Nice to find a dedicated tailor in the area, and the nice couple who runs Total fashion have been in business for decades in the Seattle area. I have brought in mainly pants here to shorten and hem, and the prices are quite reasonable for the area. If you need a rush, they can also accommodate although I find their normal turnaround time good enough. read more

Decided to try this place based on the Yelp reviews. I had wanted the straps shortened on a dress. She did not want to pin it so I couldn't tell how short it would be. In the end, we got it to the right level, but it was sewn crookedly and the edges were fraying since it was just cut and not serged. Also, the angle of one of the straps was different than the other. I was going to just ask a friend to redo it but the entire stitching came undone on one side so I went back to have it redone. She made me wait another few days versus just fixing it the same-day. I expected that she would prioritize it after all the hassle. It was finally corrected and looks great but I was very nervous about this. I shouldn't have brought an item that I really cared about to a place I'd never tried before, just based on Yelp reviews. Nordstrom wouldn't add pockets to my linen clothing (Sarah Clemens Clothing, you can't get them any more on etsy) but Total Fashion did a great job. They warned me that you can see a bit of the lining (since the pants weren't designed and sewn with pockets on them - but honestly wearing them you can't see much and the difference between having pockets and not makes garments much more wearable. I think it helped that I brought an example of Sarah Clemens linen pants that DID have pockets, to use as a pattern but I suspect they've done enough pockets it didn't matter that much. Great work, one week turnaround time for about half dozen pairs of pants. read more

Total fashion saved my behind last month for my best friend's wedding. I had ordered my bridesmaid dress online and had had it for months, however I procrastinated until the last minute to get it altered. I first took my dress to Nordstrom at southcenter since I am a card holder and had credits for alterations. In rare Nordstrom fashion, the tailor straight up turned the job down as I did not purchase the dress from the department store. I love Nordstrom, buy was honestly disappointed by this response. With no local tailor in mind, I was at a standstill. I work up on Phinny Ridge during the work week so quickly browsed for tailors on Yelp. I came across Total Fashion and figured that with a week left before leaving for the wedding, that I didn't have many options. I was delighted by the shop. It's nothing fancy, but it's the kind of place where you would imagine that they could see anything from yoga pants, fine Italian suits, etc. I was warmly greeted and measured. The tailor took my dress and rung me up and asked when I needed it by. She had it ready in a week. And it looked great for the wedding. The price was a little high at around $100, I thought. However, after talking to the other bridesmaids, others paid twice as much for lower quality work. I think I found my place to get my jeans hemmed and tapered! :) I brought in 3 pairs of jeans ~4 days ago. I came in asking for hem and tapering of my jeans (that are petites but still much too long for my 5'1" self). They welcomed me very warmly. It was a very fast and friendly process! There is a changing room to the right once you enter. I tried on each pair, and came out and she quickly and safely pinned each pant to the right length and taper. Overall total was about ~$85 (with a $10 tip I added at payment, with all the great reviews I think I knew my pants were in great hands!) which I thought was reasonable considering how much I spent on my jeans themselves. I just retrieved the pants today. Sun took them out of the bag I originally brought them in and showed me her tapering/hem before letting me leave which I really appreciated. I was very happy with the results. Once I got home, they fit like a glove! I now have jeans that I feel confident in that I hope will last me for years. I look forward to come in for other pieces I have been putting off to getting altered! :) Also another note, parking and location is very easy to find! read more
