Went here based on my doctors referral. My previous doctor for my colonoscopy retired. Dr Hsu who I got to see and he was a good listener and answered all my questions. It wasn't a long appt but covered all the areas and recommended a higher volume drink to clear out my colon given the previous images from last time. On the day of my colonoscopy it went super smooth and the staff at their facility were on top of everything. They were friendly and ensured I was in a good shape before going under. Located off Madison St. in Torrance. This is the same building I come to for Quest. Came here for a Colonoscopy. Where to start first off definitely not a fun thing especially the prep the day before. Also 5 days before as well where it kinda starts depending on your Dr, condition and if taking certain meds. Came in filled out paperwork then waited for my turn. This facility had 3 Doctors here when I came so as my buddy who brought me here called it a cattle call people going in and out the procedure was about 1and half hours to 2 depending. The downside with so many people going in for three different doctors and only 2 main rooms to do the procedure you can imagine my appointment was at 12:15pm I didn't get called in until around 1:10pm. The staff were great and helpful and they apologized for the wait time etc. It can vary per person but for me the put me under next thing I know I wake up all done it was about 1:30 to 2 hours that the procedure took. Definitely you have to have someone you know drive you home no Uber or such. Overall it was a painless process only exception was the before. read more

Let's face it: colonoscopies are NEVER fun. But! They are recommended primarily because early detection is always important! I was referred to do mine here. Yes, it is my very first, so there's some level of anxiety days and up to hours before. However, I was reassured by many friends and family members (who've gone through it) it isn't as bad as one might expect. By the time the day rolled around, I was ready to just get it done and over with. I was welcomed by the receptionist and asked to complete some paperwork. I was called in soon after for prep. I was impressed, gotta say, they are pretty efficient with their time. Once my vitals were taken, I was rolled in the procedure room (right on the dot of my appointment/procedure time), was reassured by Dr Holt, got knocked out immediately, and the next thing I knew, I was at recovery. Well that was FAST! Really, it wasn't bad at all. I got out of recovery quick and waited for Hubbers to come swoop me up. (NOTE: They are required to wheelchair you out, so have your ride wait for you on the first floor.) TIPS: 1. You will be asked to arrive 45 minutes before to complete paperwork as well as prep. Your appointment time is actually your procedure time. 2. Wear warm clothing. Their office is freezing! (This is deliberate - I think it's part of the patients' recovery stage.) But worry not - they have tons of warm blankets for you to use before, during and after your run. 3. They may (MAY!) ask you to remove any internal body piercings since the procedure may involve cauterizing. 4. You'll need a ride home. They will not release you without one. And if ride-share is your only choice, they will not release you without the company of someone you know. Make arrangements ahead of time! Shout out to Dr. Holt for putting me at ease, to Sella for being so thorough with my vitals, to Romina for reassuring me it's a really easy and quick procedure, and to Samantha, Lisa and Aurora for making sure I was comfortable from beginning to end. But it is true: it wasn't bad at all. The toughest part was fasting which, I felt, wasn't even tough at all. I thought I'd be starving and I was surprised I wasn't. (Water and jello did help a lot, though!) So for all you first timers, if you're in the market for an endoscopic center, you might wanna consider this one. I strongly advise to check with your insurance first to make sure you're covered. Not bad. Not bad at all. read more

This office was awesome. Colonoscopies aren't something you look forward to doing but having it done here was great. The ladies at the front office were very kind and efficient. The nurses in the back were so friendly and professional. They really put you at ease in an uncomfortable situation. Dr. Holt was very nice as well and explained everything that was going to happen. Took a great nap and was back in recovery in about 20 minutes. After a little wake up time my daughter was waiting for me and Dr. Holt came out and gave his results. I had a 7:30 AM appointment and we were on our way home by 8:30. If you need to have this done you should consider this office. read more

