Dr Turner has to understand that the hardest thing to do is gain a customer and the easiest thing…read moreto do is lose them. I won't go into my specifics except to say I have come to realize that her action plans may have more to do with the bottom line and less to do with what the patients need.

This is a chronological summary of my experience with Venice Periodontics and implant surgery. The…read moreperiod covered is approx, one year (2024 thru present). I was referred to this office for the removal of a maxillary molar tooth and consultation for an implant. The dentist was confident that she would be able to successfully perform the implant procedure (with a sinus lift and bone grafting). The ( FIRST) implant was performed several months after tooth extraction. I was told by the dental assistant that the dentist would not perform the implant without sufficient bone formation. Upon arrival for first step of the dental implant, i was medicated, (typical sedation) , i was not alert and the implant was placed. i was never informed as to whether enough bone was generated but procedure went forward. Within the next 20 to 30 hrs, i was experiencing severe pain and could not breathe out of one side of nose. I called the Dentist's office. I explained my situation. I expected to be told to come to the office for an immediate evaluation. The response was that i had much work done, the pain was normal and to be expected. The pain and difficulty breathing got worse, necessitating a visit to my primary care doctor for medication to decrease the inflammation from the obvious infection and something to aid in breathing. Within a few months, i returned to Dr. Lisa Turner's office for the next step of the implant procedure. She commented to her newest assistant that everything looked great. Two minutes later, it was obvious that the implant did not integrate with bone and was loose. (certainly looked like peri-implantitis might have been the obvious issue). There was no explanation as to why I was never invited to come to the office after the very early signs of infection. In fact, the dentist never spoke to me. It was the admin or assistant. At this point, I was told by the dentist that she would investigate. I was never informed about what she did or did not discover during the so called investigation. I was told that she would start a second implant in a few months Everything seemed to go well with 2nd implant , including the first follow up visit. At the next visit the dentist commented to her new newest dental assistant that (looks like dental assistant turn over, this new assistant was being taught and corrected as i was in the chair) everything looked very good. Within the next few minutes, it was determined that the second implant was also loose. At this point the dentist asked if me there was anything wrong with me and that this must be systemic problem with me, (diabetes, etc.) She made me feel quite uncomfortable and concerned about my general health. I promptly informed the dentist that there was nothing systemically wrong with me as indicated through recent blood work. I was told by her that hygiene was not the problem and that this never happens to her . I was not provided with an explanation for the for second failure in a year. At this point she spun down my own blood and explained that she would use the a portion of the spun down blood (protein or plasma enriched to promote healing. She took the time to show me blood layers in a tube of my blood. (I was a bioanalyical scientist many years , again, silliness. Explanation was more of a pacification and i guess was to make me feel better). i was told that we would let this heal and try a 3rd time if I was still interested (of course, that was a ridiculous offer. I cant imagine why anyone would have continued to see this dentist unless they wanted to experience pain and failure). To be completely transparent, the 2nd implant was discounted for materials but i must have given this office approx. 7,000 dollars, maybe more. After all of this i was told that i still owed approx. 1,500 dollars (again, rediculous). Also, i must say the dentist was reluctant to release my imaging to another specialist. This is what I was told from new office. I was told by a more experience dentist that the 2nd implant never should have been performed prior to determining why the first implant failed. Finally, i want to echo a review for this office. I inquired via phone as to whether i needed a medication several days before the next implant. I was told no on the day before the procedure. On the date of the 2nd implant, I was asked if i took the prescribed medication. I explained that the admin said not necessary. I was then given the medication and was told that all pre - op calls provide a generic message or something to that effect. I am currently seeing another dentist . I suggested that Dr. Turner's office refund at least half of the money they received . ( I did not receive a cent) . Severe pain , no results and thousands of dollars for nothing! BTW, others have told me that this dentist's technique is a bit rough, to say the least The above is my opinion, nothing more and nothing less.
