We are incredibly grateful to Kevin for the amazing experience he gave my mother and me while getting our new skates. My mom used to skate when she was younger and has been wanting to reconnect with it and relearn the basics. Kevin was not only patient but genuinely passionate about helping us--he guided us with care and respect for the sport, which made the entire process so meaningful. He took the time to ensure we were fitted properly, carefully considered our different foot types, and matched us with the right brands and styles. We truly learned so much throughout the process. The store also offers a fantastic selection and an exceptional in-person, white glove experience. Thank you, Kevin, for making this such a special and memorable moment for us!

My new skates I purchased from Bikes & Skates. I'm VERY satisfied.

EXCELLENT Customer Service KNOWLEDGE and EXPERTISE of what is sold and the market PRICES are RIGHT WARRANTY, PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE/MANAGEMENT is MORE than the average KEVIN (owner/operator) is the skate GURU and he's had this business/store since 1985 My shopping experience at Bikes & Skates was beyond EXCEPTIONAL. This location comes HIGHLY recommended for its customer service, great products and warranty. I received ALL of that with the purchase of my new skates. Thank you so much for a GREAT EXPERIENCE!

I got fitted for new skates, and I went with these. Really comfy. I got them with outdoor wheels.

I drove to Capitol Heights, MD from DC to visit Bikes & Skates. It was worth the drive. I had a great experience. I brought my skates with me and wanted to understand why they didn't perform well outside. Turns out I needed new wheels and bearings for outdoor skating. After asking all of my questions (which Kevin professionally and patiently answered) and weighing the pros and cons of just getting new wheels or new skates, I went with new skates. My new skates got equipped with outdoor wheels and the trucks were adjusted. I like that they back their products, and I can come back if I have any issues with the skates. I'll definitely be a repeat customer and will refer anyone looking for a great skate shop.

I enjoyed my experience here. The staff was nice and very helpful. They were knowledgeable of all things skates and helped me pick a pair that's comfortable and cute. The man that helped me was very patient and helped me try on several pair of skates. He got me the wheels I wanted and they did quality testing before I made the purchase. I've gotten so many compliments on my skates and have sent their information to several people already. I highly recommend.

I really appreciate this shop being in Prince George's County! As depicted in the name, you can drop in and get what you need to start roller skating or cycling. They have a limited number of cycling kits, padded seats, and other accessories. If it's not in stock, ordering is a breeze & the item is delivered within a day or two. Prices are competitive and Kevin (the owner) is a sweetheart. He knows his products inside & out. He's been selling roller skates since the 1980s! I sent my friend here to finally buy some quality skates. Had to bring an end to all the clowning she receives for wearing rentals (also known as brownies) at the rink. I stopped her from a random Internet purchase... she now understands this is a small investment. Kevin hooked her up with some tried and true Riedells. There was no wait, he had her size in stock. In fact, Bikes & Skates is the largest distributor of Riedells in the region. There are only a limited number of places we (roller skaters) can go in the county to get necessary adjustments. He adjusted my wheels & plates so I don't have to work as hard. I encourage you to support this BoB business. Kevin believes in customer service.

Any time you leave a place with a smile on your face, you know it's legit. I made the trek here from Baltimore and am happy that I did!! I purchased my first pair of skates (as an adult) and the process was seamless and personal. The owners were super helpful and explained everything... for every question I had, they had an answer. They are very knowledgeable about skates and I appreciate going to and supporting smaller, mom/pop places that really deliver. I got the Reidell Angels with the fundae wheels. They changed out the wheels, adjusted the toe stop, truck, and cushions for me. They were super welcoming and nice.. it's safe to say, this is now my go-to skate shop!!

I just started learning to skate, and the manager helped me find my perfect fit. I tried on the skate and voilà.., I instantly felt like I could tackle the skating rink with ease. The only set back is that they don't always have all the sizes on hand, but they are willing to order it for you. They do have tons of options for you to chose from in store.

Great selection of skates available. The extra is they get roller skate deliveries often. Customization is also nice but allow ample time for arrival of your special item.

Moxi rainbow riders (sold out even on modi's website) but they had them in my size!

The guys there spent so much time making sure we were comfortable with our skates. They taught a us how to care for them and how the tools work for loosening and tightening. We DID wait for 3hrs, so get there as soon as the open or a tad earlier. They had exactly the products we wanted. It's a small shop and the type of customers shopping here require care and attention. They delivered and I couldn't be happier with my purchase or experience.

    False advertising on hours!
    Jasmine B.

What's a waste of drive coming to this place! I drove 50mins from Fort Belvoir to go to this place just to find out there are close....their hours are from 11-3pm on Sunday according to YELP and GOOGLE. No decency to even update the hours since your store front sign shows conflicting hours.! Will not do business with these folks again!

New wheels & bearings, Pom poms, laces!

