I have encountered peeps on the other side of town with Toro Toro takeout! Keep in mind the #Six is no small town. Just be ready for a long wait, though you can wait at Vaughan Mills mall. It isn't an average sushi stop; it's a creative takeout destination instead. I kicked myself for not trying their sushi box set at the grand opening; that was presented like an impeccable bed of flowers. Poké bowls are refreshing with mango, kamaboko, ponzu / lemon garlic aioli, and good proteins such as lobster, shrimp or seared salmon. Sushi burritos are similar tho nothing to write home about. Something a little fancier? Kirin Futomaki roll with crispy yam strings is eye-catching, though it could be crispier. Some other intricate rolls even have 24k flakes. A trio of sushi tacos in crunchy shells is quite bold with seasoned fish & jalapeño on top. Small umami bites. How about truffle yam fries? Why, yes please! Their packagings are pristine, with a red seal of freshness as an aesthetic touch. Due to Toro Toro's popularity, I've only picked up by ordering ahead on Uber Eats. I preferred this method after many folks complained about hour long waits for their call-in orders. However recently they have closed peak hour app use while business booms. New sushi hot spot in Vaughan that popped up during the pandemic! Located just outside Vaughan Mills Mall, Toro Toro mainly does takeouts, and now has the option to dine-in. Order from the counter, and get the food when they call out your order number. There is no table service, so you do need to throw your own garage out when you're done. Food will still be served to you in their signature black takeout boxes, and they will provide paper plates for dine in. We ordered the Kirin Futomaki, The Forbidden, Salmon Tacos, Aburi Syake Oshi for dine in, and 2 sushi burritos to go. Quality and presentation are on point. I've tried multiple times... I ordered: lobster tower, hidden dragon,aburi unagi, aburi Syake and salmon tacos. Each and everyone of these were really good and they looked amazingly presented. I've been craving sushi forever since the pandemic started and this is the first time that I've been able to resolve said craving. I drove by and ordered to go. There was a long wait to order even though there was only one other patron inside. The food is made in what looked like a well-oiled assembly line of employees. Business was booming for a Saturday before noon. I ordered a poke bowl and a roll. However, the employee misheard me and I ended up with two poke bowls. I recommend ordering either over the phone or online to avoid ordering/receiving the wrong items. I ended up receiving a classic poke bowl with salmon and tuna, which is what I ordered, and a karaage poke bowl, which I didn't order. I ended up eating one for lunch and one for dinner. The poke bowls are quite large and filling. I wasn't hungry until dinner time the following day. I enjoyed the classic poke bowl. It was spicy, citrusy, and savory. I enjoyed the various textures, from the rice, to the seaweed, to the fish and the crunchy wontons. My mouth is watering just writing about it. It was well worth the price. I left the karaage poke bowl out for dinner, so the steam condensed inside the bowl. I should have left the lid open. Overall, I enjoyed this one too. The chicken was crispy on the outside, but tender on the inside. Like the classic poke bowl, this one was also citrusy and spicy, but not as spicy as the classic. The seating is limited, so come early if you are coming on a weekend. I went with my girlfriend and we tried the platter for 2. The portion size is huge! It can easily feed 3-4 people. The variety is great and you get a taste of all the different options they have. A great way is to get the platter, taste a bunch of them, and then later on order your favorites in your future visits. Also, special shoutout to their Miso soup. It's like $2 CAD only! Super good! This place gives you reasonably priced, upscale sushi in the suburbs!! A friend recommended this place a little while ago and I couldn't get it out of my head so we took a trip to Vaughan to check it out! The restaurant is small but bustling! There's a long bar of sushi makers rolling, pressing and torching rolls, it's like Santa's workshop for sushi! It's more of a takeout place but they do have tables for you to dine in. I'm not sure there's table service, I assume you order and pickup at the counter and then take a seat and dig in. We opted to take ours home. The menu is not huge like a regular sushi restaurant. They specialize in the unique rolls, they do have nigiri and hosomaki as well for the less adventurous. You won't find bento boxes or preset sushi platters here. We ordered a bunch of rolls from the maki and Aburi sections and they were all good but some were definitely standouts. All of the Aburi rolls we tried were so good! We had the salmon, unagi and butterfish Aburi and they were among the favorite of the night. We also got the hidden dragon, crouching tiger, emperor and the fantasy. For three people it came to around $85 and it was plenty, we even had a small bit leftover. The packaging is really appealing, I appreciate that they're not using the regular black plastic containers but rather