Overpriced, bland Mexican food. Was super excited to try this place as everyone seems to speak super highly of it, but we did not have a good experience. You have to pay for chips and salsa, which, I mean, what?! I've never been to a Mexican establishment and had to pay for chips and salsa. $20 for a burrito? That's bland? We stopped in after church after hearing great things about it. The inside is a bit small but the outside is great. The ambiance out there definitely is casual and inviting. Encourages socializing and what not. We loved it for our small group of 9. There's giant jenga and connect 4. All of the food was amazing. Let's start with parking ... well it's downtown I got there at 6pm on a Wednesday parked in front however when I walked out 8pm looked crowded. The menus were at the table as people did mention its counter orders . Modern Mexican American feel ...good spanish dancing music , a nice long bar , the long wood tables are beautiful although they need to be rearranged because we were squeezing to get by in between tables , cute photo op angel wings by the restrooms ( single stall bathroom :( ) the outside is covered top huge with lots of table seating and cute floating lights for ambiance . Now for the food : The chips and guacamole =Bland The Baja shrimp taco with red cabbage and chipotle queso was good but single not worth $4.99 . The grilled steak taco with lettuce and shredded cheese was good but yea again not sure was worth it . I can't comment on the taste of the drinks but my friends at the table said they were delish and to me they looked very aesthetically pleasing . I love the people that work here. They have been incredibly kind whenever I have gone in. I don't love the format of their food/bar ordering. It feels like two separate parts and I wish I could order both food and alcoholic beverage in the same place, so it's probably more of a 4.5 star place in my opinion. I visited once at lunch with a friend on a Friday afternoon and again for dinner with my husband on a Saturday night. Both times the food was amazing. I had 3 different types of tacos, nachos with salsa and a guava dragon fruit margarita for the lunch. For the dinner I had the Chicken Rolls, my husband had the King Burrito and we each had a bunch of margaritas. The chicken rolls were SO good, chicken was tasty and seasoned well, the lettuce and pico on top was fresh and delicious. My husband also greatly enjoyed his burrito, it was basically a meat lovers burrito after all. My favorite margarita of the night was the April special - a pink bunny margarita and our second favorite one was the pineapple jalapeño - a little spicy but still perfectly sweet too. I also had a strawberry guava margarita and can't remember what the third one was because they were all going down so well! We sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive to us even though they were taking orders from all the people filing in for dinner, it got quite busy around 6pm. It was easy to find a park. They offer parking in the front & back. We ordered and received our food quickly. The restaurant was nice & clean. The staff was awesome. So friendly and helpful. We dined outside. They have fans as well. I selected the ACP made with chicken. That was the most seasoned ACP I've ever had. It was delicious. And the cucumber aqua... SO REFRESHING AND FLAVORFUL. Great food! We were a little confused as it was our first time here. You order and pay at the counter and get a number to set on your table, they bring your food to you, you are responsible for clearing your table. If you want alcohol you need to go to the bar and get it yourself. All fine, we just didn't know. We shared nachos, chicken wings and tacos. Super crispy and saucy wings, gooey queso on the nachos and flavorful, yet differently spiced tacos- the shrimp taco was phenomenal! The food (Chili Relleno Burrito) is pretty darn good, definitely worth the visit. The feel and ambiance is modern industrial with a touch of southwest color - the industrial feel is something I'm not a big fan of. It was the perfect amount of food for a filling meal. Each taco was so flavorful and delicious. The standout was the veggie taco. It was packed with roasted seasoned veggies and topped with guacamole. The veggies were cooked perfectly- tender but not mushy/overdone. I can't believe it took me so long to try this place. Nice looking place when you first walk in. Not super friendly by no means. Food was expensive. Food was very bland tasting and cold in the middle. We got a California Burrito and a King Roll and if they use seasonings, it's very hard to tell. We most likely won't be returning for a second try. There are many other Mexican places more reasonable and tastier than Toro's Taco. We wish it was otherwise, but the owners need to taste their own food before charging an arm and a leg for it. Place is terrible for timely service. Spent over 50$ on food and beer and wanted to charge me 2$ for Salsa for my prder of taco chips. Waited overe 20 minutes at Bar for drinks with almost no one at the bar. Appears orders for waitress is more important than patrons at the bar. Terrible customer service everytime I go in.
