I live in Hamilton, the Purcellville office cleaned my pool while I traveled in the summer. The service tech left a checklist after only 1 of 3 visits I was invoiced for, and it was not as complete/comprehensive as other pool companies so I'm not sure what was done. I had dropped off a water sample before I left but never got the results back. The storm on May 16 of this year caused 3 of my neighbors pine trees to fall on my pool causing considerable damage to the cover although we weren't sure if there was damage to the actual pool sides/bottom. When I called the office to come out, assess damage, and give me a price estimate to clean out the pool, I was told '"it's our busy season, but we can try to get out there next week." Today, Aug. 4, a young man from Total Pools came out to assess damage. (I had spoken to 6 pool companies, 2 came out to the site to assess, 1 performed the cleanout and measured/quoted a price for a new cover.) read more

We have used Total Pools and Service since having our pool installed 5 years ago. They have always provided knowledgeable answers to our questions ---always with a smile and professional demeanor. We recently had an issue where we contacted the pool builder about a possible warranty issue (return pump was cracked). Builder got back to us a day after we left an urgent message. We told them what was going on and asked specifically if this would be covered under a warranty. They looked into it got back to us a day later and said no warranty--that we are out due to when plaster was finished. They sent us a quote the following day for $1200. Talked to our friends at Total Pools and Service and come to find out it was covered under warranty. Absolutely first class. read more

I have had nothing but issues with Total Pools this season. The employees are ill-trained, and have no knowledge of parts they have on hand. Apparently, their system does not keep track of inventory. We needed to replace a valve, and ended up having to order the part online, due to the ineptness of the employees. They also do not provide detailed receipts--only the credit card receipts. I had gotten some chemicals based on a water sample, only to find out that they did not give me enough of one chemical. I asked them if I had paid for 2 bags, since I did not have a detailed receipt, and they could not tell me. I bought the bag I needed, and left in absolute disgust. I did not like the fact that I had to come back because they did not give me enough of the chemical to balance my pool. I have worked in Customer Service, and I can tell you that they are severely lacking in that department. read more

Friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful with keeping the water chemistry correct.

Is ok for basic pool maintenance, sort of keeping it clean and in good chem balance. However, as they have grown the generalized competence level has dropped. Anything complex at all, needing a repair gets pushed to the back of the line and requires multiple phone calls. Now we are told that they do not want to work with us anymore since our dogs are a pain (even though everytime they come the dogs are put away) and our pool is old and they don't want to work with it. The Service from Total Pools has always been first class. They have been opening, closing my Pool for years. I have never had any issues. Whenever anything unexpected comes up during the Pool Season they have been very responsive with suggestions on the best way to address the issue. They even provide me with instructions on how I can address the issue myself to save me money. They do this even though it would be taking $$$ away from the business. I really like Justin and his wife that run the business. They are always so pleasant and nice. I didn't use them initially and this is our first pool. I didn't have a great experience with a someone a friend recommended to open our pool so I went to total pools for a "pool education." Justin came out to our house showed me what I need to do. I buy my supplies from there too. I go to Total Pools for water testing every few days. I am having them install a pool heater too. I feel lucky to have met them and that they are soooo close to our house. read more

These guys are the best! They have maintained my pool for 6 years and I have never found anything to complain about. Justin is a great guy, and his crew are very responsive and dependable. In time-sensitive cases, they have immediately showed up to address the problem. I cannot imagine how people could afford to use pool service by people who are miles away! We have had our pool for six years now and we have been using the same pool company for five of those years....until we found Total Pools! These folks are AWESOME! If you have a pool and need assistance in maintaining, opening, closing and handling service requests this is your forever pool company! They do not stand by their products and assume that the pool owner is not capable of following instructions so any issues have to be with the owner. I will not shop here anymore. Separately, the pool supplies at other stores are generally less expensive. read more