cardboard boxes which look nice and can actually be recycled! The rolls themselves are beautifully presented, each one with different sauces and accompaniments, I enjoyed the different flavour and texture combinations each roll brought. The fish all tasted fresh and the veggies crisp. Sushi rice was cooked and seasoned nicely without being overly sweet or vinegary. The prices are around $10-$13 per roll, some are a bit more, our most expensive roll had truffle oil and sautéed mushrooms so it was priced fairly. Compared to similar rolls at other restaurants, it's quite affordable. The girl working there was fine, nothing special going on with the service but our order took less time than they quoted and everything was perfect so overall the service was efficient and accurate. Awesome spot in Vaughan serving cool and unique sushi at a reasonable price. My husband and I agree that we can't go back to regular rolls and this will likely become our new go-to when we're craving sushi rolls. read more

Finally made my way to the famous Toro Toro sushi spot in Vaughan. Located just by Vaughan mills mall. Please Note: they do not currently offer dine-in seating. I did a walk-in order and I instantly loved how welcoming and inviting the ambience was. Upon placing my order, the staff was really friendly, and when I asked how long the wait would be they politely asked the chef right in front of me and it was no more than 15mins! But I highly recommend ordering online through their website or even by phone! Depending on the time of day they can be quite busy. We ordered: - Lobster Tacos (4/5): sadly I didn't take a photo, however the quality of lobster was high and you can instantly tell it what fresh! It has a nice crunch to it with the hard shell! They really do stuff the taco with as much lobster as they can. Only downfall is these tacos are relatively smaller than the usual. - The Fantasy Roll (5/5): I really loved every aspect of this role as it had a kick to it and great savoury flavour. - Aburi Butterfish Oshi (3/5): I'm personally not a fan of butterfish so I may be a little biased, but I like how the bottom isn't just rice and they put the effort to fill it with shrimp - Aburi Syake Oshi (4/5): can never go wrong with a salmon and shrimp combo! - Tataki Maki Roll (5/5): seared tuna is always delicious, they perfected the flavouring! Let me preface the review with the fact that I really wanted my favourite Project Fish, but it seems to be permanently closed. :( It's just a different experience - Toro Toro is bustling with less ambience but it is also less expensive. I liked being able to order online. We got takeout. We got four things: The Fantasy The Emperor Aburi Shake Oshi Aburi Hamachi Oshi The aburi oshi was a good price and tasty. A nice treat to have yellowtail. These were super sized - two bites worth and easily came apart. The Fantasy was my favourite with scallop and teeny crispy deep fried yams and overall a smoky flavour. The Emperor was good, but perhaps an issue of personal taste. I ordered a Crouching Tiger roll ($10) (which features seared salmon, shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, Japanese mayo, teriyaki sauce, chipotle aioli, & hot sauce) and the Kirin Futomaki ($8) - containing cooked shrimp, cucumber, fried nori, crispy yam strings, togarashi, tobiko, sesame seeds, spicy mayo, Japanese mayo, teriyaki sauce. The staff were friendly and helped to suggest different rolls that could be made without avocado for my avocado-averse hubby. Unfortunately when they made the roll, they neglected to leave out the avocado as had been discussed. The food was ready in about 10 minutes. While waiting it was fairly busy in the restaurant. There was a patron who came in without a mask. Although I know they were busy, as a fellow patron I would have appreciated if the staff had spoken to said patron to please mask up while placing his order. The food was packaged beautifully in sleek black cardboard boxes. Ample amounts of pickled ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi were provided with the order. Everything tasted very very fresh. There was a lovely balance of textures and flavours in all of the rolls, from the smokiness in the torched Forbidden and Crouching Tiger, to the crunchiness of the crispy yam strings in the Kirin Futomaki. I was super excited to visit Toro Toro after seeing tons of instagram posts of their luxury sushi takeout boxes. I ordered the Tasting Box for Two, which was a 30-minute wait but understandable with all the effort that goes into it. We dined-in as this location as it was a bit far from home, and my only concern was the lack of difference between dine-in seating and seating for pick-up orders. This location isn't large by any means, so it feels cramped quite easily with people waiting for orders. It's not the restaurants fault, but the seating set-up definitely affects the atmosphere. I saw the good reviews and wanted to try this shop for myself. When I walked in someone was leaving with takeout and someone was waiting for take out. They do have seating, but it seems that this spot does a lot of take out. When ordering the cashier was super helpful in accommodating and checking to make sure what I ordered was vegan.
