Okay. So I've been doing Zumba since 2011 and for the most part, I burn a nice ~200 or so calories…read moreper class. I'll sweat a little, but my hair usually stays in place and I can easily move seamlessly back to work after a lunchtime session. And then I found ZQ Fitness. Let me tell you, the instructors at this studio mean business and they will kick your butt (lovingly, of course!) According to my Fitbit, I hit 9000 steps and burned 450 calories this lunch hour. I was sweating profusely for an entire hour afterwards. This isn't your old lady Zumba at the YMCA, this is a serious "I'm huffing and puffing and my muscles are burning like hell" workout. (There were definitely a few times I thought I had walked into an 80s aerobics class haha!) "Wait, so if you suffered so much, why did you give ZQ a 5-star rating?" Because it was boatloads of FUN! Sylvia, the owner, has amazing amounts of energy for a 50-year-old (and she moves and looks like a 30-year-old, seriously!) I was the only new student this class but I was greeted warmly, chatted with a few of the other students before class, and cheered along with everyone else at the end of every song. The passion is infectious here. Everyone is supportive, nonjudgemental, and genuinely happy to be there. Cheers and claps punctuate every movement. You'll work hard, but you'll be encouraged every step of the way. The disco lights are just the cherry on top ;) Some quick tips: 1. Buy the $55/mo unlimited membership. There are 2-3 classes every day, and they're $6 for a drop in... but the membership is so worth it. 2. Follow them on Facebook for the most updated schedule.

I am not talking about letting a few well placed whoo that went along with the music to pump you up, I mean the entire one hour class they were yelling, hooping, and hollering to the point of ridiculousness. I thought it was a joke at first but it just kept going! Then I thought ok they will get tired after a few songs, nope they screamed the entire hour. It was so distracting I could not even hear the music.

Absolutely love this gym!. Staff is very friendly. They have some good trainers on hand and a lot of friends now among other members. For me one of the highlights is seeing somebody that you know is struggling to get in shape and they continue to show up. I always try to seek those people out and make friends with them and encourage them because I was that person at one time I was over 36% plus body fat. I was gassing out just walking upstairs. I was very obese... I put in the work I put in the effort I put in the time the macros, the diet, etc. I lost the weight and a large portion of this transformation was done physically 100% at this gym. Of course diet and attitude had to go in it

Then they keep drawing money out of your acccount all the time , what happened to 30 bucks a month. On top of all that they over sell the membership to a bunch of kids, from 5am-thru 9pm its packed , takes 2 hours to get real workout in. When you quit they charge your card when tell them your quitting and then with draw another 30 days payment , now i kjeep getting sales texts to come back. Thank God there is a real gym down the road for Real working out people , not just kids checking out dating partners . The LBJ Student Center at Texas State University is named after Lyndon Baines Johnson, the 36th president of the United States and one of the university's most distinguished alumni. Johnson attended the institution formerly known as Southwest Texas State Teachers College beginning in 1927 and graduated in 1930. Texas State has chosen to remember him through buildings, programs, and memorials on campus. As documented in the building, Lady Bird Johnson emphasized that the center was meant to be a living tribute to her husband - one filled with the energy, activity, and engagement of students, reflecting the spirit Johnson valued in young people. His picture and his background is prominently displayed throughout the LBJ student center.

It's the first thing I need when I go work out. The weights area is good, and people are generally polite about letting other people use equipment between their sets. The bad is that the front desk is beginning to nickle and dime people when they want to borrow towels. Not only that, but you have to pay a fee for their "towel service". Then proceed to pay fifty cents to a dollar for every towel you borrow from then on. There's always a entrance whose out of commission, or the finger print scanner don't work. The natatorium is closed for most of the day for who knows what. One of the showers in the girls locker room doesn't work, and each shower has a ball of hair from all the girls who brush their hair in the shower or shave but aren't considerate enough to pick their hair up after they're done using the shower.

I was at home recovering for a week, trying to make it back work wise for the second week and finally in the 3rd week I started to think about mundane things such as my gym membership. I called up management and asked for a credit for the previous month, to put a freeze on my membership moving forward until i could recover and was told they were looking into it. I received a voicemail letting me know that the month that I was initially injured was impossible to credit, and that the charge for the next month, due in 3 days was "too late to stop or credit". I called today to discuss and had the General Manager Andy Alvarez tell me that he would have his supervisor call me back. I asked for his supervisor's name and was told his first name only initially as when I asked Andy for his name, then finally and reluctantly was told Joe Henderson. I explained that I would likely be cancelling my membership after over 4 years and was told that was fine. No care at all for my experience, my injury nor my 4 year membership. I am genuinely surprised and did not expect for this situation to end up with my cancelling my membership, but I can't in good faith give my money to someone that treats their customers with such blatant lack of care. Besides the gym being extremely limited on many basic machines and other equipment, it is also run by people that will hesitate to give you their full name during a complaint by a customer. That is ridiculous and unacceptable in almost any industry. This experience will be shared by me to anyone that inquires about my recovery, in addition to friends and family on a Facebook post to come. I can't believe the complete lack of care for my situation, but in reading other complaints on here it seems to have happened before. Update-my situation was resolved by Joe Henderson to my satisfaction. I have updated my review but still feel that leaving this post for future reference by other members may be helpful.
