filly. Quite an unusual menu and atmosphere I love trying new dishes and not the same thing you can get anywhere. The service was fantastic and the employees very friendly and helpful. As out of town guests from Florida who happen to enjoy Asian-forward food, we were excited to try Jackrabbit Filly, especially since learning about the Top Chef finalist, co-owner and excutive chef, Shuai Wang. We perused the website, menu, reviews, etc. before arriving for our reservation with our party of 4. We were seated and the service was very decent. Our server explained the concept, etc. Our party ordered about 7 dishes in total. Personally, I'm not a fan of dishes coming out one at a time as they are prepared. I felt like we waited a long time between the dishes. This may have been because the restaurant was packed and busy. In fact, it was so busy, and music was playing, which made it hard for me to hear the people speaking at our own table. If you're interested in enjoying good conversation, maybe come at a less busy time, like when the restaurant first opens. We ordered the "world famous" corn bread which was delivered in a cast iron skillet and is definitely worth ordering. Very good! We also ordered the Sichuan Hot Karaage, pork dumplings, sinigang greens, vegetable stir fry, fried rice and dan dan noodles. Our favorites were the cornbread and pork dumplings. The dan dan noodles were tasty too. In our opinion, the fried rice was super oily, the sinigang greens dish was overwhelmed by the fish sauce and was not a very balanced dish. In addition, the greens were not as tender as we would have liked, nor were they cut....basically whole leaves which gave us such a chewy mouth feel. Mocktails were refreshing. We ordered the "I'm chill. I'm chill as a cucumber" which was a house made salted cucumber and lime soda. Staff were great The vibe was electric and the decor intimate & cozy but casual. However, my four star rating is based on the dishes... They just didn't do it for me.. I felt that they all had the same seasoning.. the vermicelli was different in that it had an aroma of gas... weird. The tempura mushrooms.. felt like the dregs from the fryer... no mushrooms.. The chicken portions in the Karaage was just too big. My friends and I enjoyed a tasty dinner here on a bustling Saturday night. For a group of 4, the waiter recommended 6-8 dishes which was just the right amount. We started with the Vaya Con Dios frozies, which was dangerously tasty and reminiscent of an Asian twist on a pina colada. We ordered the corn bread, which was a great mix between southern style corn bread with spring onion butter, gouda, and honey. The size was slightly larger than an Eggo waffle and was a good portion between 4 people. The karaage was also tasty, with huge chicken portions and a sauce that included lemon mayonnaise and a tasty soy-sauce mix. Not to be outdone, the pork dumplings were a delicious mix of potato, leek, brown butter, and yuzu, and the market veggies were a bit tangy with dill, mint, and more. The fried rice and bucatini were yummy carb additions as well. This place is on the slightly nicer side with a gorgeous interior ambiance, and as a bonus had plenty of vegetarian dishes as well. How have I not eaten at JF before?! I feel like I have been missing out. I visited on a Saturday for lunch and sat at the bar. The whole place feels quaint and local, yet refined and classy. First off I love that it's a full service bar and eating at the bar is no problem. Second I absolutely love they sell pitchers of beer. Not many taps, but still pitchers. And it's mostly local beer. I was with my husband and we wanted to try several things and took recs from the bartender who was awesome. We ordered the pork dumplings, the scallion pancake and the spicy sichuan hot karaage rice bowl. And we made it a combo with miso soup and an egg roll for $4. The pork dumplings were SO good. I could eat a meal of those alone. They were dense and flavorful and the dipping sauce was slightly spicy. The scallion pancake was a surprise delight. It was crispy and not too greasy again with a delicious dipping sauce. The miso soup...chefs kiss. It looked like ordinary miso soup but there was something extra that we really loved!! And the egg roll was big and juicy and fried and wonderful. It's a veggie egg roll but don't let that fool you. So much flavor and again the sweet chili dipping sauce left us drooling. Most of those sauces are too sweet but this was the perfect blend and the perfect spice level. The rice bowl was full of flavor!! The spice on this is quite a lot so make sure you can handle heat if you order the "hot" version. But again lots of flavor not just hot. Garlicky Cucumbers: Just okay, but I wouldn't order them again. A miss for me. Beef Dumplings: Best thing we had, would honestly go back just for these. Shrimp Wonton Soup: The dumplings were solid, but the broth leaned too vinegar-forward for my taste. Shepherd's Pie: Good flavor, but zero pork. It was basically greens... and more greens. Decided to finally check out the much raved jackrabbit filly for my fiancés belated birthday dinner after hearing so many people recommend the place! Although the ambiance and food itself was good, we were seated by a VERY loud party of over 8 people making it very hard for me to listen to my fiancé and I's conversation. Coming from a very Asian dense neighborhood in Boston, I found myself saying I had enjoyed more the food from back home at hole in the wall mom and pop restaurants than my dining experience here. They have a 1.5 hour limit. We went for dinner and got there early to see if we could be seated early (we were already in the area). They said they would have to see and had us wait (which since we were early- I understood- but the dining areas were empty). Waiter was kind. Recommended sharing 3-4 plates for 2 people. We got: Food -Garlicky Cucumbers -Karage -Pork Dumpling -Pineapple fried rice -and had some leftovers from the pineapple fried rice. Our favorites were the cucumbers and karage. My son and his girlfriend moved to Charleston and this was high