    3 Birria Tacos
    Mohamed K.

We got 3 birria tacos without cilantro. They came with 1 lime slice each and plenty of sauces, not all of which are pictured. Very generous with the quantity of beef and it's great quality, tender and juicy and not too greasy. The tortilla was strong and flavorful and crunchy. Birria tacos tasted fantastic, I love them and would order them again. The torta was delicious and reasonably priced, especially given the amount of beef in it. It also had avocado, cheese, and pickled jalapeños on it. An absolute delight to eat, I enjoyed it more than the tacos. Quick, courteous service and great food! Try it out!

Came to Torta Truck for lunch with hubby. As soon as u walk it u smell all the deliciousness!! Very small and quaint spot with a few spots to sit. I had the Birirra Tacos. Very flavorful and filing!! They are fullll of meat. Only thing i wasnt a fan of was the tortilla shells, a bit over cook and hard to chew. Their guac is yummy. I will def be back to try other items on the menu. Also check out their social media for locations on their food truck.

Jersey City, NJ // Torta truck has expanded to their own brick and mortar and that's with great reason - food is nothing short of delicious. Consistent and fresh daily. New place is small but food and service are still amazing. Personal faves: Birria tacos + consommé, Birria empanadas + consommé, chicken torta Tip: Always ask for extra lime

We tried the torta truck before and the food was amazing. When they told us they were going to have a brick and mortar restaurant, we wanted to go and check it out! We ordered the Al pastor, carne asada and birria tacos to go. We also ordered a birria empanada and the fiesta fries which were so satisfying. The green sauce that comes with the food is the best. They also didn't skimp on the limes. Food was packed neatly in paper boxes and were still warm when we got home. They have a small area for seating. I think most people order for pickup.

I remember seeing the truck all artsy-purrty, but I never ordered the food. So when they opened in my hood, I was like, aiiight! Got Birria Empanada. Great tasty meat, with great texture, wrapped up nice with a hot, perfectly crunchy pastry. What I didn't like: the mozzarella. It was chuncky and cold and didn't add nothing to the empanada. Not sure if it was supposed to be melty, but maybe shredded woulda worked here. Nah, I'm not gonna get that again. Pollo Asado Taco. The test for me. They passed. Tender pieces of chicken, spiced nice, tasty, even tho it wasn't better than the Al Pastor. Al Pastor Taco. Divine. Great pork, great sweetness from the pineapple, great spice, topped with just enough schtuff to bring it all together nice, every bite was worth a slow-mo video. My fave of all so far. Agua Fresca Jamaican. Great flavor without the intense tartness like Sorrel, yet, not mega sweet to take away from the food. I'd get that again. Now, the tortilla on them tacos tasted homemade, as they should, but you gotta eat em quick cuz they lose the bite-able desired freshness somehow; they get tougher, which is kinda weird, but cuz of the great filling & me doin takeout, I didn't judge too harshly. If all the filling from the taco was on some rice, I'd be goin there once a week. The lil cups of red sauce and green sauce were well done. A lil kick in each one and no bitterness or sharp flavors to take away from whatever you put it on. Service was on point. Friendly and attentive and answered any quirky questions folks had. Menu cards were at the counter and painted lovely on the wall. They love the food they serve and want you to love it too. Go check 'em!

Honestly was disappointed in the quality of the tortillas the second I grabbed onto the taco the tortillas where dry, I thought the meat will do justice for the disappointing tortilla but the chicken was flavorless, I would say it wasn't dry at least compared to the rest of the food I also ordered a torta because you would think TORTA truck would have At least decent tortas but I was disappointed when I saw yellow cheese in it. Also consomé tasted more like tomato soup Just overall dissatisfying! I've tried tacos from other places and the tortillas doesn't get as stale as these tortillas after 15 minutes ordering them! Finally went to torta trucks restaurant and WOW!! BOMB AF!! We got the birria ramen, el pastor tacos, and birria tacos and it was all so good! I felt the ramen was the best! It was the best thing for a cold day! I will 100% be back!

