    Caldo de Camaron

I usually come here during my work lunch and the food and drinks are solid, but today was a big letdown. I was craving caldo for the first time here, and honestly it looked like it was thrown together in a rush. The broth wasn't strained at all and came out way too thick and lumpy not what I expected at all. Super disappointing experience.

Hands down Chápala has the best torta! Very fresh from the bread to the ingredients and the asada just full of flavor. The beautiful waitress greeted me and sit me down she was nice. My order was done quick, clean and authentic restaurant. I recommend Chapala for all their food.

    Carne en su jugo

Third time at Tortas Ahogadas Chapala and it has never disappointed! The carne en su jugo is delicious, the red menudo and pozole are the best, and the tacos dorados are extra tasty. Highly recommend.

I had a craving for a torta ahogada since having it at a different place in LA. This place did not disappoint! The bread was perfect to soak in all that tasty tomato sauce! I got it with the carnitas and it was very flavorful. I also got two tacos dorados de barbacoa and they were flavorful as well. Everything is made fresh and so yummy. My husband had an enchilada plate with carne asada and enjoyed every bite. He said he wants to come back. The customer service is on point too! The waitresses are very polite and friendly.

First time trying this place out for lunch and it was great. Upon entry a worker will ask if you're picking up or dining in, then you can seat yourself to any available table or seat at the bar. The restaurant was very clean, tables were cleaned, and all tables had hand sanitizer which I really appreciated. Waitress then will bring chips and salsa, chips were well salted and salsa was fresh and very tasty. I ordered a Carne Asada Torta and it was just great, the flavoring and the way they toasted the bread was perfect. My fiancé ordered a michelada, 2 buche tacos and a carne asada quesadilla, he said it was very good and that the meat was well flavored. We will definitely come back again for lunch.

Skip the tortas and go with their burritos mojados de tripa en salsa verde have never had anything like this before and they are D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!!! As for drinks their cantaritos are amazing if you're looking to have a cocktail but if not their horchata is to die for!! We had a party of 11 and we were served quickly and our food came out nice and hot. The place is comfortable and tables are clean. Service was excellent! Can't wait to go back

What an amazing gem we found extremely fast service. ‍ The chips and salsa came out right away! The waitress was extremely attentive. , and even though the place is named after their famous tortas ahogados, my culinary intuition told me to go for the tacos Dorados topped with Carnitas and the same sauce they use for the tortas, I got one cheese and one potato. they were amazing. I will be back. everything was affordable and they had a little lunch rush. I'm so glad I came here. What a great place. Don't miss it. Nice atmosphere as well, music playing but not too loud and had plenty of seating. They did stay busy tho. And i can see why now.

nachos with half chicharrones and half carnitas. YUM!

This place is located in strip mall out in Rialto. As soon as I walked in, I can tell this place was a chill place to eat with very friendly people serving you. I was really excited to sit down and order. I ended up getting the #9 (or #5? It's been a while and they're similar). Either way, this order gives you a good sample of a lot what they have to offer. If the #9, it comes with a panucho, a salbute, a polcan, an empanada de carne, a taco de cochinita de pibil, and a taco relleno. The amazing flavors and textures. I was like a kid in a candy store with this meal. Everything was delicious all washed down with the Modelo. It's a little far for me, but definitely would love to stop by again if I'm in the area or driving through.

