Have you ever walked up to a perfume/cologne counter and felt overwhelmed by the choices? I have…read moreand Perfume Connection doesn't make it easy. Their showcases are stocked with perfumes and colognes. The middle island is filled to the brim, both on the glass shelves and in the cabinets below. They even have a warehouse that holds excess inventory. There's no shortage of options here - you are bound to find something you like. Their prices are fair, and they accept up to $10 in 'Festivalue Dollars", $1 flea market currency that can be used for every $5 American spent. (You get flea market currency at information desks in the building.) There are several perfume counters in the flea market but what makes this one unique - besides their inventory of hard to find scents like Bond #9 - is that the employees know their perfumes and colognes. They are able to translate my likes into a scent profile so they present perfumes that represent my likes. They aren't just order-takers or disengaged counter help. They actually work with me to sort out the perfumes that 'speak' to me and help me to narrow down the ones that I like best. Ultimately I leave with perfume that I like that day and months later. That is why I keep returning to them! They also have discontinued colognes (like Pur-Sang) and perfumes (like Bulgari Omnia brown) so we can keep getting scents that are hard to find. Today hubby got Armani Code and Pur-Sang and I got Gucci Premiere to go along with recent purchases of Narciso Rodriguez for Her and Bulgari Jasmine Noir. Thankfully their prices enable me to buy expensive brands! This store, like most in the flea market and beyond, offers 'tester' bottles as well as traditional bottles. Tester bottles have the same perfume/cologne but lack the fancy packaging. The bottles of my perfume are beautiful - likely because the perfume is high end - and I don't keep the boxes so I don't care about that. I only care about the perfume. Their tester boxes are usually sealed and stored appropriately, so I know the perfume is in tact, unused, and unspoiled by heat. I've shopped here for a few years and have never had an issue - but they have a generous return policy if we find we don't like the perfume/cologne after the purchase. They're located where Market Street meets Carnival within the flea market building.

What I disliked was the lack of customer service. I can see they were busy this holiday season. Their shelves were looking a little sparse. Most associates were busy with customers, except for two who were doing paperwork. That is fine, they saw me, at least one of them did, she looked right at me and saw mw waiting, didn't say anything, just kept on doing her thing. A couple of other people came in, and wouldn't you know, she (and the other previously paper pusher girl I mentioned asked them if they needed help. I thought "Bitch, you know I was here first" I didn't say anything, I walked right out. I didn't know my money wasn't good for this business. I am not rude, if I see you are doing something, I won't interrupt, so when I saw them busy, I understood. But ignore me to help someone else, you lost me as I customer. No that they care apparently.

I was appalled because I think she was making assumptions about me based on my appearance... she would be shocked by my net worth! Also, who buys perfume without trying it? And don't get me started on the fact that they had none of the fragrances I came to the store to try...

The rudest person accusing me of breaking something when I did not even touch the items she said I did. Wow! Such a nasty attitude. No wonder no one else was in their store shopping when I came by.... The sad part is that I drove a distance to get there. And had planned on really stocking up on a few of their things. I went in to smell Creed and was met with probably one of the rudest employees I have ever come in contact with and was told "we don't spray testers" okay, I get it Creed is expensive but the way he mentioned it made it sound like you can't smell anything. After a brief discussion and clarification, according to him you can "smell" Creed but they won't spray it. I was already so turned off shopping there after dealing with his horrible attitude I didn't care to smell it and will go to a reputable store to smell it and spend my hard earned money at a business that respects and appreciates it's customers. I don't get frustrated often and don't expect much from sales people but this was worse than I expected and I had to share that with the sales rep.

However, this particular Sephora location has fallen short of their customer service. I was reluctant to write a review, but when I saw their star rating, and read a few of the others, I recognize I was not alone in my experience. The customer service is inexperienced, not aware of simple questions (I.e. a promotion advertised throughout the store and not knowing about it), and also rude in their interactions with guest. It's honestly strange, and my only experience has been at this particular location. They could use improvement on that front. I also noticed items I would have liked to purchase while in store, were unavailable (amika hair care for example), thus just making it less ideal to go in person. The store is also a bit smaller (or so it feels) as it is jam packed or at least feels so when walking around (not sure if this is just adding on top of an already seemingly disappointing visit or if that's an experience for others too). Overall, I wouldn't return here for the intention of shopping at Sephora, I'll stick to online or another location, unless I'm with friends for dinner at promenade and we wander in together.

The store is clean; unfortunately, the attitude and level of assistance from both management and some regular employees left much to be desired. When I had questions or needed help finding products, I felt as though I was inconveniencing the staff rather than receiving customer service. Several employees came across as unfriendly, dismissive, and uninterested in helping customers. Sephora is known for providing a welcoming beauty experience, but this particular location falls short in that area. I hope management takes customer feedback seriously and invests in improving employee training and customer service standards because the store itself has great potential. Based on my experience, I would shop here only if I know exactly what I need and do not need any help.
