Dr. Dougherty is fantastic; he is knowledgeable, patient, and truly listens. It is wonderful to see how much respect he shows his employees, and the quality of his work is consistently excellent. Place tried to overcharge my wife on a cleaning service. She mentioned she only wanted the cleaning…read morethat was covered by her insurance. The dental hygienist and front desk worker reassured her that what was being done would be covered. Then they tried to bill her over $300 for services. The front desk worker called regarding the payment to which my wife said she didn't feel comfortable paying for services that were declined and agreed upon. The worker said she'd speak with the dentist. Days later she received a voicemail from the front desk lady admitting to it being her fault for not checking what was covered. Days later the office sent a break up letter saying how it's best for both the office and my wife to not continue their patient practice relationship. Not our fault your worker relayed incorrect information and were trying to charge more then was agreed. Otherwise the cleaning was through.

My old practice was a single dentist, a few dental assistants and a receptionist. You spend your entire visit with the dentist and he provides you an honest summary of your visit. The total visit is under a half hour. Biltmore Commons has 6 Dentists and at least that many dental hygienist and more dental assistants and receptionists. You spend the majority of your visit with your hygienist and about 2 minutes with the dentist. Because there is so much overhead you get a Spirit Airlines experience where you are constantly getting upsold nonsense. The hygienists are more like used car salesmen than people who clean your teeth. I have been to this place twice and they have tried selling me laser treatment ($100) night guards ($800), Invisilign, a Waterpick ($120), an additional cleaning, and they were going to try to sell me an electric toothbrush if I didn't already have one. The hygienists don't give up the entire visit until you say yes to something. The dentist never says you need any of these things. I never went through with any of these scams. And I will not be going to Biltmore Commons ever again. My first visit was 2 hours (with x-rays) and my second was almost an hour (without x-rays). I have a life and my time is not valued. My recommendation is to find a dentist with less overhead where they can pay for their practice with just regular dental work and not ancillary products.

I recently learned that many of the techs are contractors who float between offices. Building trust with a consistent care team is very important to me, especially since I've had bad experiences in the past. I specifically scheduled a procedure with a dentist I liked during my cleaning, only to arrive at my appointment and find an unknown dentist assigned to do the work with zero notice. This lack of consistency is clearly affecting their administrative accuracy as well. During my last visit, the reception told me I was there for a cavity filling, which was incorrect. Furthermore, they asked why I was "refusing" a night guard, even though I already own one that I purchased from THIS office years ago. It is unacceptable to feel like a stranger at your own dentist's office after five years. Unfortunately, my trust in this office has completely eroded. If you value seeing a consistent provider who actually knows your dental history, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

What sets Risas apart for us, beyond the excellent care, is the pricing. Dr B is so amazing! He has a wonderful sense of humor that makes the entire office a joyful environment and greatly reduces the anxiety of a dental visit. I had to have dentures placed and he was so gentle and did such an amazing job surgically that my recovery was unbelievably quick and not nearly as painful as I had anticipated. He had to remove all my remaining teeth due to a medication I was on for 6 months that caused my teeth to become brittle and break at the gum line. I did not have one bruise, or even the slightest swelling. He is THAT GENTLE and is truly exceptional in his technique. I will always recommend this wonderful amazing dental group. I like that they offer us an annual plan with them as we don't have dental insurance right now. It's very helpful - ask about it if you need it and they'll send you the inclusions. From the moment I walked in, the experience was great. Gabby at the front desk was very friendly, and the check in process was quick and easy. Dr. Harris was knowledgeable, straightforward, and took the time to explain his assessment. He let me know that the cavity could actually be filled without needing a crown or root canal, which was a huge relief. I was able to schedule the filling within the next week, and the procedure went very smoothly. The dental assistant, Gabino, was incredibly calming and helpful throughout the entire process, from getting me numb to making sure I was comfortable during the procedure.
