Quick, easy, friendly service, walked in, had 3 bankers boxes shredded while I watched within 5 minutes, I think total time on site was about 10 minutes. Finally a shedding place you can come in without an appointment and get stuff shredded while you wait (and watch). All the other places you had to try to time your visit while one of their trucks was there (and the trucks were never on time). Its real easy here you can just drop off and pay or pay a little extra to watch them shred your stuff. The employees are pretty helpful explaining the process. I choose to do Witnessed shredding, but there are other options that are detailed on their web site. I've also used them for hard drive destruction. I just brought in my laptop, and they opened it (not always an easy task), and removed the hard drive. Great parking right outside their door. They will assist you in bringing in your boxes. I researched 7 companies for paper shredding before I decided to go with Total Secure Shredding. They had great reviews, the best prices, convenient location, and onsite shredding. Also, there were discounts for a Yelp check-in and going to the Total Secure Shredding website and getting a quote, but I don't think that the discounts can be combined. When we arrived, there was a short wait as there were 2 other customers in front of us. Our papers were in containers that were a different size than bankers boxes. The staff were polite and friendly and explained that they determined the equivalent number of bankers boxes by emptying our containers into a shredding bin for measurement. The staff even helped us to empty our containers into the bin! We will definitely be back for our next batch of paper shredding. read more

Location (as always) first: this place is right behind 99 Ranch, in Kearny Mesa. You have to drive past 99 Ranch if you're coming off the 805, and take the first left on Ruffner. After cleaning out the paper and small items from my parents' house, I brought in a whole shopping list of stuff: 50 old prescription bottles, 45 floppy disks, a hard drive, and close to 300 lbs (!!!) of old papers. My parents were raised during the Depression, and never. threw. anything. away. Dan was kind, very accommodating, and thorough. I did witnessed shredding, so I watched on the monitor as those hundreds of pounds of paper (and even some thin, hardcover directories) were turned into confetti within minutes. The same with the hard drive and the disks. After each shredding, I was shown the finished product: confetti. This is, in addition, a green facility -- so all that paper gets sorted and recycled into brown paper for various purposes. Even the receptionist was kind, knowledgeable, and very patient with my endless questions. A great business. A+++ read more

Make sure you put the suite number in when you're putting it into GPS otherwise you will spend more time looking for the place than getting the job done. This is one of my favorite San Diego businesses. Everything about it is just right! It's conveniently located, but it's also kind of "Kearny Mesa quirky" (my phrasing), like where you enter from the back and it's all industrial buildings and business vehicles all around. It's also has a huge parking lot! It feels like a solid Kearny Mesa business. It's super easy to use them and find them and work with them. You can bring boxes or items in bags and you are met by the nicest greeter. I met Dan this time. You enter from the back through the Customer door. If your items are in bags, bring them inside and you work together to estimate how many "boxes" those bags would have filled, and all four of my bags would have only filled two banker's boxes. Not bad! I brought a $1 off coupon from their website. I got a ton of stuff shredded for about $7. And I opted for the basic shredding -- no watching needed. My items were super secret confidential, but I have full trust and faith in them. And they explain how they shred at the end of the day for the non-witness shredding. In this era of Marie Kondo-ing our lives, this is really what you should be doing with papers and folders and files: bulk, mass shredding. Get rid of it. Drive it over and be done with it. Boxes or bags. Let the pros do it. They explain their services on their website. It makes it so easy to clean your office, business, records or whatever: it all goes, no second though.