I haven't been to Lanham Skate Center in years!…read more Coming back wasn't only a treat but brought a little bit of nostalgia for me. I came on a Friday night where there were way more adults than kids. To be honest, all the adults had on good expensive skates but me. (Dork alert) This means that these people come and really skate skate. For the most part there were lots of couples skating together in sync with the type of synergy that only Chemistry will allow. Way cool to see them skate so effortlessly, even the big boy who was skating with one leg! Ladies there were couples but there were men all by their lonesome skating like superstars. It was super fun, it's definitely a workout, and this girl is going to buy cute skates to fit in for next time. Customer service was great! Price is reasonable! 17$ Didn't try the food had dinner prior! But drinks are fairly priced. Music is on point! Love the DJ, it's almost like he had my playlist. Place is a little run down but the floor is perfect, restrooms could get a facelift but overall cute place! Date night worthy if you're active! Tip: Bring quarters if you want to safely store your stuff. They do not give cash back and can't charge you for a locker. Would recommend!

I had a blast and such an awesome fun and amazing time. I had to use the guardrail with wheels to go around the rink several times before gradually trusting myself and having the confidence to start taking strides on my own by the guardrails and then eventually taking steps to start having my balance, technique, and rhythm down just an amazing epiphany, self development and fulfilling prophecy throughout the evening such an excellent feeling of accomplishment and overcoming fear, as I was able to get the hang of things without needing an actual class and had that my muscle memory kicked in from inline skating a lot as a child. Now for the actual establishment itself, I am sorry that others have not had the best customer service, but my mom and I were fortunate to receive stellar, friendly, and top-tier customer service from the admissions to the snack bar and for me at the shoe rental. Staff were easygoing, polite, friendly, attentive, approachable, and had great attitudes. I think the customer service outside of the skating experience itself for me was the most memorable part, as I was dreading and expecting poor to mediocre customer service. The pricing is also a plus. The general admission is only $10 bucks and renting skates is only $5 dollars so it is a very affordable, fun, and memorable outing. Bowling can easily cost $50-$100 dollars altogether within a blink of the eye depending on rounds played and other factors. Roller skating is not as widely popular as bowling and has more of a niche audience, but it is way more reasonable cost wise and is great for your physical and mental health. You feel this euphoric sensation after skating! Now what keeps this place from receiving 5 stars or even 4 stars is the location and amenities themselves. The rink although large with excellent guardrail placement around it, has a dated floor with a few areas that have a little bit of friction which makes it hard to have a smooth skating experience. The skates I rented were pretty dated and worn with the front of one skate peeling, so I think investing in newer skates would be ideal down the road. I had the right size of skates, and they did not feel too heavy, but they were a bit worn out. I know the challenges small businesses face, and I was thankful and grateful to have a local skating rink not too far away from where I live, but that is something cause of concern. A nice feature are the referees/support staff that do a great job monitoring the rules on the skating rink and to help novice/beginner skaters if needed. Yes, this place has a lot of rules, but skating can be a risky activity, so safety is paramount. The snack bar is a bit more limited and restrictive than what to expect at a bowling alley. Please do not come here on an empty stomach. It is best to eat before coming here. I understand that the skating rink is not a restaurant, but there are no hot pockets, sausage, and other finger food outside of wings and fries. The candy was almost 3 dollars per bag which is pricey. The food and its options was the most disappointing part. The venue itself is pretty dated and would look and feel nicer with a more modern, revamped look. I think the venue would benefit from a massive upgrade in the aesthetics department. The music was not what I have interest in personally with Cardi B., Glorilla, and other new school hip/hop - rap artists. I enjoyed when Jay Z and Alicia Keys came on, that is when I started to get into my rhythm and groove! Sorry Cardi you just don't do it for me. Having a lot of little kids skating with me listening to ole Cardi B was an experience to say the least. All in all, despite some limitations and issues here and there, this is still a great outing and nice to check out.

Actually, it's on the smaller end, but I think there's a limit to the number of people that can be out there at once, since we were given stickers to display while we were in the ice, and these stickers had a time at which our reservation expired (I think). My bros, my bro's gf, and I had a blast going 'round and 'round, initially holding onto the rails (at least my bro's gf and I had to), before acclimating and being able to skate closer to the middle of the rink. We made reservations on the phone about a day prior, and were tended to and able to get our skates immediately when we got there. They have these standing training wheels that you can skate with (some look like penguins). I don't really know how to describe them or what to call them besides that. Anyway, my bro's gf was more gradual with gaining her balance on the ice, and she thought it was unfair that only little kids were allowed to be able to use these training equipment. I noted a few skate guards on the ice; good to know there are individuals out there presumably to ensure skaters' safe leisure. After skating for about an hour or so, we enjoyed some hot chocolate and ice cream (never too cold!) at Mimi's ice cream parlor just outside the rink.
