    Friday night eats 4/11:26

If you're in the mood for a burger, I'd put this little food truck at the top of your list to check out. I don't eat a lot of burgers these days, but this American smashburger was worth it. Two patties smashed between two slices of melty American cheese .. I forego other toppings so I reallly get the taste and it was delicious. I've been wanting to come here for a long time, as I learned about their story on instagram. The husband travels from Vegas every Thursday for the weekend to cook up some delicious burgers for us Reno folks. His wife who I think took our order was so amazing to cook my patties and throw them on a gluten free bun I brought. I ate one French fry because they are battered but oooooh almost work getting sick just to eat them. My husband better thank me for putting this on his radar. We will absolutely be back.

New truck, same great food. I love the Barrio Thursday specials. Family operated by Eddie & Carla these Mexican Style Smash Burgers are really tasty. The wait can be long not because of bad service, but because it is that popular.

Inventive burgers with really solid flavor combinations. These aren't smash burgers in the traditional sense, they lean more Mexican-style, and the patties are on the thinner side. They're a little messy in the best way, though, and everything is well seasoned and intentional. Worth it. The setting is part of the charm. Barrio is posted up at Filthy McNasty's, super chill vibe with picnic benches, friendly crowd, and when I rolled in they were literally setting up a heat lamp to keep things comfortable. Felt welcoming right away. Service was good, people were genuinely nice, and it's the kind of spot you can hang at without feeling rushed. Easy place to come back to for burgers and a relaxed night

Barrio Burger is so good! The burgers are packed with flavor -- even the bun tastes amazing. The grilled jalapeño is HOT (in the best way) and adds the perfect kick. Staff was super friendly and helpful too. Definitely coming back!

I cant believe I havent posted a review yet! Ok, so for anyone who says their hours and times are unreliable, you should really be following Barrio Burgers on their social media accounts like Instagram. I've personally found that they are VERY 1. Personable and 2. Communicative But anyway, back to the important stuff- THE FOOD!!! Deep fried crustables are required whenever me and my husband go, whether we're full or not. Theyre so tasty. The BURGERS NEVER MISS!!! My husband loves the shrimp burger and I love the mushroom burger (add bacon) Barrio Burgers is the total package, the fries and mexican pickle (my tokened name for the jalapeño on the side) are just as tasty as the burgers themselves. Love this place so much I havent even been inside the bar they're usually posted at, I already feel like a good nap after I eat there. They make you feel like youre family when you visit so bring yours. Can be a little chilly in the fall and winter months so make sure youre dressed appropriately.

Omg I'm drooling over these menus!

Beyond perfect and absolutely worth any wait time! The service is incredible every single time. Erick and Carla and their crew work so hard and deserve so much love and support. They are all such great people. They always maintain the absolute tip top quality of every burger they've ever made, including the seasoned fries no matter how many orders they have. I get so excited for the burgers, especially the mushroom and Swiss. And also the bacon and cheddar (pro tip, add a fried egg with this one). But the fries! They are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their homemade ranch is also fantastic! I'm obsessed with the seasoning too. There's so many other choices that they offer. I'm definitely trying that deep fried uncrustables soon! I need that kind of positivity in my life, like all the time. We love you Carla, Erick, and crew. You all deserve the absolute best.

I visited Barrio Burger on a Thursday when they run their $10 dollar promotion. Unfortunately, my experience was different this time. We were made aware that it was going to be a while for us to get our order which we were completely fine with, we don't mind waiting for food as long as it's served fresh. When we got our order my husband's burger looked and tasted good but it was obvious that my burger had been sitting for a while. The whole thing was cold, the bun was flat, the fries smelled like they were fried in old oil and had a port like smell to them. Having waited an hour for our order I was very disappointed. I truly enjoy their burgers and hope that the next time I visit I get the same quality I am use to, maybe I will skip Thursdays!

This food truck has one of my favorite burgers in town. This includes traditional burgers, gourmet burgers and smash burgers. I've tried all of their burger options and haven't been disappointed yet. Besides being some of the best tasting burgers, they even have the best priced options. Every burger comes with perfectly crispy fries and a spicy grilled jalapeño. This is the spot I recommend to all of my friends, you won't be disappointed!

