It has been a long time since we have been here. Popped in on a recent Saturday afternoon at an off time so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Comfortable booth. Tasty chips and salsa. Great Server Gal. Loved her! Food came out hot. This is good, old-fashioned fill-you-up type Mexican food. But both of us felt a lack of seasoning. I ordered a chile relleno with a spinach enchilada. But my relleno was an open faced poblano with ground meat topped with a bit of cheese. In other words, it wasn't a true relleno. Not much to say about the beans/rice or enchilada either. All okay, especially when doused with the remaining salsa, but totally unmemorable. Meanwhile Husband was feeling the same way about his Steak Burrito. read more

I wish it had half stars I would do 3.5 but a 3 will do. My server was good and attentive and my tequila sunrise was actually good and strong. The enchilada supreme dinner was just ok. Felt like it was lacking some flavor. The chips and salsa was just ok as well. Salsa should of had some spice to it and the chips seemed a bit stale . The place is quite small and had a few people in it. Will probably go back just for drinks though ! read more

Food was good. We ordered a meal that came with Spanish rice and salad. This was our second time there. The first time I asked to substitute more rice for the salad and the waiter did it. This time the waiter said it would cost $1.50 extra to do that. I told him that was silly but he would not honor our wishes so I said that we just have it with the salad then. When it came there was extra rice on the main plate and a side plate of rice.. I figured they had come to their senses but when I got the bill we were charged extra for the rice. The waiter said he could change it but I just paid. My thoughts are if he could change it later he could have done it before. I paid the bill but said I would never return. The prices are high enough that they could accommodate the customer a little. Will just find another restaurant. read more

Wow, this place used to be our go-to spot 15 years ago. I moved out of the area & I was bummed to not be able to frequent this place... Tonight I happened to be on this side of town & thought why not? I was excited about the thought of their flavorful, genuine Mexican flavored food & cold drinks. Without going into too many details, I was very disappointed with the less than mediocre taste & over-the-top-pricing (for the quality) of the food. I guess the old saying, "some things are better left in the past..." may be spot on for this restaurant. Good bye & good luck folks; I guess the pandemic may have affected this place beyond its outer appearance & I hope they take this constructive criticism at face value & not as a personal attack on this family. We used to go to this restaurant a lot-we decided we would get take out for dinner tonight, so my husband called in our order & went to pick it up. My order was fine but his meal looked like slop! He ordered Carnitas-does this pic look like Carnitas to you? We have had Carnitas here before & it sure wasn't this sliced loaf of .... whatever this is. Very disappointing. If we didn't live in Wake Forest, we would return it & ask for our money back, but this will just have to be a loss. We will never go back. here again. read more

I had the shrimp quesadilla lunch and wasn't too happy. The bottom of my flour tortilla was soggy. The table chips were stale and we had to ask for fresh ones. I'm sad to rate a local business this low but we went today and it was a waste of money. Our server was very on top of attending our table and this review is not directed toward him. My boyfriend and I ordered two jumbo margaritas that were a bit too sweet and at the end we didn't catch a buzz on (we had empty stomachs too as this was an early lunch). Oh well, no big deal. We ordered off the lunch menu- which still wasn't the cheapest for lunch (there wasn't anything that caught our attention for less than 9.99). This would have been fine if the food was quality. We each ordered chicken quesadillas and when they came out the chicken was shredded- it had to have come from a can. At this price for the quantity, I expected grilled chicken. The menu did not explicitly say shredded or grilled- so perhaps assuming here is wrong. Ultimately I'd say this place is pretty tasteless and a rip off for the quality it lacks. read more

