Fast forward two weeks, now my friend expected me to join her for a class...or two. At 8 in the morning (Jesus be a fence)! The only time I make my way out of the house before 8am is when that venture involves $$$. Otherwise, you will find me in bed sleep, or contemplating the facts of my life IN BED. So yea, I was coaxed into an early morning water Zumba class, sweetened with an offer to pay. I pull up to the center, after a not so pleasant encounter with the owners at Atlantic Carry Out ( I spoke about 2 words to them and they said two to me). My friend is wide awake...and bubbling. We arrived to the water a tad late, but was welcomed in by the instructor's boisterous voice (Eric). I didn't think water Zumba would be difficult, not having done it before, but I will tell you that its not for punks. My body is still burning, but my back was unharmed. I had a great time. Chilled with some old ladies in the shallow end of the pool after the class, and relaxed a bit in the jacuzzi. The facility was clean and I noticed that they have a lot of activities for kids/family (several levels of summer camp was in session when I arrived). 4 whole stars

Exclusionary policies on a 3ft deep pool…read more My special needs son wanted to go on the lily pads/floating log ropes course, so I asked if I could be present in the water to guide him because he's non-verbal and needs time to process directions. The head lifeguard said no, the other lifeguards will watch him. Some special needs children require accommodations that caretakers like his father (me) are highly attuned to. The teenaged lifeguards would simply blow their whistles and scream at my son as they've done before. I am there to assist as needed so 1) we avoid the screaming lifeguards, and 2) so he can experience what all the other kids can do on their own. Obviously we didn't go on it. Thanks for understanding, SplashDown, we'll never go there again. Side note: Some of these lifeguards hate their life and shouldn't be there.

The biggest cheat code for me and my family is going early... Like early early, as soon as they…read moreopen. Parking was a breeze and the different pool and slide sections were not crowded at all. It's such a great spot to burn summer energy and also practice water skills. I found the lifeguards to be really attentive and constantly counting the swimmers in their sections. My kids absolutely love the big and small waterslides and rode them about 20 times over the course of an hour or two. Even just a few days before the Fourth of July holiday, because we were there first thing, there were no lines, and things ran smoothly. I'm excited to check it out again, perhaps at a bit busier time, but it was great for our first visit.

I'd like to give kudos to Art Works Now for their summer day camps. My girls loved their…read moreexperiences at the camp. Each session has a theme and the artwork and the field trips reflect the themes perfectly. The self-portraits they painted for the "I am somebody" theme are so special that we plan to hang them on their new bedroom walls. My girls went to two sessions and they learned so much. They came home excited every day. At the end of the week, they had an art show for parents. Unfortunately, I could not attend but the staff posted a short video of the children's artwork on Facebook. I definitely appreciated that gesture.

My three yr old loves it here. They have a parents night out once a month, where we drop the babe…read moreoff and have date night. Four hours later our daughter is fed, has watched a movie and has lots of art work to display on the fridge! Toddler time is also great too.
