My time at total release was so relaxing and lovely. My masseuse really listened to me and hit the spots that were the most problematic. You have the option to take off your clothes and keep them on. No fuss just a truly great massages. Facility was clean and staff was kind. Total release is a true gem.

So wonderful! This place along with Bliss Reflexology spa probably rank as my favorite places to de-stress and relax in the DC/MD area. I think Mr. Wei was my masseur... but I was so relaxed that I forgot to ask for his name. You know it's a good massage when you suddenly don't know if your own soft snores woke you up. WAS I SNORING?! If so, that's embarrassing. Oops. Oh wells. When the massage was over, I had trouble climbing off the massage bed and walking out the door. That's just how wonderful it was! Parking: There's street parking - the meters during normal hours are only for an hour I believe... but there's 2 hour street parking. Location: It's located in an office suite... but once you find 5506, just go up the stairs and the office is located to the right at the end of the hall on the left. Service: Very friendly... making the appointment was super easy to do. Ambience: Very nice. Many of the reflexology/acupressure places I've gone to have only curtains that separate the beds ... this one actually has walls and a door to separate the massage space from other spaces and the waiting area. The music they play is probably the most soothing. Mr Wei is very good at pinpointing all the muscles that are tight (he knew exactly where I needed work) ... and gave just the right amount of pressure. Also, this is the best reflexology place in town, by far! A lot of places tend to breeze through the feet... a little pressure here and there and then they're done! But here, I could feel him working on all the parts of my feet ... imagine those little reflexology charts you see. The price is very affordable for this area ... (I had a groupon deal)... Definitely will be coming back again and again.

The entrance is in between the Greek restaurant and the bagel bakery

AMAZING acupressure from Lian - better than any massage or acupuncture I've ever received! And pretty affordable! Try them out!

OK, REWIND! Unwind Wellness has won me and my partner over…read more We really haven't stopped daydreaming about our experience ever since and are looking forward to our next spa date. We had such a pleasant encounter with the receptionist, Nicole, from the moment we walked in and were placed with 2 masseuses who were top-tier and gifted with the art of touch. Our couples massage was beyond rejuvenating and serene for each of us and we were truly able to decompress (and leave a lot of muscle knots behind on the table)! We both left feeling SO much lighter, connected within our bodies and to each other, and grateful we accepted the offer to give Unwind another chance. I am so impressed with the level of intention and care that the owner, Antonio, has displayed in making sure that we were in the absolute best hands the second time around. He was very apologetic that we had an off day on our first visit and really turned things a total 180. It's evident that he is passionate about his business, is extremely detail-oriented (the decor is GORGEOUS!), and has strived to exceed the 5-star reputation his establishment deserves. In a world where self-care tends to be an afterthought or a treat, I'm feeling inspired to carve out time to visit Unwind Wellness on a regular basis. I'm so glad I found the right match (and might have to gatekeep my masseuse's name because she is THAT good)!

If I could give Erin and her practice zero stars I would. 2…read moreyears ago I contacted MHW to become a new patient. I was being put with Erin by reception and advised Erin schedules her own appointments and she would reach out. Two weeks went by without a peep, I call and speak with Jenn (who is absolutely the glue to this shît show), Jenn let me know Erin would be reaching out, a week passed and Erin finally reached out via text (seriously you own the practice and you reach out to a new patient via text) and only ask "what's is your schedule", not hey this is so and so from such and such. I of course had no idea who this was thinking maybe they messaged a wrong number so I didn't even respond. Another week passes I call back and tell Jenn I still hadn't heard from Erin (how could I have possibly known by the what's your schedule text it was Erin? Several hours later Erin texts me with "I texted you last week and didn't get a response". At this point I ask "who is this", then Erin tells me "it's Erin", we go back and forth for 2 more weeks about scheduling because Erin never responds to her texts timely. I finally get an appointment scheduled and then Erin blows me off. I can't even begin to tell you how unprofessional Erin is, not to mention the fact that she walks around the office barefoot and the bottoms are her feet are black I called Jenn (this woman hands down has the best customer service!) she said another person had an opening and she scheduled me. Here we are 2 years later and my therapist is leaving. Yesterday I get an appointment update email so I call because I absolutely am not flexible on appointment times this week and what am I told by the receptionist? "Disregard we took you off the schedule". And when I asked why the answer was "ummm I'm not sure". How do you take someone off a schedule for mental health and don't give them an actual answer? Today, I get another email that says my appointment was moved to Wednesday, again I call to find out if I'm being taken off the schedule for a reason that no one could provide why would I have a date change? I was then advised Erin would call me. At this point I'm just irritated by the lack of professionalism and to be quite frank my mental health isn't set up for this chaos. I waited a few hours and decided I just didn't want to be seen there any longer so I call to cancel any appointments that exist in their system but no one takes the call, I finally got tire of the recording and just hung up. I later get a call asking if I'll be staying since my therapist left. It really seemed to me that I was being pushed out. Regardless. Any time Erin has put her hands in to anything I've dealt with there, right down to her dismissive attitude in the lobby has been unpleasant and in my opinion unacceptable. You're in the mental health business and your office is just mass chaos? I wouldn't even waste my time here if your a perspective patient. At least not with Erin. Edit: Because after every bad review of course the owner needs to follow up personally, via text, and unprofessionally per her usual. But hey, she "knows her clients read their messages", especially after I told her I was horrible with texts, which she read and failed to respond to....for 728 days. Anywhoooo for those of you that may have questioned my poor review, screenshots do not tell a lie As a side note, Erin "cares so much about the patients" at her practice, she's managed to cause some of us lack of mental health care for a month. I haven't seen my therapist since March 8th, and my next appointment unfortunately couldn't be any sooner than April 19th at my new therapy office. But hey, Erin really does care about the mental wellbeing of her patients, this place is a joke! Save your cash if your a self pay, and don't waste your insurance co-pays if you can wait to see someone worth seeing!

I just have to take the time to write a review after my third FANTASTIC experience with Tom…read more The "spa" is a small place above Staples and PetSmart where you open the door and it is instantly relaxing. You can feel the calming energy and it is very warm. The sound of running water, lots of books to browse about healing, holistic nutrition, stretching, poetry etc.... as well as herbal and natural products. It is not a sparse Zen-like environment, rather, it has signs of a busy and purposeful place where people teach and cook. Tom is professional and gentle in demeanor. He is incredibly intuitive and knowledgable. Every time I have gone I have been blown away by how accurately he can "read" what is going on with my body/mind. He makes me feel very at ease because he always checks in and asks about my comfort. I have had acupuncture from maybe three other practitioners in my life, and Tom is THE person I will go back to again and again. One thing to know is that they do not run "by the clock" and tell you you're done after 50 minutes (which has happened to me at other massage locations in DC). Each time I have gone to the Mindful Healing Spa I have gone at the end of the day and been there for almost two hours. I really feel like I get my money's worth! I can't wait to go back.
