They have quite a few special roll options, though most were derivatives of California and Dynamic rolls. Tried the Lion King and Tataki Attack. Both were good with thin rice layers and relatively fresh seaweed wraps. I liked the Lion King better since it had more fillings. Chicken Karaage was so-so, more like pre-made chicken popcorn than authentic karaage. Shrimp Tempura was good - big shrimps wrapped in the thin, light and crispy batter. Service was great, the staff was very considerate - created a bigger space for us and added tea and napkins timely. Overall, a decent spot for sushi if you're in the area, but nothing that would make me drive across town. This is a small family owned restaurant in Vaughan that has about half dozen small tables and a small sushi bar that seats about 3 people. The service was beyond great and he was super friendly to us and responded quickly. We got a few rolls and the Oshi pressed sushi. We decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews. Our daughter loves sushi, so we wanted to squeeze in at least one sushi place on our trip. The restaurant is small with a vibe that's both casual and elegant. The sushi bar is located in the middle of the restaurant, with Sapporo beer cans lined up against the bar. The seating arrangements are minimal, but there is still plenty of room for everyone. Tables seating 2-4 people are propped up against the front of the restaurant and these tables all include a long booth. We ordered the following: Spicy chirashi don which is sushi rice on vegetable assorted fish with gochujang sauce. This was pretty good. I've been craving for chirashi don and glad I got to try it here. Tarantula aka spider rolls- soft shell crab, crab meat, cucumber, avocado/unagi and spicy mayo sauce. This was also pretty good. We've never had purple rice with spider rolls before, so this was a nice surprise. Sushi and sashimi combo (16 pieces)- 9 pieces of sashimi and 7 pieces of sushi. This was a cute presentation. They put the 9 pieces of sashimi in one bowl and the 7 pieces of sushi rolls on the board. This was pretty good, as well. They gave us 3 sesame balls as an appetizer. This was tasty and makes us wonder if this place is Chinese owned. Service was friendly and quick. We found out that they're closed the following week for renovations. So, I'm very glad that we got here before they closed! They asked if we were paying in cash and edited the receipt with a discount since we said we were paying in cash. Vaughan has suddenly become a locale with various sushi options. So it only makes sense that the "Kin" of sushi has arrived! Kin Sushi is a decent new addition with creative touch & Korean inspiration including use of gochujang & purple rice! I came for a visit to their cozy restaurant space that once was Teppan Cave. The menu has unique rolls, along with donburri, pressed sushi and fresh roll / sushi / sashimi platters. The Tarantula special roll caught my eye: 8 huge pieces consisting of soft shell crab, crabmeat, avocado, unagi & purple rice. It's even plated in a circular formation along with saucy rings to resemble the roll's name. For takeout, the roll still melded many of my favourite ingredients into tasty bites. Their Unagi Don is unlike the typical bowl offered elsewhere. It's well-presented with the grilled eel topped by beautiful condiments, and came with miso soup. Food tastes better when it's a feast for the eyes too! And we happily gobbled up this portion of the meal. Takoyaki, Gyoza and Spring Rolls are also top notch in terms of flavour & crispiness. It's easy to tell when care went into each dish. But the biggest winner for me was their Spicy Chirashi Don. It's no ordinary sashimi bowl because it comes with a cup of gochujang sauce to drizzle on top. A colourful heap of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, snapper, octopus with tamago & salad works so well on rice without being overwhelmed by the sweet & spicy sauce. It's no wonder someone else said this was the best donburri they ever had! Vaughan is actually Kin Sushi's second location, opened after the success of their flagship North York restaurant. We found this place on the internet and drove there found it quite difficult to locate as it's in the back corner of the entire plaza but I'm glad that we did stick with it and locate the restaurant because the food was top notch. I ordered the sushi and sashimi set and a Sapporo - my go-to. Pleasantly surprised by a beet ribbon garnish in the salad.