This place functions as an assembly line business and their only concern is bed availability. Patients are inconsequential. I was scheduled for an endoscopy at 2pm, but they were running late, so I didn't get called in until about 2:30pm, but once I was inside, then the rush was on. Pre-procedure was rushed questions and a hurried review by the anesthesiologist. In the procedure room, the nurse put the oxygen tube in my nostrils and didn't pay attention to the tube placement, so when she turned and pulled, she pulled the tube across my neck. I had trouble moving my arm because of the IV & finger monitor, but I managed to loosen the tube from my neck and told the nurse when she finally turned back toward me. In the post-procedure, it was about getting me out - it was 3:25pm and my guess was that they close at 4pm. The doctor didn't talk to me and a nurse, Felicia, asked a second nurse to find him. When that second nurse was asked if she found the doctor, her response was, "Oh, I didn't check." So, Felicia just continued with getting me up and out. I had discomfort/pain in the center of my stomach and asked why I had that, Felicia initially didn't answer my question, I asked it again, and she only offered that I could take Tylenol, call the office, and go to emergency if the pain persists, then directed me to the wheelchair to be wheeled out. I was completely furious but I told the nurse who wheeled me out that I wanted it noted that I'm leaving with pain. Unprofessional, zero bedside manner, and a bad experience that I will definitely share with family, friends, and strangers as a warning to avoid this place. read more

In February I unexpectedly recieved a phone call from the guy who calls himself a doctor . 4 months after my procedure. My primary doctors office had sent me a questionnaire about my experience with these goofballs. I told them the above , ending with I'd never recieved the report of the procedure or spoken with the doctor . When out of the blue, this joker calls. Very unprofessional place. I have yet to recieve the written report. Never go here. This place is a dump. read more

Nobody looks forward to having an endoscope even though it's like taking a little Power Nap. But the prep is a different story and one I'll be glad to avoid for the next 10yrs! However, prep aside-the experience at the Endoscopy Center at Skypark was extraordinary. Everyone I came into contact with demonstrated a kindness and professionalism that was exceptional. I worked as a nurse for nearly 40yrs and had a pretty good look around at the entire spectrum of abilities and motivation. This group is a well oiled machine. I'd like to give a special thanks to Michelle, Chris and Shirley. And it was great running into an old friend and colleague. In our youth-Luz was one of the hardest working nurses i knew and remains so today. The administrators of this surgical center are lucky to have her and the rest of those clinicians I've mentioned. I excluded the name of the nurse who started my IV because of my failing memory. But I won't forget the heroic effort by Nicole who was able to wrangle a snack for my 3yo granddaughter who had run out of glucose while waiting for me to be rolled down to my daughters vehicle after discharge. She wanted a snack and couldn't be consoled until Nicole showed up with a couple of snacks for her. Thank you and the rest of that crew!!! read more

My doctor wanted me to get a colonscopy procedure done. The Endoscopic procedure is a test that aids in diagnosing colorectal cancer as well as treating the disease. The doctor examining the inside of the body using an instrucment that has a light attached which is inserted directly into the cavity of the body. The procedure allows the doctors to see any polyps or growths inside the colon or rectum. The procedure takes about 15 - 25 minutes but the preparation and recovery takes approximately 2 hours. The building opens at 6:30 which is when various procedures start & closes at 3:30. The offices are very clean, spotless to be exact; the restrooms are secured, you must ask for the key. The receptionist was very nice, patience & helpful as they hand you the forms to be completed prior to your procedure. I found the staff were all very friendly, offered service with a smile & very calming. Dr. Fukunaga was my doctor, he was the best! I would recommend this place when considering having this procedure done...I would also recommend that every adult of the requiring age make this a mandatory procedure that you have done. read more

