I was craving tacos after my oldest child had street tacos for dinner last night (they looked delicious!) so I decided to get some tacos today for lunch. My friend also tagged along with me. I still believe Daddy's Tacos has some of the best tacos out there. Didn't have a complaint there. Plus, I will always recommend them to anybody looking for some good Mexican food. But today was kind of a let down. As far as my 3 taco combo plate, it was delicious and I didn't have any complaints there. I wasn't too happy with my birria tamale though. It was dry, hard, and maybe that's why they include consumé with it, to make it not too dry. I couldn't really enjoy it even with the consumé. My friend really enjoyed her food and thought it was delicious. But I was upset because she had to pay extra for sour cream even though she asked what was included with the flautas plate. She asked if sour cream and guacamole was included and the only thing the person who was taking our order asked if my friend wanted to order those. So my friend assumed they didn't come with the plate and told her yes. She never used the extra sour cream and it just went into the trash. My friend also asked for two chicken and two beef flautas and even though it was on the receipt, she ended up having all chicken flautas. A small lack of attention. This one mishap won't stop me from eating there again, but maybe the paper menus need to be updated to include what comes with a plate. It's been a while since we've been to Daddy's Tacos and now we're wondering why! We had a great lunch of Menudo and a breakfast burrito. Menudo is only served on the weekends, so it was a treat to go on a Sunday. It's just a bit too spicy for me (just my preference) but the tripe was very tender snd delicious. I recommend that you get the large portion rather than the small. I think it's a better value to get the bigger size. The small size was pretty small for $9, as opposed to $12 for the larger size. To the chef, I respectfully recommend adding more hominy as there was not very many in my small portion. My hubby loved his breakfast burrito. Great flavors and a great portion size. The service from the register staff was wonderful and we were checked on numerous times to see if everything was okay. Love the care that the staff provides to check on their diners. We ordered a catering pickup order for my birthday. This was the best idea we have had for an easy bday party yet. Food was hot and ready right at the time it was supposed to be. All the food we ordered and the meat was cold. There was nothing hot and fresh it tasted dry and flavorless. The people working here were so rude and wouldn't even bother helping us when we complained to them about how cold the food was. The lady said "this is what makes our nachos different to everybody else's" in what world would anybody make their nachos with cold cheese and cold meat. I've loved this place since their opening! My work is right next door, and they even offer a neighbors discount, major bonus points. During our company's recent move, we were here a lot, and every visit was consistently great. On my most recent trip, I met my husband for lunch. Ordered takeout from Daddy's Tacos expecting a rich, messy birria experience and it definitely started off strong. The birria tacos were the standout. The meat was tender, juicy, and well seasoned with real depth of flavor. This is what you go there for. The rice and beans were also solid and held up well alongside the tacos. The tortillas leaned a bit greasy and could have used more char to add texture and balance. The consommé did not hit the same level. It lacked richness and depth and needed more seasoning to really bring everything together. Lime helped, but it still felt flat. The carne asada quesadilla was the biggest miss. It came out burnt and completely inedible. The cheese had an artificial, almost plastic like texture that threw everything off, and it ended up getting tossed. I don't know if I'm lucky or unfortunate at daddy's. Tacos is not in South Reno because I think if it was in there weekly. For me, daddy's Tacos was loved at first bite, but with the location, I'm not always in the area though. I do crave it often. Earlier this year I got to visit and I discovered a few new items that I can't stop raving about! Now they are known for their quesabirria, but the truth is there are some serious gems on the menu. For me, their chicken Tinga and cochinita pibil are absolute stunners. Tinga is juicy and tender with a deep rich flavor and a slight spice. The cochinita has a spicy sweetness that I just can't get enough of, and looking at it you can tell it is made from a whole pork shoulder, perfectly slow cooked, seasoned and shredded, and excellent in any of their dishes! I was in the area today with intense hunger, so I popped in and got one taco of each, topped them both with the hot and mild salsa and a squeeze of lime, plus a healthy side of pickled jalapeños, and it was just the perfect lunch. Not too heavy, not too late and absolutely delicious. This was the first time not getting the tacos quesa style, and honestly, I think I enjoyed them more though these meats are very juicy and so they did so the tortilla a little bit not that I'm complaining! Oh yeah, and the tacos come stuffed with so much meat. You get to take a few bites of the fork before folding them up and mowing them down. We went to their taco truck at the Dozers & Dirt Event. We ordered the quesabirria tacos & the chicken fries, along with the horchata. Everything was really good!!! The event was busy & the food truck was super busy, but everyone working was still so nice & took the time to answer my questions. Prices were surprisingly reasonable. The best Al Pastor! The Cochinat Pibil is legendary and hots all the checkmarks! The breakfast burritos are epic along with the tortas. Staff is always as friendly on point and get out orders very fast. I love the Horchata here, but just wish they stocked Topo Chico or Minerauga sprkling waters! Perfect food deserves a perfect bubbly, non alcoholic drink. They have a nice case by the register that features locally made items from a few bakeries and dessert places in town. You need to try them. After Christmas, get down there immediately and get the Birria tamales, thank me later. Food is very subjective and I have been following them since they were a food truck . While we were there, we couldn't resist ordering a couple of tacos to try--and we're so glad we did. I chose al pastor, carnitas and birria for my taco meat choices and the food arrived, it was pretty substantial; the meat was tender and so plentiful that it broke the tortillas. Each meat had a good distinct flavor, seasoned well and sufficiently spicy but not too hot to be inedible. The refried beans were made with whole beans instead of the typical mashed beans; it was tasty. I also liked the rice but wished there was more of it. Overall, the combo was good: plenty of food, very satisfying and reasonably priced. I had a lunch date while on my hour lunch yesterday. We had a taco plate combo and I ordered their infamous quesadilla and a keto shell with grilled chicken. We sat at their bar and the lady that took care of us was awesome! The AC helped cool us down and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the amazing service. This was my second visit. Legitimately found styrofoam in my al pastor taco. At first I thought it maybe was a spice but it was black and rubbery like I could not physically pull it apart. It was 100% styrofoam, probably from the meat packaging. We also ordered chips and Guac for $10 and it was the tiniest cup of guac i have ever gotten. We finished the Guac within 7 chips.