Honest food review: That char is done just right- 5/5 When my buddy said, barrio burgers I thought... barrio in Spanish means these are either going to be amazing, or slap me around and let's just say they slapped me around in the right way! American: 5/5 -The American is the first option available for order, so you have to try the original and let's just say... it gets you to an adventure that I'm about to share with you all. With smash burgers, understand that there is an art to getting the right level of Maillard reaction with just enough char, when I tell you that you get a fatty, juicy, and smashed right burger, your mouth goes on a texture flow. From the crispy bite that meets a delicious sauce, and fresh shredduce and tomatoes, you have onions that aren't sooooo strong but give it enough of a sweet just tingle as your taste buds want to go in for another bite. When you think of a smashed burger... this hits most buckets you could ask for. The fries were texturally pleasing and tasted pretty good with the homemade ranch they sell. Deep fried PB&J: 7/5 -I have tasted some pretty amazing hole in the wall finds, as well as some fine dining bites, but... let me tell you that the simplicity of these almost churro like textured sugar and cinnamon mini tacos as I'll call them.... Left me in shock. The unexpected bite that I took as everyone was trying them, not expecting the marriage of pb&j to stun me... left me with almost a tear in my eye... it was such a Deja vu moment of deliciousness that I can tell you... would definitely please many looking for a small dessert. Definitely recommend

Service excellent, ambiance meh, need more shade during the hotter months for those of us that burn easily The food. One bacon and cheese and one mushroom Swiss both with sauce on top and bottom. Honestly, they were both good burgers. I told my wife that the mushroom Swiss was the best one I have had in the area. We would love to have them again but don't plan to do so standing outside in the elements (old people here ). Why a four instead of a five. We were charged more than expected. It was roughly 30 cents or so, so maybe a tax error?

First off, I have to admit I completely underestimated the magnitude of this event as Idlewild Park was pretty poppin and parking was nearly impossible. After we finally found a spot to park, we grabbed out chairs and headed to the Park. After picking our spots by the duck pond, we walked around a bit to survey the offerings. We tried three different trucks and sampled some pretty delicious bites. Some of the lines were a long wait and some were moving along pretty fine. But there's pretty much something for everyone. I would definitely hit this up again, but probably try to arrive earlier to plan better parking. It was a bit of a challenge navigating this for the first time, but at least I know what to expect now. I really wish my hometown had something like this. May try it again later this summer.

Maybe them closing is the reason, who knows. Anyways so far all 3 places have been better than the ones I go to in the bay area, at least on the peninsula. There is some good ones, but not exactly quick and easy as Hawaiian bbq should be. Walked in at lunch time. Decent amount of people there around that time. I liked that they had outdoor benches, cool looking inside with the food truck decor and window to look into the kitchen. Staff greeted me quickly and was friendly. I'm far from a picky eater and when trying new places, i like to let the staff steer the ship. They most likely have tried the whole menu, have their favorites, and if I don't like it, it's probably not worth going back to try anything else. Good looking plate. First thing I noticed eating it, this felt a lot cleaner than most Hawaiian BBQ places. It's not caked in sauce or wasn't swimming on a marinade for days. It was seasoned nicely, was tender, and not going to be a sodium bomb. I usually see most places give more white rice (2 scoops), but probably a good thing they didn't, because I would have ate it and been overly stuffed. Mac salad was balanced, light, nice palette cleanser. That said, Mac salad on its own isn't something that would be able to stand alone. Better than L&L, but that isn't saying much. Back to the service. They came to check on me, see how I was enjoying the food, and also recommended I try the hot sauce thets made in house. That was a nice change from the siracha that is everywhere. Not very spicy, but has a kick and paired well with the plate. I'll be back, but I'm sure I'll try something new. Most likely the tacos. I was tempted to get it this trip, but knew it would put me into a food coma.

The food was ready on time and was able to be set up right before the reception began. The food was amazing and several attendees had never heard of or had Kenji's. The spam fried rice was the big hit and almost all of it was eaten. Several attendees were impressed with the quality and flavor of the food.