I had an excellent experience at the Endoscopy Center from start to finish. The waiting room was clean and comfortable and I had the right amount of time to fill out the required forms ahead of my procedure and use the restroom. There wasn't a moment of idle waiting, which was nice because I was very nervous about having a colonoscopy. Once I was called in, everyone I spoke to was extremely kind and friendly. My admitting nurse, Jeanette, was very sweet and thorough with asking me about my cleanse prep, medications, health history, etc. Her pleasant demeanor immediately made me feel more comfortable. Next, my CRNA, Chris, confirmed some more information with me and explained that the anesthesia process for me was pretty clear cut due to my health history. He was very kind and knowledgeable and helped me feel even more comfortable. The RN in the room for my procedure was Shirley. She knew I was feeling very anxious, and I loved how she asked me about myself and joked around with me. I think she picked up on the fact that humor is my coping mechanism, so I appreciated that SO much!! I met Dr. Hakim in-person before the start of my procedure. (I'd previously had a telephone appointment with her, as I was looking for a new gastroenterologist and my primary doctor recommended her). I felt strongly after my phone appointment that she was the right choice- she asked me lots of questions and gave great feedback about my concerns. At the colonoscopy, she was so helpful in explaining the procedure and answering questions. For the procedure itself, I was completely out (thankfully, as I've had friends and family who have woken up during their procedures and I was scared of that happening to me)! After waking up from my procedure, Jamie was my recovery nurse, and she was very sweet and funny. She joked around with me as I was becoming more aware, and that made me feel at ease after my procedure. She let me know when it was all clear for me to use the restroom once I got dressed and she made sure I had all of my necessary paperwork to take home with me. I spoke with Dr. Hakim about the results of my colonoscopy and we discussed her recommended treatment for me moving forward. She was extremely considerate of what I felt comfortable with and I am very thankful for that. I'm happy that she is my new gastroenterologist! Overall, this was such a positive experience. Everyone I dealt with was knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. Obviously my first concern when going to see any type of doctor is their expertise, and I had zero issues with that here. My second concern is bedside manner (I have, unfortunately, learned the hard way to be concerned about this). But Dr. Hakim and her staff were all so kind and considerate, and that goes a long way with me. The office even called this morning to check in on me to see how I was feeling after my procedure yesterday. If anyone I mentioned in this review ever ends up reading this someday, THANK YOU!!! I was so afraid to get this done, and this was as good of an experience as I could have hoped for. The nurses who took me back were very friendly and made me feel as comfortable as possible (warm blankets, etc.). They got the IV in with the first stick, and I have difficult tiny veins and was a bit dehydrated (so no issues there - good nursing care). I was quickly brought back to a procedure room. The nurse anesthetist was nice, and I was fully sedated (colonoscopy) and slept through my procedure. I woke up just before they wheeled me to recovery. Recovery was fine - they waited until I felt awake and well, maybe half an hour, and they let my husband come back. The doctor spoke to me and my husband about my results (which were also provided in writing - a good thing since I was a little out of it!), and I was wheeled out in a wheel chair. They do have a lot of patients - I was a bit shocked when they brought me back to the "prep/waiting" area at how many rolling beds there were. But they handled everything so efficiently and everyone was so nice even with such a busy center. Also, I know every experience is different, but in my case, the staff was very attentive to how I was feeling during recovery. Even nurses and people who were around the recovery room who weren't assigned to me asked if I was doing ok. I had a 9:30 procedure time with 8:45 arrival, and I believe I was done by 11 or 11:30. Unlike the complaints on here about the 45 minutes "arrival time," I was definitely not kept waiting for any unnecessary time. The 45 minutes included both the 15-20 minutes in front (a registration form, review of consents, etc.) and also the time to start prep with the nurses (changing into a gown, asking all the standard questions about medications, and getting my IV inserted). Considering a colonoscopy could save your life, it is worth taking the time to get this done. These reviews are all over the place (5 star, 1 star) - don't let reviews stop you from taking care of your health. read more

Having a colonoscopy is not a walk in the park; not sure what Katie Couric was trying to convince us. The preparation was worse than and lasted longer than the procedure. But once I got here, the whole staff was so warm, attentive, caring, and highly efficient! I was glad I had them to temper the discomfort of the whole process. read more

This place is completely unprofessional and terrible customer service. I took my mother in for an appt at 1p on a Friday they actually managed to get that done in a timely manner, but a day before the weekend wasn't a good day to go they rushed her out of the office as it was getting close to closing time. After the procedure she felt so nauseous and could barely move that she eventually vomited. While she was recovering she was asked to get dressed multiple times! She was groggy and nauseous, but no one asked her how she was doing or felt. How about give her a few minutes to collect herself! During this time I received a call to pick her up or at least be on my way in 30 mins an hour after the procedure was over. I didn't speak to the doctor and she didn't either! Both of us should've no matter what the results were (seriously?!). As I'm driving to pick her up I receive another call asking if I'm coming to get her! Can I get into my car and leave?! The second call was 15 mins after the first one :/ They gave her something for nausea which made her vomit again and she had trouble getting dressed, which no one let me know she was vomiting so much! After she couldn't get dressed yet they called me to let me know she was taking more time since she was dizzy. They didn't offer her a basin to vomit in she threw up on the bed (gross!). I couldn't go up as I was waiting with my two babies in the car. My mom told me all of this after the fact, which if I would've know I would've had a sitter and stayed with her as I didn't think a routine procedure would bring about such terrible treatment of patients. After not being about to have solid food for nearly 2 days the treatment of patients is unacceptable here! Get a new job if you don't like this one and you certainly shouldn't rush a patient OUT of the office! Have some decent patient care. read more