on my list of places to go on my first visit after watching Top Chef! The atmosphere was great and everyone was super friendly! We started with espresso martinis and they were delicious. Our waitress walked us through the menu, which was very helpful. Our favorites were shrimp wontons, karaage chicken and the pork dumplings. Went to dinner this evening expecting a great experience. Let's start with the server. He spoke so fast to explain the menu that we didn't understand what he was saying. Almost like we were a bother to him. We navigated the menu on our own and ordered the spicy fried chicken and mixed veggies with shrimp. Sounds good, right? The food comes out and it looks good then this is where it goes down hill. They have chop sticks and give you a fork with a request so with being said the chicken pieces were way too big for sticks and with a fork to messy as the chicken was to tough to cut you had to bite it off the fork.... The veggies had no taste and the shrimp were bland..... We were able to stomach 1/2 off the food before we asked for the check. Could have had a much better meal elsewhere for the cost of this meal. Restaurant has a vibe, it's cool. Bathrooms were a party! We got four apps and three mains to split between 3 adults and a young child. Apps: scallion pancake, crab Rangoon dip, pork dumplings and shrimp dumplings. I'd rank them in that order. Entrees were Peanut Noodles with Sichuan Pork, hot chicken karaage and the special for the day which was a chicken tender wrap. Everything was good other than than the wrap, which was uninspired. I came here with high expectations and I don't think it lived up to those. Was fine but not anything I ever need to go back to. We heard about this place from some friends and had to check it out when we were back in town; and I'm so glad we did! We booked our reservations as soon as they were available and were promptly seated upon arrival. Our server quickly greeted us and was attentive throughout the meal. The inside is Asian inspired with wood touches and a loud atmosphere. It makes you feel like you're at a family function enjoying dinner with friends. Their menu is served family style for all their items and since it was 6 of us; we tried a lot of them. I won't go through each one but my favorite items were: Both chicken Karaages. The original is more lemon forward and the hot isn't too spicy but lets the heat notes come through. The sauces on both were amazing. Pineapple Fried Rice. Truly flavorful and well worth the hype. The pineapple with the shrimp and ham bits married well together and was a table favorite. Crunchy Salad. This is my new favorite salad in the area. I walked into Jackrabbit Filly honestly not knowing it was Chinese fusion. Normally that would've been a pass for me. Growing up, I ate a lot of Chinese food, so when I travel I usually try to go in a completely different direction. I just wasn't in the mood for something that felt familiar or repetitive. This ended up being the complete opposite of what I expected. There's something different about how they approach the food here. It's not trying too hard to reinvent anything, but it also doesn't feel like standard Chinese takeout or even typical restaurant versions. It felt like they took the foundation I'm used to and just elevated or deviated it in a way that made me actually pay attention to each dish. The tempura mushrooms were the first thing that hit. Super crispy, light, and packed with flavor without feeling greasy. Seriously, i dont recall seeing greasy fingers! I didn't expect mushrooms to be one of the highlights, but they absolutely were. The pork dumplings were solid and did exactly what they needed to do. Good texture, good flavor, nothing overly complicated. Then the Sichuan Hot Karaage came out and that's where things shifted a bit. It's basically fried chicken, but with a real Sichuan style heat that actually comes through. Not just spicy for the sake of it, but layered with flavor. You can tell they put thought into balancing it instead of just throwing heat on top. The garlic fried rice was the dish that surprised me the most. Fried rice is something I've had countless times growing up, so I wasn't expecting much. Somehow, it ended up being my favorite. It had that deep garlic flavor without being overpowering, and everything about it just worked. It's one of those dishes you keep going back to without even thinking about it. Overall, this was one of those meals where I came in with low expectations and left actually impressed. We recently went to dinner Jackrabbit Filly and, food-wise, it truly delivered. We had the tuna tartare, bread service, pork wontons, karaage chicken, Sichuan potatoes, corn fritters, and charred cabbage -- and everything was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The tuna tartar and karaage chicken were especially standout dishes, and the corn fritters were amazing. However, the service left a lot to be desired -- and that matters just as much as the food, especially when allergies are involved. My son has a severe tree nut allergy, and when we asked our server what nuts were in the carrot dish (since he can have peanuts), she didn't know. She then said "tree nuts," but when pressed for specifics, she listed pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds, which aren't nuts at all. That level of confusion is unacceptable when someone's life could be on the line. The menu simply marks dishes with an "N" for nuts, which is far too vague for diners with allergies. It needs to specify what kind of nut, not just toss a blanket label on it. To make matters worse, the server seemed visibly annoyed that we were asking. That kind of attitude is unacceptable in any restaurant, let alone one with a strong reputation. On top of that, the place is extremely loud to the point where conversation was difficult. In short: the food is creative and delicious, but the service and allergy awareness need serious improvement. Until they handle that more responsibly, it's hard to recommend for anyone with dietary restrictions or food allergies. read more