I really like this place and have visited about a dozen times. The food is not fancy or trendy at all but everything I've had has been delicious. One great thing is that they serve both breakfast and lunch specials until 2:30! My only less-than-excellent experience was when I ordered breakfast once. The restaurant is very lively and colorful. I normally don't comment on a setting, but as soon as you walk in the door, you can't help but notice the environment. I had eaten here before, when it was Los Tres Magueyes (sp?) and hadn't thought much of it. I revisited it recently and was pleasantly surprised. For a Mexican restaurant, they have a very large menu; there's a large variety of food to choose from. I, however, felt like going big or going home; I ordered the Burrito Cargo; an 18' monstrosity that stretches from your fingertip to your forearm. The food was good! I devoured every bite of my burrito, which was chicken, cheese, rice, beans, and chipotle peppers, covered in 3 salsas to the color of the Mexican flag and a queso. My dining companion got the Camarones Enchpotlado, and as the other reviewer stated, it was delicious. The portions are definitely excellent for their price. The service is also timely and excellent, and the manager is a real stand-up guy. I only have 2 real gripes: 1) is that you can find Mexican food of similar portions for a smaller price tag all around Raleigh. and 2) The salsa is very, very bland; it would benefit greatly from some spicing/seasoning. However, if you're REALLY hungry and don't mind opening your wallet, you're in for some delicious food! read more

This place is definitely worth a try! Better than most Spanish restaurants out there. Pricing is reasonable. Renovations were just done to the outside shopping center. Which, by the way, makes the restaurant look great! Service is fast, friendly, and courteous. I love to take my mom here! She gets posile (hominy soup) usually and I like to get rice and beans with whatever main dish sounds good to me at the time! We used to love this place until recently... I swear their salsa has ketchup in it. I even asked the waiter if in fact it did, and she said it did not. I guess I don't blame her. The spicy bean dip was so hot it shouldn't even be on the menu, and this is coming from someone who adds habanero hot sauce to everything. It was flavorless, way too spicy. The service is fine, never complain about that. We felt bad for complaining too much... not a good sign. Our last visit will be just that: our last. Too bad. read more

Terrible service and business. I ordered 10 tacos to go and they charged us for each al a carte. Over charged us by 20$ on a 45$ order. I even tipped them 5$ before I looked at my bill. We have been eating here almost every week since it opened and have never had a bad meal. When my daughter and her family comes to visit from Maryland, they won't leave without having a meal here. There will be 6 of us tonight. Everything is good but I am really hooked on their rice. Seems like a simple thing but many places just get it wrong. I love that it is family owned and operated and that they support community athletics. Family, I believe, is originally from Guadalajara. Authentic food at great prices. The portions are good and the food was hot and tasted great. Mexican food-in a nutshell- is pretty basic but this was good. Used to be a favorite restaurant off Falls of Neuse. No longer and won't go back. Ordered Mole Ranchero which was supposed to be a chicken breast in Mole sauce. What I got was a little shredded chicken in a whole lot of mole sauce, a lot of rice, 4 tortillas, and a small salad. All for $10.25 which not only made it overpriced, but made it taste like canned chicken stirred in with mole sauce and the consistency of glue. It's located in a dying shopping center and there's no longer the number of patrons there so they're making up for lost profits by lower quality. read more

All were expertly seasoned and the veggies and guac were fresh. The sauces were robust and the chips were crispy. I have nothing bad to say. So....decided to do something different for New Year's Eve. Extended family went out to Los Tres Vacqueros (yes, used an online coupon, which is typically an indicator of the quality as they have coupons ALL THE TIME). As others have mentioned, the owner/manager is less than pleased to see you when you arrive. Uh oh, should I have turned around at that time? Got there around 5:30p before the crowds started coming in. Waiter was less than pleasant and after we received our food, was uninterested in what we thought, quality, etc., etc., (and the funny part is, they give you a "tip scale" printed at the bottom of the receipt, "to help you"). Realized it was New Year's Eve, but you're there, sorry if you don't want to be there, but not my problem. Food quality/taste - meh. I've had much better (we decided on this place as it was a good meeting point for everyone). My mom had a grilled chicken quesadilla, overcooked and absolutely no taste. I had chicken enchiladas, and while okay, it was missing some flavor. They received 2 stars because the pitcher of peach frozen margarita's was great! Will we be back again? Nope.com. Make the trek to Las Margarita's at Six Forks and Sawmill. They have the best chicken enchiladas. read more