I am sitting here in the waiting room after receiving a call to pick up my husband. They told me if I arrive in the next 30 min I will be able to hear the Dr. report. So, I arrived promptly and have been waiting in the waiting room for 45 minutes. While waiting inside the practice, I recevied a phone call informing me that my husband is ready to be picked up (while patiently waiting in the office waiting room). Next thing I know, the receptionist asks me to take the call outside.--UNBELIEVABLE! I expect more from a professional practice-- this feels like unorganized cattle call that is not providing care the care and attention I ecpect from a Professional Medical Practice. read more

Well back at the echo chamber waiting room waiting for my mother to get called in. They tell you to be here 45 min early for absolutely no reason. Quite shocking they don't have signs stating no food or drink in the waiting room as a measure of respect for the patients that are NPO waiting for their procedure. Oh wait ! Signs mean absolutely nothing in this place as you can see by the second pic I took on my second visit here of another person on their cell phone approx. 2' away from a sign stating no cell phones. Remove the frickin signs if you are not going to enforce them. Again this place is as inviting as a prison waiting room. No privacy at the front desk and everything that is said echoes through out this free clinic looking waiting room. Much better choices in this area. read more

Dr. Zaidel was excellent, the Endoscopy center back room staff were also very good and well organized. Waiting room as noted in other reviews was a bit of a cattle call, as is the whole process. My complaint is the surprise billing for the anesthetist. You have no choice and no awareness beforehand, until the bill arrives in the mail. Also, no ability to contact their office (it's separate from the Endoscopy center). Left a bad taste in my mouth that the center is involved in this. Billing is way out of proportion to the doctor and the center's billing (the anesthetist gets 3X what the doctor does!). This is a problem with all anesthetists/anesthesiologists and I've had it before. Should have asked ahead of time and so should you. read more

My dad had to do his endoscopy at this location and his appointment was scheduled for 9:15 am. So we arrived on time, but we had waited in the lobby for more than 2 hours.I asked the lady at the front desk what was taking so long, since we had an appointment and she did not know. So far very bad service, not to mention my dad is 85 years old and diabetic. Finally, he got inside to do the procedure. Even though they said his scheduled doctor , Dr Pattel, was running late. Overall very unprofessional, inconsiderate and careless about my dad's health issues. It has been 14 days since my endoscopy but I still have not gotten my biopsy results. I will call the office tomorrow for results. But I really think they should call patients with results--good or bad. That is apart of taking care of patients IMHO. read more

From the time you walk into the center you are welcomed with a Very efficient, and friendly staff. Doctors are caring and professional. They take their time and give you their upmost attention. The center is clean, and well maintained. I have had three colonoscopies and two endoscopes here, and have always been treated with respect and care. I'm surprised by the negative reviews. I agree that it didn't take 45 minutes to fill out the paperwork, but I went in for the procedure right on time. The waiting room was like every other doctor's waiting room I've been in. The staff who prepped me were courteous and very empathetic, even injecting a little humor into what is a fairly stressful situation. The nurse and technician in the room itself were first rate - again, made me feel very comfortable. The last thing I remember was the nurse telling me that she was going to add demerol to my drip. Next thing I knew, I was in the recovery room, feeling fine, albeit a little spacy, and the doctor came in and gave my wife and me his preliminary findings. I'm not saying that having a colonoscopy is an experience I would want to repeat regularly, but the prep was far worse than the procedure, thanks to the great people at the Endoscopy Center. read more

Listen Up - I'm a physician who practices in the area and I know and work with this team of Gastroenterologists on a regular basis across the street at the 'Big House.' Anyone who gives this place anything other than 5 stars is a crank. Unlikely you read the science - but I do even though it's not my specialty. What's going on at this center isn't Malarkey. Colon cancer screening for Pre-Cancerous Polyps, and Upper Endoscopy Screening for Barrett's esophagus is something You Should Do. Lead time bias in research is not applicable to these lifesavers. The science indicates you should be screened EARLY, regularly and possibly frequently . GI Docs in research are getting a 'very' difficult handle on Pancreatic Cancer by either Genetic pre-screening - gene therapy - and aggressive endoscopic ultrasounds in high risk populations . It seems a bit odd writing a review for an endoscopy center, but I was blown away by the the experience . From the minute I walked in the door, everyone was professional and very friendly. I was taken back at the time of my appointment, everything was explained to me by friendly knowledgeable people, and I was given good drugs so I had no idea what was going on. This was the place that my insurance sent me. I am glad they did. If you are someone that chooses where to go, I highly recommend this pl;ace.
