Seventeen minutes for Mexican food I'd never eaten, on the word of Yelp strangers. Worth it. Sergio's is small and unbothered. You walk in and get "hola, joven" before the door shuts behind you. I'd ordered takeout. The woman at the register talked me out of it, which was the correct call and not mine to make. A booth was cleared before I could argue. Chips and salsa arrived without being asked for. I hadn't ordered a drink, because I was supposed to be leaving. Then: "¿Mijo, quieres una Coca?" Yes. Obviously yes. All of that happened before the food came out, which is the part worth writing down. Hospitality here isn't a service standard. It's just how the room works. Then the carne asada wet burrito. Chopped beef, great texture, and the serving was plenty. The sauce on top, beautiful red, great flavor, and perfect temperature. Nice restaurant on Foothill Blvd across street from Walmart in Fontana. Came on a Tuesday morning was seated quickly , server was friendly and quick getting our drink order and seating our party of 3. We were craving pozole and was delighted and they serve it everyday and not just the weekends. Delicious, seasoned well and soup was hot and not too spicy. My daughter got the Chiliquiles over medium eggs. She loved it. Was crispy with the tortillas and spackled up the yolk from the eggs. We decided to try this place by our house since we love checking out new spots around our city, and let me just say... we're so glad we did! Came here to wait for an appt near by. Am pleasantly surprised. Had shrimp taco at recommendation of the waiter. Was the most flavorful shrimp I've ever had. The taco was definitely a do again (5/5). We also had a cheese enchilada- it was very very good. And we are enchilada snobs. The sauce was flavorful and delicious. The rice was perfect- it was unique in flavor from other places. What I ordered: 1. Caldo de pollo (chicken soup) 2. Tacos dorado (hard shell tacos [chicken]) The food was the closest I've ever come to a home cooked meal. The soup was so hearty and flavorful I didn't need to put anything in it (but I did put lemon, cilantro, and onion because that's how I like it). The hard shell tacos are what drove me to come here initially after a recommendation from my father and they did not disappoint! The food is extremely presentable and it was hard to take a picture because I wanted to take a bit of it so bad! The chips and salsa are good also. They have a large selection of alcohol. The restaurant has the typical Mexican feel and they have lots of room for guests. They played mariachi music while I ate which is also one of my favorite genres to listen to. I will be bringing my family to this location. The service was great and I came during the week and I was 1 of 4 tables/ guests. We were here for lunch and I got an Asada/carnitas burrito ($9.95) which came with beans, cheese, onion, tomato & cilantro and it was great - very tasty! Girlfriend got a shrimp/ asada burrito and it was the show stopper - their shrimp is amazing here. Sergio's is the best! I have been a fan since they were in Glendora. Back then they were the only authentic Mexican food in town. When they left ( sadly) we were left with meh basic non authentic Mexican food. Wasn't the same since. Then, behold! We discovered they moved to Fontana!!!! What a wonderful surprise when it was discovered that Sergio's was owned and managed by the same family and the menu was just as we remembered . Delicious and authentic! I'm lucky to live closer now, my family now drives out from Glendora when they are craving the burritos, tacos, basically all of their menu because it's all delicious, great portions and service. In my hungry rush to find a 4 star Mexican restaurant I landed her me at Sergio's. All I can really say is this place is truly filthy. It wasn't until I finished my combo chili relleno and beef enchilada (which passed as mediocre) that I noticed how badly this place needs a good clean. The floors and door mats were covered in what appeared to be days old droppings. When I went to the counter to pay my bill, I glanced over at the service area and could not help being horrified at the mess. The final straw was the filthy bathroom where I simply washed my hands good and headed out. Not sure if restaurant grades are a thing here, but clearly there was none posted. The staff is really friendly and awesome. The food is delicious. Their salsa and chips are delicious and complimentary. My picky eaters aka 5 & 9 year old ate their beef hard shell tacos, chicken taquitos, rice and beans. My shrimp tacos and my husband's carne asada fajitas were delicious. This place surprised me, I'm not gonna lie! From the outside appearance, I was unsure of what to think of this place. But as soon as I walked in, I thought that it was gonna be a solid place to eat. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and seated at a location of our choosing. The gentlemen who helped us immediately wiped down our table and let us know that they'd be right with us. Immediately our waiter came up and the team brought us some complimentary chips and salsa and it was pretty good. Our waiter joked with us a little bit and established that he wasn't just another NPC/robot in the world which was nice and then we ordered our food. I got a combination plate of shrimp taco with the chili relleno and rice and beans. My mom got the taquitos with the chile relleno and rice beans. Let me say that this food was so good that I ate every last bite of mine and also ate some of my mom's left over chili relleno. Not only that, but I think that this place had the best chili relleno that I've ever had. It was the perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and pepper. I felt like I got the best of each item - which was surprising because most people treat chili relleno like it's not a big deal and they just slop a broken pepper with very little cheese and way too much sauce together and call it good. But at Sergio's, they made it with purpose and care. I really loved it. Their rice was fantastic too. Everything tasted truly authentic. I'm definitely gonna be coming back here to try more things. Came here for an early dinner and was our first time trying it. When we arrived, we were greeted by a gentleman and let us pick our table. We ordered the following: Pineapple Agua Fresca: 10/10 perfectly balanced and sweet. Red Enchilada: 6/10 sauce was more on the starchy side. Not my favorite. Shredded beef was good though. Crispy taco: 9/10 this would be a 10 if they added more cheese and used fresh grated cheese Chile relleno: 7/10 ours happened to be spicy (but I love spice) and the sauce was ok. I wasn't a huge fan of it. Beans: 10/10 BOMB, perfectly salted!!! Rice: 5/10 on the dry bland side. I will opt for double beans next time. Also, they offer Menudo EVERY DAY!!! I was able to sample the broth and it was good. Solid 7.5/8 out 10! Definitely will be back to try it! Also, chips and salsa were delicious! Our server was awesome and very nice!!! Let me start of by saying the services is 10/10 I placed an ordered thru grub hub and my asada burrito did not make it with my order. I called right away, the man who answered said it was not a problem and they would make it for me then have someone bring it to me. Usually when something is left of of a delivery the restaurant makes you go pick it up or offers other options. So I am extremely satisfied with the customer service because the restaurant hand delivered my burrito. Now my fiancé is the one who wanted the Asada burrito and he has tried many in the area but he said this one was literally his favorite. We had not found a burrito he liked until now! We will be definitely coming back because I need to try it myself lol. I ordered two molitas one with grilled chicken and one of carnitas and man those were delicious! My favorite was definitely the carnitas but they both were flavorful and made with homemade corn tortillas! The horchata was extremely good probably my favorite in the area. Last but not least the Chile verde, now I'm very picky when it comes to Chile verde because I make it myself and I tend to like it a bit spicy. I seen the reviews for it and decided to try it.
