Ordered the chorizo and egg torta and the Milanesa torta. The woman who took our order seemed really bothered that we came in and even more so when we didn't have our order ready right away. One of my favorite comfort foods is a good, authentic Mexican torta with carne asada. I came by today for lunch, hoping to satiate my appetite as I have happily frequented Ebenezer's many times before. The restaurant was empty, except for one customer who had just picked up an order to go before me. The music was *blaring* cumbia music. I personally love cumbia, but that would be intimidating for someone unfamiliar with the restaurant or music taste. Alas, my order was taken. The only question I received was whether I wanted "jalapeno or chipotle." I went with jalapeno. Then the music was turned back up. Upon receiving my order, I noticed the wrapping of my torta wasn't wrapped all the way. I had to make sure I wrapped it myself to ensure the contents didn't fall out. My torta looked delicious as it usually is. The bread and toppings were on point - the bread was soft (and not too bread-y) and well portioned. There was plenty of avocado and my requested jalapenos. My biggest issue lay in the quality of the carne asada. The carne asada was more of a tough and chewy texture and seemed to be seasoned unevenly. I had salty areas of my torta, and the other would be unsalted. Unfortunately, it was not the quality of meat that I would recommend. Food, I went twice in one day. Stopped in, got a couple of tacos (1 chicken, 1 steak). They were great! Went back with a friend later so he could try them out. He was super happy with the El Pastor burrito he got. Service, no complaints. Prompt, polite and pleasant. The two young ladies were great! Thank you. Ambience, it was calm and quiet. Most important. Signs were up that they were open, but when we walked in we were told that there was no service. Patrons were inside that hadn't been served just yet. If you're closed then you're closed, but here's a thought; take your open sign out of the window and flip the other one over. Stopped by this delightful restaurant in an old house on Wells for lunch today. I had a quesadilla with fajita steak and their homemade salsa and a little side of sour cream... Even accounting, for the fact that I had just finished working hard at a noon time martial arts class, this was some of the best, Mexican, American food I've had in many years . I had been in once before to try their tacos... Which were also excellent. Not that long ago, I think this place used to be just a food truck and then they landed a physical location with a bigger kitchen... I used to love coming here but when the new management came they have the worst customer service. I asked for a plain torta de asada and they made it with avocados, jalapeños and tomatoes. This was such a good find. We were told to head over to Wells to find some good Hispanic food options. This being directly off Wells we pulled over asap. We tried the torta, some tacos, and a quesadilla. 10/10. The carne asada was bomb, and the overall quality was just delicious street food we've been looking for. We tried the mango juice and wow. The sandwich I got was a Hawaiiana. It had pineapple in it, so I guess that's what makes it Hawaiian. There was also two different kinds of meat, which was ham and beef. So they used to have the best asada torta in town but it looks like they decided to choke the goose that lays the golden eggs to get more eggs faster. They found only a dead goose. I usually get the Spicy Pork Torta with Chipotle because the spicy pork is so tender. It has chipotle sauce, guacamole, and some other amazing stuff... :) I once got the King Kong which has everything and it was good but not as great as my spicy pork preference! I live right around the corner so I decided to try this today. I was really excited after reading the reviews and hearing from a friend how good it was. When I read the menu it sounded great. I like the toppings they have. I ordered the Milanesa torta, the lady asked if I wanted jalepeños or chipotle. I got it with jalapeños When I got home, I opened the wrapper and could see it oozing with chipotle sauce (I hate chipotles) the Milanesa was soggy and not warm. It was a below average torta.
