There used to be a Tikila Tacos & Mezcal location in Knightdale that I enjoyed grabbing food from quite often. So when I found myself in Wake Forest, I decided to check out that location. I ordered my usual... Al Pastor bowl with everything on it and a Pineapple Jarritos. My food and the customer service were great. However, I noticed they don't provide chips and salsa for the table like the Knightdale location did. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I'll definitely return when I'm in the area. read more

The woven light fixtures add a touch of warmth and texture to the space definitely giving the Mexican hospitality vibes . The staff was very welcoming and the food came out fairly quick despite several people . We ordered a few different things Chicken Tacos , carne asada fries , pork tacos with pineapple and a chicken quesadilla . The tortillas unfortunately were dry and a little thick (that could just be the brand they use prob best to switch those up ) everything else was so delicious. There are 2 TV's for sports watching , a Bar and a good Spanish music mix that my kids enjoyed dancing to . There is a small bar inside and tables outside so plenty of room . Ugh, I hate to give this place 1 star. Last time we visited, my husband got food poisoning from their chorizo nachos. We didn't know at first if it was from Tikila or not but here I am, sick to my stomach and have been throwing up since 3 this morning from their carnitas nachos. Two visits in a row with food poisoning is two too many and now I have to swear off Tikila from now on, it's just not worth the risk. It just sucks because we truly do love Tikila but food poisoning is no joke...especially if you don't have sick time off for work! read more

Dined here with my sister after a day shopping. The food was amazing. My sister DoorDashed it the next day just cause she couldn't stop thinking about it. Everything tastes fresh and made to order. My sister got the chicken and cheese quesadilla we split the queso and cheese and I got the Baja fish taco as well as the Baja shrimp taco everything was really good. Their homemade hot sauce were amazing. I would highly recommend this to anyone and inside. It's very cute. It's nice clean area. They also have outside seating. That's great for perfect days. Welp, walking in the door I thought it was colorful, bright and overall very cute decor, but I also felt like it lacked feng shui. There was not a direct route to the register and the placement of the menu on the wall wasn't really visible when waiting in line at the register. I ordered the birria taco trio, and props the cashier for upselling me to the birria tacos with queso, I will loop back to the tacos soon. I also ordered a side of equite. I considered purchasing an alcoholic drink but made the decision to cash out and then was going to seat myself at the bar and possible get a margarita, welp that didn't happen for two reasons, I felt like the food I purchased was waaaaaayyyyy over priced and I would not be spending any more money and I found the bar stool/chairs to be very uncomfortable. As for the food itself; I would give the queso birria tacos a ten out of ten, probably the best I've ever had and the esquire on the other hand is getting two very big thumbs down. I was very disappointed in the flavor and the corn itself was really tough and most definitely over priced at $4.50 for the poor quality. I do think the tacos were pricey but I would have overlooked the cost of them bc they truly were perfect in my opinion! After tipping 18% my dinner for three tacos and a side of esquite was $28 and change! I am really conflicted about how to rate my experience here and wish I could give "half stars". I have been hearing good things about Tikila & got a chance to dine here for dinner. There was plenty of parking out front in the shared parking lot. The restaurant was clean, spacious, & brightly decorated with cute decor. You place your order at the counter & then it is brought to you when it is ready. There is a self serve fountain dispenser near the register. I got the chorizo bowl with rice, shredded cheese, sauce, corn, lettuce, and pico. The bowl was flavorful, filling, and tasted good. Right off the bat, this place is clean. The service is excellent and food was great. Very filling and inexpensive lunch! So impressed I'm writing this as I still sit here. Lunch for two tacos and a soda was under $12 and it was very filling. Staff promptly brought my food to my table after I ordered and twice someone came over to see if everything was good. Tikila was definitely my favorite food stop during my quick trip to Wake Forest! They have a great ambiance, especially on the patio! There's a fun little neon sign and string lights. Plenty of seating inside and outside. We placed our order at the counter and then went to the bar to get a drink, service at both stations was friendly and efficient. Update: I've been back a few times now and service has smoothed out nicely. All of the food I've tried has been excellent. Nachos are a huge portion, tons of toppings over fresh chips. Get one to share. I've had the birria burrito twice.... Really love it. Tried steak tacos as well. Two was enough to fill me up, even though I ordered 3. This was my 1st time here! The restaurant is cute, but the chairs aren't comfortable but tolerable! I got a shrimp taco, it was good! A fish taco, also good not sure if I was supposed to dress them up but they were both good! The food was great. I ordered the pineapple bowl and the only critique I had was that there were no pineapples in the recipe. I thought there would be pineapple chunks but it was an actually "pineapple bowl" and the pineapple was completely scraped out of it. Otherwise, it was flavorful and a great portion size. It's supposed to be a Mexican-inspired restaurant, yet it had Pacific Islander theme--nothing made sense. The space felt cold and uninviting, with hard surfaces everywhere, no cushions. The menu was redundant, offering the same meats prepared three different ways without any clear descriptions of what the meats were or how they were seasoned--a missed opportunity, really. I ordered the Birria nachos and a shrimp Baja taco. The food came out quickly, but oddly enough, it was lukewarm. I was starving, so I started eating, but by the time I was halfway through, the nachos had turned soggy, and I had to call it quits. I decided to move on to my taco, but my stomach had other plans. I suddenly felt a sharp cramp, so I sat up, thinking it might be gas. But it wasn't. I ended up rushing to the restroom. The only thing I had eaten earlier that day was popcorn, so I'm certain it was the food. I had to cut my evening short and head home to recover. We are very spoiled with our Latin food, coming from California. The birria tacos were delicious with homemade tortillas. The hubby got three different tacos: Carne asada, Pastor and carnitas. All very tasty and cooked well. Nice variety of alcohol and we finished the meal with churros that were absolutely delicious. They had the right amount of crunch on the outside and softness inside. Great place for authentic Mexican food! Located in The Shoppes at Heritage Village in Wake Forest, it's central to all of Wake Forest and easy enough to get to from Raleigh and Knightdale. It's well lit but has a cantina feel. It's a walk up order for food and drinks, but has a good amount of space for tables and the service is fast and friendly. The drinks are great, too. The steak and chicken were super overcooked and the chicken was super bland. I had to drown it in the green salsa they give you, which is incredible. The birria taco was fine, nothing to write home about. If you're expecting a true, authentic birria taco, you won't get it here.