Long review but I think it's important to say what needs to be said:…read more THE SHORT VERSION; First time visiting this place since reviews were generally good and it's truly something special to see a restaurant specializing in Yucatecan food only. The food was different than your standard Mexican offering and overall very good, good seasoning and portions. Pricing was not out of what would be expected for quality Mexican food. The service, unfortunately, was half baked, which is really sad for me to see as a staunch supporter of local, immigrant owned businesses and being a child of immigrants myself and knowing how much hard work is involved in maintaining a business alive. THE LONGER VERSION; It was apparent that the waitress that served us during our visit could not only benefit from more training in offering (and caring to offer) a better customer service experience / better table side communication but also needs to make the connection about how her actions affect the livelihood of a business that others have undoubtedly worked very hard for. But, I guess this assumes she wants to genuinely work there. To begin with, my party was greeted by a poorly delivered and off putting joke about making sure she served us lots of alcohol; delivered in a way that in Spanish is known as "ser llevado" or overly familiar. Odd to make jokes like that when you just met someone visiting your business for the first time, but we passed it off as just a poor attempt to connect. Fine, we moved on. The music was extremely loud. When we asked if it could be lowered somewhat, she lowered the volume from an 11 to a 2, which then made the ask not only awkward but almost passive aggressive. (I only say this because once we left, we heard the volume quickly go back to 11, as if they were just waiting for us to leave to crank the volume back up again). The waitress did explain the dishes well, letting us know what the unique ones were. However, in the middle of our conversation a guy walked through the door and it was obvious that there's a connection between them because she then got more impatient explaining things to us as said guy moved to sit at a table towards the back of the restaurant. We completed our order, she served us and then kind of disappeared to wait on the other table, we thought. When she did happen to pass by our table again, I politely asked for additional plates and silverware, when she had a chance, to which she replied that I could pick them up myself from near the register area. Her response seemed out place since we were dining in and we were under the impression that she was our waitress, so I asked her again for silverware, not plastic utensils. Again, she told me that I could pick up plastic utensils myself from the register, pointing, "see they're right there" and walked away to the kitchen. We were still processing the exchange, a bit in disbelief, when she then appeared with requested silverware and additional plates but visibly annoyed and in some kind of hurry. It was really hard to focus on enjoying our meal after that. The waitress then made her way to the back table to sit next to, one could now only presume was her boyfriend, and we never saw her again. She never checked on us, asked if we needed anything, etc. Her priority was staying seated and chatting it up with that guy. Who did come to check on us was the owner, who seems to have cooked the meals and walked out of the kitchen to speak with us. He asked if we had enjoyed the food, if it was our first time there, talked about how he sourced his ingredients, shared some of the restaurant's history. Then he walked away to continue working. Unfortunately, we were forced to engage again with the waitress (who remained seated at the back table) and had to ask her across the restaurant where we should pay. Before she answered from her chair (didn't even get up to speak with us and was getting ready to yell back at us from her seat) the owner appeared at the register and told us we could pay with him. Unfortunately, the whole service experience did negatively color our desire to return to this place again. Giving more like 3.5 stars because the food was good but not enough to overlook the unpleasant service.

When I arrived, I was a little confused about where to order since there's a window outside and also a small seating area inside where you can order as well. It wasn't a big deal, just a little unclear at first. I'll admit, my first reaction was to question the price. At $23, the burrito definitely isn't cheap. But once I got home and opened it up, I quickly understood why. This thing is massive, seriously like the size of a newborn baby! The burrito is absolutely loaded with all the goodness you'd expect: carne asada, chili relleno, and rice. Definitely a burrito you could easily share. My only real complaint is that they only gave me two small containers of hot sauce, which didn't feel like enough considering the size of the burrito and that it also comes with chips. Other than that, the food was delicious and the portion size is no joke. If you're a fan of big, flavorful burritos, this is definitely a must-try spot!

I was…read morehopeful the enchiladas were similar to my mom's that passed away 9 yrs ago and was from Michoacán but once they added the hot salsa juice on top of the cabbage it made them more like crunchy quesadillas that got soggy, not at all an enchilada but decent flavor. The chicken that came with it was indeed bomb. Menu doesn't come with prices and the dishes are overpriced considering the food was not what expected. One enchilada plate, wet burrito, one kids plate , one beer and one orchata was $75, we added tip to that. My husband said his wet burrito was okay but since it was just okay and it was $25 not worth getting since it's just a burrito. They give you salsa ins containers smaller than the ranch containers to go and it makes it hard to eat chips and salsa off of them. The salsas for the chips are more for tacos than to dip in. Some ones else's fish tacos looked good and I thought I'd give them a try next time since this place is in my hometown but all in all I don't plan to come back in the near future because of how long it took to get our food at the end. I was worn out from waiting for my food with my restless toddler. ***I recommend not adding that steaming hot sauces to the enchiladas that turn them to shredded quesadillas and faster service.