We stopped by Torta Truck for lunch today and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was friendly, and most importantly, the food was fresh and delicious. The flavors were well balanced, and the pork torta had a perfect smoky taste. I got the breaded chicken torta, and I was surprised how fresh everything was inside. The cheese and the refried beans sent me! I highly recommend this space. We will be back to try everything.

Our server was very on top of her stuff, making sure we had everything we needed and we were enjoying the food. She even let us practice our Spanish with her when ordering! My sister ordered the chicken tinga tacos and I ordered the beef birria. Both taco orders came with 5 tacos (because of the deal, it is typically 4), onions, cilantro, lime, and radish. Don't sleep on the radish, it my favorite part to add a nice crunch! Both meats were very flavorful and tender. They also gave us green and hot salsa on the side (green was my fave) and the birria tacos came with some delicious consommé for dipping. We also ordered guac and chips as an appetizer which was very fresh, and our favorite jarritos flavors to drink. It's decorated very nicely inside - no frills, a few tables and chairs inside for dining in and even a bar-style area with stools for those dining by themselves. They also offer takeout of course, but I honestly enjoyed sitting down because everything was very quick and they took great care of us. We walked, but there is only street parking so keep that in mind when traveling here.

However, I recently stopped into their original Jersey City spot for a quick snack at the bar. While my companion ordered a cocktail, I just had a can of Diet Coke, but we shared an order of chips and pico de gallo, which was excellent! The tortilla points were crispy and perfectly salted. The fresh tomato salsa was vibrant and delicious, but we also appreciated the three squirt bottles of more liquid-like sauces they gave us as well. These included one that was more smoky, one that was a medium spice-level verde, and another that was a more fiery rendition. The bar staff was great, and the large dining room was dimly-lit, but decorated with bright, festive colors. I will need to revisit that Orale location for a larger, more substantial meal next time!

The restaurant is located in the busy downtown area of Grove St. Jersey City. If you are lucky enough to get street parking great, if not there are some garages you can park in for a fee. I walked up and there were several employees at the entrance to the outdoor street-side patio chitchatting. They were very pleasant and quickly gave me a table. It wasn't busy. That's a key fact. Also I was dining alone. It took about 5 minutes for the waiter to come over and when he did he asked about my water preference and showed me the QR code on the table to get the menu. He left and came back and I gave him my order which was the carnitas tacos and a watermelon margarita. He quickly walked off and the food came out LITERALLY in 5 minutes. I was surprised because I was expecting the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa that's customary at most Mexican restaurants. Also I saw other tables with 2 or more with chips in front of them. So I asked a waitress that was passing by (since my waiter had seem to disappear) if I too can get the tortilla chips and she said it would be extra. Okay...well I started eating my food and my drink came out. The food was good. Flavorful. Temperature wise it didn't come out hot, it was warm... so it's not cooked to order. The drink was sweet and strong. So my reason for the three stars isn't the food or drink but more so for the service I received as a solo diner. My waiter never came back over to check on me! Had he done so I would have easily ordered dessert and something more to drink as I enjoyed the patio area. I had to wave him down to bring my check as he passed my table several times without even looking my way. Piece of me wanted to mirror his service in my tip but I still gave generously just to be a blessing. But I hate that I received poor service because I was a solo diner. I was a little jealous on how he treated the two other tables with 2&3 people. I spent over $50 here and left disappointed. So if you've reached this far, will I go back? Maybe. Just not alone. This location near Times Square is ALWAYS busy, so expect a line out the door and a battle to find standing room once you actually get your food. There's no time to be distracted here - look at the menu while you're in line so you can immediately know what to order once you reach the counter. Also keep an eye out for people trying to shortcut the line. Prices are steep per taco - is that really surprising in the heart of New York, no - but my favorite is the Adobada: so much flavor packed into the meat and balanced with the sweetness of the pineapple slivers. Second would be the carne asada (get this if you're a guac lover). Their agua de jamaica unfortunately is pretty bland so I'd stick to the classics next time and probably get a bottled Coke. They have a bar at the side for salsas and other toppings, but honestly the salsa is really spicy - yes even for me, the Mexican. I think the tacos are perfectly delicious without it but feel free to take the risk! And stock up on napkins because it can get messy :)
