This was such a cute little spot! I was in the area for work and wanted to grab a quick bite. I stumbled across this place that's located on a main road (so yes parking is a bit rough) but so worth it! I got three Birria tacos. If you want cheese it's a couple cents extra but I went ahead and got it on each. The birria tacos were honestly next level. The meat was so tender it basically melted, packed with that deep, slow cooked flavor that hits right away. I seriously was considering of order another one but was already stuffed! Definitely, more suited for take out as there are only two tables inside to eat at. For the three tacos and a Coke it was $20, which is pretty affordable considering the times we are in! Staff were friendly and helpful too. I will definitely be back and will be thinking of those tacos for quite some time! read more

I ordered lunch for pick up for myself and my nanny, we ordered nachos cargardos with Al pastor, esquite, carne asada taco, carnitas taco, and flautas. I thought the carne asada taco was tasty, but not blown away by everything else. Within two hours of eating the food, I started feeling very ill, vomiting and diarrhea. My nanny texted me in the evening that she was having the same symptoms, feeling like it was also food poisoning. We didn't eat anything else through the day, and because both myself and my nanny had gotten sick from the same establishment, I'm very sure we both got sick from the food. I tried to reach out to the manager to rectify the situation, and both the counter person and another man I spoke with were apologetic and assured me that I could receive a refund. However, the owner, Victoria Olivos, took the phone from the gentleman I was speaking with and was appalled by my situation. She was very defensive and argumentative, assuring me it was impossible I could've gotten sick from her food, though not going through her food safety measures. She indirectly accused me of lying, when I have no reason to, the circumstances after eating their food affected myself, my nanny, and my husband who had to call out of work to take care of our kids while I was recovering. My symptoms are also improving after 24 hours, which also is consistent with food poisoning. The owner refused a refund and I don't appreciate their unprofessionalism and lack of empathy. read more

I stopped by for a lunch and if you're looking to be productive after this meal, you might want to reconsider. This will put you in a food coma immediately! The torta itself was super soft and soaked up all the birria juices well, the birria was tender and well-seasoned, and the consomé which Jesus (the owner) offered for free was literally drinkable! A while back a friend of mine suggested I try birria tacos. Told me to go to this place....."it's really tiny but the food is great" well he was both right and wrong at the same time. He was right in the fact that the place was small I like to call it cozy and quaint. He was wrong about the food. It wasn't great..... no where near great! The food was FANTASTIC! I had three birria tacos plus consommé for dipping. I was in a Mexican food coma and it was AMAZING. I even took some sips of the consommé and it was a salty delicious delight! We tried the torta truck before and the food was amazing. When they told us they were going to have a brick and mortar restaurant, we wanted to go and check it out! We ordered the Al pastor, carne asada and birria tacos to go. We also ordered a birria empanada and the fiesta fries which were so satisfying. The green sauce that comes with the food is the best. I remember seeing the truck all artsy-purrty, but I never ordered the food. So when they opened in my hood, I was like, aiiight! Got Birria Empanada. Great tasty meat, with great texture, wrapped up nice with a hot, perfectly crunchy pastry. What I didn't like: the mozzarella. It was chuncky and cold and didn't add nothing to the empanada. Not sure if it was supposed to be melty, but maybe shredded woulda worked here. Nah, I'm not gonna get that again. Pollo Asado Taco. The test for me. They passed. Tender pieces of chicken, spiced nice, tasty, even tho it wasn't better than the Al Pastor. Al Pastor Taco. Divine. Great pork, great sweetness from the pineapple, great spice, topped with just enough schtuff to bring it all together nice, every bite was worth a slow-mo video. My fave of all so far. Agua Fresca Jamaican. Great flavor without the intense tartness like Sorrel, yet, not mega sweet to take away from the food. I'd get that again. Now, the tortilla on them tacos tasted homemade, as they should, but you gotta eat em quick cuz they lose the bite-able desired freshness somehow; they get tougher, which is kinda weird, but cuz of the great filling & me doin takeout, I didn't judge too harshly. If all the filling from the taco was on some rice, I'd be goin there once a week. The lil cups of red sauce and green sauce were well done. A lil kick in each one and no bitterness or sharp flavors to take away from whatever you put it on. Service was on point. Friendly and attentive and answered any quirky questions folks had. Food isn't bad, but it's very mid. My issue isn't even the fact that it's mid. The real problem is price they charge for the portion size. First of all, who charges for the consume sauce separately when you're ordering a birria item? I've been to so many Mexican restaurants and this has never been the case. Next, avoid getting the nachos. Very overpriced for portion that could realistically barely feed even one person. The birria tacos are extra charge for cheese inside for street taco sizes. Again, food IS NOT bad. Just definitely not recommended if you're eating with another person, worse off if it's a group. These tacos are sooooo good. It's not your standard JC, gentrified tacos. Cough, cough, downtown. These are the real deal, flavorful yummy goodness. The carne asada is perfectly flavored and cooked and has that subtle spice to it that only authentic places have. The al pastor is not sweet it's that perfect blend of savory to sweet ratio. That being said there are a few other authentic places in the area that are significantly cheaper. The price point is off putting considering the rest of the area goes for $12 for 4 tacos. Whereas here, it's $4 per taco. I'm all about quality over quantity, but this is what prevents me from coming back since there are plenty of competitors in the area. May I suggest some Taco Tuesday promotions to cater to the crowd? :D read more

I followed this place on Instagram for a long time and they finally opened one in my neighborhood. Wish I wasn't disappointed because I absolutely love tacos! I wanted to try their birria tacos but to my dismay ONE taco (without the usual melted cheese) is $4! The cheese that comes Included on any other birria taco I've ever had is an additional 75¢. So ONE taco comes out to around $5, which to me is outrageous. I ended up only ordering one to see if I liked them before ordering more since they were so expensive. I also asked for the customary consummet (idk if that's how you spell it, but it's the broth the meat is stewed in, for dipping your taco). You would think that would come with the $5 taco being that that's how birria tacos are served but no it's also sold separately. The taco was also not grilled shut with delicious melted cheese oozing out. It was left wide open with a bit of melted cheese. I'd also like to add I sat outside in their outdoor space while i waited to eat there and had another patron knock on the glass to let me know my ONE taco was ready. They couldn't bring it out to me ? By the time I was done I had one birria taco and a coke for $11 + $2 tip left when paid. Not to mention it didn't taste like much even with the cosummet and the coke was in a glass bottle but was room temperature. Will never be back, as excited as I was to try out, not worth the hype.
